  1. So on these Regult sets, is there any indication on the images posted above that the missile pods are removable? I missed the first Regult, and was curious if I could essentially remove the pods and use them as standard Regults in certain cases.

I believe that the side coverss are very possible to manufacture, only it is necessary to analyze that fixation points existing in the valkyrie can be used to hold them. That is the most complicated point.

Another point is the design of the same, since those manufactured by yamato do not correspond to those seen on TV, do you like the pattern of the image or the Yamato?

Personally, I would prefer the design of the TV show animation in the top image. But if you end up making the Yamato design, I would probably still buy.

I only bought this set for the TV Super Packs...

I have done the same, and more than once. Those 1/100 super parts are getting tough to find at anything close reasonable prices. If you can find a good deal on the HM Roy, it's not that much more than what the standalone super part set is going for. I recently scored a loose, complete HM VF-1S on YJA (through Buyee) for just Y7750 including fees and shipping. I also found a partly-used HM super parts sticker sheet on Ebay for $0.75 :D

  4. Interesting that they are making these. Does anyone else find it funny that they are described as "standing" pilots, but in all the photos, they are lying down? :p

At least they're releasing a 1/100 TV Focker pilot -- Bandai has yet to do that in Hi-Metal R.

Hope to get another VF-1J Hikaru at HLJ.  Those blank bodies are best to use.

Agreed those are best as a starting point. Been thinking about another myself.

Bit of a random question, does anyone know the weights of some of these figures?  Specifically the valks, glaug, regult and spartan?  I don't have a scale, so I can't find out myself.

I just want to be sure I'm not overloading a shelf.

I only have valks at this point, but according to my postal scale:

    VF-1 = 2.9 oz

    VF-1 Super/Strike = 4.3 oz

If using Tamashii Stage stands, each one adds another 1 oz.

I wanted to see how this looked.  Custom VF-1S Max and Milia.

That looks really cool! As much as I'm all about the official "canon" look, it's fun to imagine other possibilities.

Maybe a VF-1S version of the blue HMR Max to go with your VF-1S Milia custom?

  7. @sh9000 - Thanks for the photos!

The red super parts from Milia look pretty good on the Hikaru 1J. I had thought of doing this myself to see what it looked like. I wonder if perhaps a better color match might be the 1J from the armored set, since it was more of a gray than white. I hadn't thought to put them on the Hikaru 1S (as I don't have that one) but it looks good, too.

I thought I was going to be done with 1/18 car models but this was just announced and a perfect color since it matches mine.

Needless to say, order placed instantly! So happy since I missed out on the last one released a few years ago.

Cool! That reminds me of my silver Subaru Impreza WRX (GGA) wagon and the near-matching 1/18 AutoArt GGB model that my wife bought me just after I got it. I no longer have the actual car, but I still have the model to remind me of it.

  9. So they're actually making the SNES Classic a reality! I've been a little out of touch lately, but last I heard it was only a rumor. Very cool!

Even though I've already got the physical carts to over half the games, it's still tempting if only for Star Fox 2 and Earthbound. Plus more kid friendly than swapping cartridges in a Retron 5.

Looking great so far! It's nice you were able to work in the CF in all 3 modes. The gerwalk is especially cool.

The blue trident almost looks like it's part of outer space. Is it the dark blue one that you can get now? It seems lighter than I thought it was.

If they stick to 7 Macross HM-R releases per year....then maybe we get....

    1. VF-2SS

    2. Regult add-ons

    3. Tomahawk

    4. Phalanx

    5. N-Ger DYRL

    6. SuperO

    7. ElintSeeker

Being the 35th Anniversary of DYRL...I am thinking that we will see the HM-R VE-1 and VT-1 next year....

I thought DYRL came out in '84, meaning the 35th wouldn't be until 2019? (I hope it's not that long before we see those last valks...)

As someone else said a few pages back I think what they're doing is pacing it out so as not to suddenly lose customers that were only in for the Macross products.  Pretty smart strategy if you ask me.

I think it was me that said something to that effect. :D

And it would seem that Bandai is even spacing things out across different Macross series, instead of pushing out all SDFM or DYRL first. As far as finishing what they originally announced, I would agree it's more of a "when" than an "if". Though it wouldn't surprise me if something like the VT-1 ends up being released later than sooner, as it's something that many (myself included) are really interested in.

Besides, if they weren't doing what they're doing we wouldn't have such sustaining product line to fuel our habit and give us fun stuff to chat about month after month :p

Plus the slower stream of releases makes it easier on the bank account, especially when there are certain ones that you decide to skip.

They showed so much stuff all at once, it's gonna take a long time to get through all of it.

    This, too.

  13. So, I'm just discovering this thread, and glad I did. About a year or two ago I started a process of gradually re-buying most of the games I once enjoyed but had long since sold off, and several that I never had back in the day. It's been great experiencing them again, and sharing with my kids.

I beat all those ninja gaiden games when I was much younger, but I don't know if I could still do it today. That frustration about losing and starting the whole thing over after losing those lives.

I only ever had (and beat) the first one. I actually still have my original boxed copy, along with a few other boxed NES games that somehow were tucked away in a closet at my parents house until just last year. The original Ninja Gaiden was hard, but not as bad as something like Castlevania III -- that is a whole 'nother level of hair-pulling. Though it both games, it's totally a matter of having (and not losing) just the right sub-weapon.

@davidwhangchoi How are you enjoying Scrambled Valkyrie for SFC? I picked that one up a while back, and since getting in Macross more recently, have been wanting to play through it again, now that I actually know who Hikaru is!

I also have Macross 2036 for the PC Engine, though it's my initial impression that it's not as good in gameplay as SV. Seems like some here think it's better, perhaps because it's got more of a storyline?

  14. Nice to see Bandai expanding the HMR line into more series. I haven't yet seen Mac II, so not as much interest on my part, but the VF-2 is a good looking design, and I can understand the excitement given the relative lack of VF-2 toys out there.

Personally I'm in with those who are disappointed to see the Tomahawk delayed further, and wondering when in the world we will see the VT-1 and VE-1 that were teased long ago.

But again, looking at the big picture, the way Bandai is growing the line is a good thing. Realistically I think they are trying to hook more fans into the line through connections to other series, thus expanding the pool of potential buyers for any future releases. They probably know the demand for destroids and 2-seater VF-1s, and may be holding them for a while as a future payoff, to generate more interest in the line, and also to guard against people jumping off the HMR train once their SDFM & DYRL collections are complete.

My Spreadsheet the only way I know precisely what "mount holy-@!#%$-that's-a-lot-of-kits" actually consists of... [speaking of which, I actually started two kits today... I'll have to note that.] along with what my future collection will[may] one day contain.

This also allows me to see the money value my dreams represent in no uncertain terms... which assists me in resisting my "GOTTA HAS IT!" impulses...

I wholeheartedly recommend using something like a spreadsheet to manage inventory. What line it's from, what model it is, where/when you got it, how much it you paid, current value, etc. I've already started one for my modest Macross collection. (My spreadsheets for my retro video games and vintage Lego sets are a bit longer. ;)) It's incredibly helpful to keep a reference of what you actually have, as well as a reminder of how much you've actually spent. If you're talking about handing down a collection in the case of an unforeseen event, it could also really benefit someone there. I've even considered if I ever got to a hard spot financially, I'd know how much I could potentially "cash out".

  16. Always exciting to see new box art, especially when it's so nicely done.

Have any of Tenjin's HMR paintings appeared in any of the 3 different Valkyries art books? I've been thinking about picking those up, and thought maybe Third Sortie included a couple of HMR images.

Thanks. With the recent announcement of the Arcadia M&M re-releases, I was thinking it might happen be that Arcadia would eventually re-release this super bundle as well. But who knows how long that might take, and also…

    Thanks. And yep, pretty much.
