  1. From looking at various sites it's a bit surprising to me that the VF-1J Max and Hikaru are still so readily available, especially Hikaru, who's still up on HLJ. Granted that many of the ones out there are not always MISB, or may be marked up a bit in price. But the supply on them seems more plentiful than any other HMR release, or perhaps the demand for them is lower? In contrast, the CF 1A released about the same time is now getting harder to find, likely due to army-building.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I have less experience in this hobby than many of you, but It tends to make me a bit less anxious to snag one during the PO window in the future.

Yeah, the armored is my favorite of the Valks at this point.

It's definitely the one I most regret having missed out on. Given how much it's are going for now, I am hoping Bandai eventually releases the dark-colored armored VF-1A they teased a few months ago.

I never get tired of looking at this incarnation of VF-1's. People always says it's a 10 year old mold toy. But everytime there's new releases even if it's just the same old Roy or Hikaru scheme. Premium or not, they're still gorgeous to look at.

Totally agree. I'll just have to live vicariously through the photos here, as I can't justify the cost of the premium finish version for myself. As a relatively new collector, I don't (yet) own any 1/60, and I'm sorely tempted to pull the trigger on the standard finish version, as NY has a really good price on it.

Still no date on the Tomahawk I take it? It was announced before the Defender and that has a date of release.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the delay is as well. I'm hoping the final color leans more towards gray than purple, but based on the photos, it still looks good enough for me. I'm ready to order!

  5. I've been thinking of when to show SDFM to my son. We're currently working through Transformers G1. He just turned 8, so I don't think he's ready for Macross yet, plus I am a bit more of a protective parent than many. He likes my HMR VF-1 collection, is intrigued by my Robotech DVDs (they have more colorful art than my SDFM AnimEigo set) and asks when he can watch "the show with the jets." While some may object, I may start with the Macross Saga of Robotech, as it's a bit more kid-friendly, and I'm not sure how well he'd do with subs.

  6. All the great photos are starting to make me wish I'd gotten a Spartan. With limited funds and space, my plan was to just get my two favorite destroids: Defender and Tomahawk. Speaking of, where in the world is our Tomahawk PO?

I bought another one of my own, once I discovered the VF-1Js actually appeared in the show:

...and, since sh9000 made it look so good (and it's unlikely Bandai will ever get around to it), I figured I'd make my own.

    Very nice paint job.

I'm thinking of doing this myself to my third one, making a 3-valk CF squad. I just need another Hikaru 1J to swap heads, and then I could make a custom 1A out of the Hikaru - like maybe Max, Alaska Base, or Angel Bird. More likely one of the latter two, since I'm guessing Bandai will make TV Max at some point.

  8. Maybe not one of the "weirdest" places, but I was watching the original Transformers with my son over the weekend, and in the Dinobot Island episode (part 2) Skywarp goes from jet mode into quasi-gerwalk mode for a couple of seconds as he descends, before going back to jet mode.

I'd definitely buy another Regult at HLJ if it ever was available again.  That last time it went back up was cool.  Can't ever have enough Regults.

Which do you have more of now -- Regults or VF-1A cannon fodders?

I recently decided to get a third CF.

i got lost in time mouse scrolling sh9000's collection. ;)

    You and me both.

Many of you guys have very impressive collections. Makes me wish I had gotten into Macross earlier, back when the price of those 1/60s wasn't so high. Plus I just don't have the storage space. (Two reasons why I'm loving the HMR line.)

  11. @Brick_Sash That is a fantastic design, and it's great to see the actual build. I used to be into Lego as a kid a long time ago, and have enjoyed building with my son over the last few years, but nothing as impressive as this!

How did you source all the parts? BrickLink? I believe LDD will help you generate both instructions and a parts inventory, right?

Also, do the wings swing out?

Wow, looks awesome.  Did you make the diorama?

Agreed, that's a fantastic shot. Also curious about the setup.

Great pics of the pair! Shows how they complement each other so well.

I was finally able to get my Milia set up last night, and have them both with super parts on. But the bare fighters look just as good, especially with those TV missiles.

What the frak, for real?? Talk abt milking it...hmm...

Yeah, pretty much my reaction as well. If they're going to make another 1S, then why not a Roy TV version. That would be an insta-buy for me, whereas this is an easy pass.

  15. So, is anyone else wondering when the Tomahawk announcement will be?

Given the tease earlier this year, I was thinking it might be next after Defender. I'm also hoping it's soon enough to be released in time to ship with my Defender that will be sitting in HLJ's PW until late October.

I'm fine with whatever Bandai releases.  I'll still buy them all.  In the meantime I'm having too much fun.

And I'm having too much fun seeing the results of all your customs. Excellent work!

It would be great to see the TV Max in gerwalk at some point if you have the time.

Are you planning on Kakizaki versions of both of those eventually, to round out the respective Skull and Vermillion squads?

  17. Count me as one more who's curious to see how these are priced. I'm much later to the Macross party than many of you, I don't currently own any 1/60 valks, and have been hesitant to get into this scale due to space and price. I'm really into the HMR line, but I keep hearing that every Macross fan should have at least one "Yamarcadia".

Knowing what the 1/60 V2 go for these days, I was already tempted by NY's preorder price on Hikaru's 1S, and now seeing that M&M will be reissued, it's making me wonder if it might be time to bite. What I'd really like to see, and what I'd almost definitely preorder, is a reissue of the TV VF-1S "Booby Duck" with Hikaru pilot. Given that Arcadia seems to be back in action, so to speak, gives me hope that might actually happen.
