The first issue I see to overcome here is having a bunch of people shipping to the same address. Most shops have limits on how many you buy and if they see a whole bunch of orders from different accounts going to the same address, they might take that as someone trying to circumvent their system and start cancelling orders and accounts.

That's what I was mentioning with the print settings earlier. Thankfully, the image is very high resolution but it is not sized to just print straightforward at least on most people's printers. The first time I printed it, I resized it in photoshop and that's how I got the softer printout. Then I tried just setting the printer to reduce the print size by the amount needed and it came out much better that way. I've never printed anything directly from a phone before but if you can access print settings from the phone and reduce the size by a calculated percentage (or actual size), that's what you should do. If not, try seeing if you can adjust the print size directly on the printer.

@SUPERULTRAROBORIDER Cool pics! Yeah @Lolicon you asked more people to share their experiences and that's all that's happening. Anytime we discuss these shops, I definitely am not discounting anyone else's problems with any shop, I'm just sharing my experience. I have never had a problem with AE but I still use them as a last resort mainly because their prices are typically higher and they require up front payment for all orders instead of just TWE. Nice find! Yeah, I'm sure there are deals to be found if you know where to look and then keep looking at all the places. It's a long ordeal from Preorder day all the way to release time to be constantly searching all these avenues though. If I had to, I'd certainly do it to try to find a deal. The point is still that there are a lot of different people in the world with different income and spending ability levels so we can search for deals and never pay a markup but that's still not going to stop people who have the income and are willing to spend more to get what they want without the effort involved in Preorder madness or searching. All the Valks I see being sold at high prices even when lower priced ones are available out there is clear proof of this.

I’ve had items held over a year at AE on a couple occasions and when it came time to deliver, they still had my items and delivered them in excellent condition. That’s the best thing about AE to me is their indefinite Private Warehouse.

Getting really amped about all the good feedback on this release. I already know the Arcadia VF-0S is one of my favorites ever and it sounds like this is as good or better with a definite better paint job so I’m going to have a big smile when I get it. Bring on the 0As!

It’s an interesting market for sure. I prefer not to worry about it and just get my preorders in, lol. If I don’t, it’s time to scramble with other resources including friends, this community and whatever to get it done. I need my crack!

There are definitely a lot of scenarios that could play out. I don’t remember for sure since I got my 1J preordered but I could swear I saw those were going for $300+ right off the bat after release.

You definitely have a chance but to me it’s worse than preorder madness because you have to stalk almost all the sites all the time to hopefully catch an opening instead of just stalking them all on a set time or at least set date when you know preorders are opening.

Not going to argue over this again. If you like websites that crash constantly and give you false positive checkouts if you can even check out, that’s great! I’d rather get what I order and in the rare case where something was a major defect, get support for that than some shop that will respond to me and stroke my ego but do nothing to help.

Ok, if I remember correctly the file was hosted by someone somewhere. I think it might be too large to send by pm too. I do have it somewhere so I’ll contact you when I locate it and figure out a way to share it with you.

If they are reading this, please NY do improve customer service but NOT like HLJ and AmiAmi. You need to be better! HLJ and AmiAmi already failed the fist step of CS by making horrible websites that are barely useable when most needed. At least NY is the only site I know of that has made noticeable improvements to user experience when trying to check out. Also, keep doing things to support after sales whenever possible like when you were very fast to send out extra parts for the Arcadia Sv-51 when those were found to mostly be defective from the factory and some other sites like AmiAmi did nothing. Also, please do not start taking orders and then cancelling them afterwards like almost all the other sites do. Most importantly, have better communication with your customers whatever the case is. If there is a reason a shipment is delayed, just notifying people about it will go a long way.

No problem! BTW, I actually think the softer background looks good too and gives it a vast looking effect. But since I was experimenting and ended up with the sharper image, I stuck with that one.

Ah, I got mine online. The file should be floating around here somewhere (maybe the decal thread). If you can’t find it, lmk and I should have it somewhere. That’s how you do it! I’m not sure why mine looks better than the original other than perhaps Arcadia didn’t print it properly? My first run, I didn’t print properly and the background didn’t come out as sharp. When I printed, I found setting the size in the print settings made a sharper image than actually resizing the image itself. Makes sense but I always figured PS wouldn’t “destruct” the image like it did.

Yep, it was a pita to get it in there and fit but once I did it sits there nicely. I'm not sure how it shows up there but I like how in the back right corner, it is also seamless because instead of having it fold and form fit like a sticker would, it's just curved around.

I've never heard of a weight limit for Surface/Ferry shipping. In my experience, the larger and heavier the package, the more comparatively economical it is to use. Because of this, I try to bundle as many items together as possible and I've had pretty bix boxes full of stuff shipped on many occasions. Unfortunately, I don't remember the actual weights but I know for sure that a lot of them were much bigger and heavier than a single HMR Monster.

Once you get the background in there, it's not going anywhere so it may not be perfect but I'm totally fine with just having the background lodged in there without sticking.

People have a good idea of how available these things are based on the other releases and the Macross market in general. It's hard to fault anyone for selling something that people are actually buying for whatever price. Best thing as people have said and I always practice is to not buy at higher prices but that is not going to stop people like the millionaire collector who loves Macross and doesn't care about spending an extra hundred or so to get it. We can't know who everyone in the market is and the simple fact is there are people with means, ability and desire to pay more for whatever reason they choose because we see these sell out for those prices. Again, the only thing I can't condone is selling me something at one price and giving me some BS about it not available so you can sell it again at a higher price.

Yeah, I don't pay markups or any more than I ever have to for these things. If I miss out then I miss out but if it's something I want, I try to get it one way or another without paying the crazy markups. It's good to have friends and be part of a community that helps each other out. But these items are rare and not meant for any market outside of Japan so I see no reason why any capitalistic operation would not capitalize on the situation or any reason to question those that do. The only practice I can't support is going back on words and flat out lying like when some shops (Mykombini & Nin-Nin) say they are out of stock on a lower priced order and then immediately relist the same item at a higher price.

This. Coming out the gate with a higher price is a more respectable move than that but I won’t use them anymore.

That does look excellent! I saw they had different color visors but didn't realize they had this different shape too. Damn, I just might have to... On another note, just got some more Diaclone and aw hell! What in the world have I gotten myself into?

Good to know. I haven't used them since but I may give them another shot during preorder madness if I can't get something through my regular means. Worst case scenario, same thing happens and I get my money back again.
