  1. After searching through various reference material which include Bandai 1/72 manual, Macross Chronicle and lastly Master File VF-25, I began to wonder whether the Armored Pack had less missiles/rockets for dog fighting compared to the Super Pack. I will firstly go through the missile count of the Remington type missile pods, namely the ones mounted on the shoulders and chests. Super Pack ラミントン近接マイクロミサイルCIWSランチャーポッドHMM-5A x2 2 x Remmington HMM-5A close-in micro-missile CIWS launcher pod: 21 rounds x2 = 42 rounds NOTE: 15 each according to Bandai kit, 16 according to DX Renewal toy, 21 came from macross compendium, unsure of original source) Total missiles outside of boosters= 42 Armored Pack 可動式ラミントンマイクロミサイルCIWSランチャーポッド HMM-5A×4 4x HMM-5A Mobile Remington micro-missile CIWS launcher pods - 2 on shoulders, 2 on chest: Chest (20x2) + Shoulders (38x2) = Total 116 rounds NOTE: Numbers came from Macross compendium and Japanese wikipedia ラミントン近接マイクロミサイルランチャーポッド2重装填タイプ×4 4 x Remington Close-Range Micro-Missile Launcher Pods, Double-Loaded Type: 16 x 4 pods x 2 load = 128 rounds NOTE: Numbers came from Macross compendium and Japanese wikipedia Total missiles outside of booster= 244 Now, let's go through the missile on the booster packs. Super Pack ビフォーズマイクロミサイル3連装ランチャー CIMM-3A×2 2 x Bifors CIMM-3A micro-missile launchers pods (3 exit ports per launcher: up to 90 x2 SOURCE: See attached file Master File page 76 Total on boosters = 180 Armored Pack ハワード200mm対装甲用高初速ロケット弾15連装ポッド×2 200mm anti-armor high-initial velocity rockets in 2 x Howard 15-tube launcher pods: 15x2? NOTE: Could not find source on the load, is it likely to only have one load of 15 each? On animation, it has shown to behave like any other micro missile pod like the super pack booster. But it was hard to see whether it has multiple loads as it was only fired once per sortie. Total on boosters = 30? So it makes us wonder whether the armored pack is really worth using offensive wise aside from being able to multi lock and having more missiles for close combat(battroid mode etc) rather than for dogfighting. Both packs would exhaust their fuel completely at their maximum speeds for 2 minutes(15G for super, 11.5G for armored), and the armored has been described as having an effective uptime of 20 minutes. Both packs are non-atmospheric based but could still operate at the 0.75G environment of the Macross City ships. Has anyone compared the VF-1 armored pack with VF-1 super pack?
  2. I just realised that technically the Super Pack has more missiles than the Armored Pack since the two micro missile pods in front of the Super Pack boosters houses 90 rounds each and the Tornado pack should also be similar, while the Armored Pack has a 15 tube rocket launcher with an unknown amount attached to its boosters and has a total of 4 regular micro missile pods(shoulders and chest) and 4 close range micro missile pods(legs).
  3. Ordered Alto's Armor Renewal for 27k + 5%, At least it is still lower than the auction price of 35k ish + domestic shipping.
  4. Keeping in line with the latest haul thread, my in stock orders and pre-orders could be found here. http://myfigurecollection.net/profile/calubin_175
  5. I would like to know how much of the joints in Chogokin DXs are diecast? Diecast joints are not as good as plastic as they tend to expand when friction is applied onto them, making them loose.
  6. I am surprised that myfigurecollection has only listed 5 owners of the VF-0D. That means not many people on this forum use the site to track their collection. http://myfigurecollection.net/item/198517 Macross toy collecting tends to be pretty high brow due to price and the required knowledge to appreciate VFs, and collectors who specialise in this understands that Macross toys do meet multiple key factors of toy collecting, hence they may not diversify as much as general collectors who require multiple toy lines to fulfil their tastes.
  7. Is there a way to maintain the joints of Bandai DXs? Is the Yamato VF-4 Lightning the rarest of holy grails for Macross collecting, at least for modern collecting excluding vintage?

    Hi-Metal R

Probably end of this year. The Armored VF-1J looks way better than Yamato's, probably due to the less protruding breast plate.
  9. Question: Does the blue super pack(Michael's) fit well on the YF-25 Prophecy? How about the blue or Alto's tornado pack?
  10. How many in a carton? Do you own a business or have a warehouse?
  11. Macross Zero designs were the best since they were like a modern new design which retained the technological and aesthetic style of the VF-1 while incorporate visual details only made possible by modern graphical technology. The VF-19 and 25 were stealth oriented and tend to be too curved.
  12. It does appear that, much like Hobbysearch 1999, HLJ does occasionally get some loose stock(pre owned possibly) and resurrect a listing. HLJ does have a record of stocking some web exclusive items at a premium from Yamato and Volks in the past. VF-22S being one of the worst Yamato moulds, they're selling it at below current market price. Initially, the VF-22S went at a discount of 50%. There are fail products in any line. The Bandai VF-171 is one of them and I am not sure what else to avoid. I have the VF-1J Armored on pre-order but might cancel it if Hi-Metal R gets confirmed. However, I would still like to try out a Yamato VF-1 just to see how good they are as I have not owned one before.

If we look at the placeholder cards carefully, none of them are considered as formal reissues of the same "product and package". The original line was a mix of SDF TV and DYRL, but the new one seems to indicate it is all from SDF TV. M and M and VF-1A all come with Super packs which will not just be a mere reissue of Max's VF-1J from before. The yellow striped VF-1S has been named as Hikaru's VF-1S, indicating it is from TV as he piloted it in the latter half. However, there are subtle differences between Roy's TV and DYRL versions. I think with Hi Metal R, they're just going for the final form trio from SDF TV being Hikaru, Max and Milia. Hope they will refine the mould a little. Sadly, the unreleased YF-21 may not return.
  14. The two green VF-27s do have their own placeholder cards and have copyright pending and exhibition item stated on it so they are potential releases. It is unlikely whether they will do another revision on top of that applied onto the VF-27 Lucifer ver 1.5. Sadly, the Armored Alto Messiah with sniper rifle has two separate placeholder cards referring to the two released items(fighter and armor). Though, it would be fun if the had decided on branding it as a final battle version as a potential release We will probably still get a few reissues and the green VF-27s within these two years but then I think they will focus on Hi-Metal R to pave way for Macross Delta.
  15. New to Macross collecting. Bought within the past two weeks: Macross Quarter 10800 yen - Have been trying to find a nice carrier/fortress toy from various Japanese sci-fi series. Planes aren't to scale but could be handled well with fingers. VF-25S Ozma Renewal 16500 yen Armored Parts for VF-25S Ozma Renewal 40% less of market price (opened, good price for holy grail) Fell in love with the design from episode 1 of frontier. Have always liked the armored VF-1 and VF-0 since it is skinny guy bulked up. YF-25 Prophecy 10500 yen opened but in good condition Super parts for VF-25A 6000 yen Super parts for VF-25G 6000 yen (No main figure for these two guys yet, waiting for reissue of the latter) Love the super parts simply because they are designed to be an essential disposable combat jacket and equipped for all space missions. Pre-ordered YF-29 Percival Rod's from CDJapan YF-29 Alto + Super Parts 25% off market price (has been transformed once, good price for holy grail given that the super parts are 15 to 20k ish) VF-27 with super parts 16000 yen (favourite VF design wise, toy wise it may be inferior but have to cope, good successor/alternative to my other favourite, the SV-51) I don't like Alto's VF-25's head color scheme much but really needed a rival to complement the VF-27 Lucifer, hence the naming of Messiah vs Lucifer. However, technically, the YF-29 is more like a technologically on par competitor to the VF-27. Not sure if I will get any more. I am thinking the Vf-19Advance sales may flop if the wings get floppy in battroid mode from the weight of the super parts.

Eagerly waiting for this line to emerge so I could cancel my Arcadia 1/60 VF-1J Armored Valkyrie. I would also like to see more destroids and Zentradi mechs which should be better than Yamato's attempt.
