How do these compare size-wise to Yamato's YF-19? I know they are supposed to be in different scales, but is this accurately reflected in the difference in size?

Went to my local import toy shop this weekend and was hoping to score one of the VF-1S Hikaru reissues. However, when I asked how much it was selling for, I was shocked to find out that the retail price was now about US$152! If I paid cash, I could get it for around US$145. And here I was expecting its cash price to be around US$137. Defeated, I walked out of the store empty handed. Since the retail price of Yamato 1/48's doesn't seem to have increased with the reissues, coupled with our improving exchange rate with respect to the U.S. dollar, I really don't understand why the prices of imported stuff like these just keep skyrocketing.

I think anything would be better than that awful GBP 2 color scheme. This is one item I will not be sorry to see go out of production.

Oh, but those changes in the VF-19A's knee joints actually made them more durable, right? So the YF-19 2nd. version still has the fragile knee joints?

I've got a question that's probably been asked often: is it true that a later release of the Yamato YF-19 (not the VF-19A) corrected some of the problems of the first release? If so, how can one tell them apart just by looking at them sealed in ther boxes?

That's a great shot of the two mecha. It's also one of the strongest arguuments for why we'll probably never see 1:48 scale Macross Plus mecha.

These are my sentiments as well, although a fund-raiser to help pay for this site would be worthy enough for me.

I hope these toys don't appreciate in value so that all the speculators will stop eating up what few stocks there are out there, leaving the toys available at reasonable prices for actual fans and collectors.

Yup. That looks better to me. Not perfect, but better.

I think the problem with the camo GBP is actually the red parts. They stick out too much and they make the armor look too similar to the regular version. Those missle hatches and such should have been painted brown, tan or green.

I think that camo paint scheme would have looked better with some Zentraedi decals and markings, to simulate a captured Valkyrie used by mirconized Zentraedi rebels in jungle combat in South America.

How is the gunpod attached to the arm of Max's battroid? Did they copy the peg used in the Yamato's?

Hmmm. Wouldn't those 1/100 scale Valkyries actually look better beside Yamato's Q-Rau? I'm guessing they'd be about as tall as the Milia pilot figure. Anybody got any idea how they plan to package option parts like FAST/Strike Packs or GBP Armor? I don't want to buy a VF-1S Roy in July, only to find out later that the only way I can get the FAST Pack is to buy it bundled with...a VF-1S Roy.

I keep reading about folks clamoring for "Focker's Grey VF-1S TV version" of the 1/48 Yamato Valkyrie, but I honestly don't remember any differences between the TV version of the VF-1S and the 1/48 VF-1S Focker toy that I own. What are the differences, if any? Was my TV's brightness just turned up too high all this time? Are Yamato's 1/48 scale Max, Milia, and Hikaru Super VF-1J's faithful to the TV series' designs? What about the Cannon Fodder?
