I think the tackiness that I experienced was due to the ABS plastic... I didn't know that ABS didn't like top coats. And thanks for your input! I do have experience with model making and top coats... however, top coating toys is still a new thing to me -- I didn't start collecting toys until earlier this year (That Arcadia YF-19!! ... and now MP/3rd party Transformers). Would you suggest Testors Dullcote to put on toys? Testors is pretty easy for me to obtain, but I have cans of Krylon, and Mr. Super Clear. **** Back to the HMR topic... I just bought my first Hi-Metal figure via Buyee -- the VF-1J GBP for under 100 dollars! Sadly, I was screwed on shipping costs to get it, but it was my fault as opposed to Buyee (I wanted the extra shipping protection that they offer, but, man, did it raise costs more than I thought). Had I not done that shipping protection thing I would have paid about 105 USD for the item, fees, and all shipping costs... but after that shipping protection it raised total cost to about 145USD

I've always wanted to topcoat my toys, and only tried it once with Krylon flat coat, but it left it with a tacky feel (luckily, I was able to strip the top coat)... Is it the Testors Laquer Dullcote you used? Does it leave a tacky feel? Thanks in advance!
  3. My gawd, thanks for finding that image... I almost filled the hole in the neck where I was to attach the antenna (I didn't even know where to put it until I saw the pics in the link)... Thanks wmkjr!!!
  4. According to the listing and using google it says it is from "Treasure Festa" (トレフェス オーバーダード 1/100 ヌージャデルガー)
  5. I thought it was the Experten kit as well... it wasn't until I had the kit in hand and noticed there wasn't a pilot or points for the ball joints that I saw on the sheet the words "Over Dard." I am super fine and happy with my little accident/mistake because it looks a lot better than the Experten version. Now, all I need is a 1:100 Zentraedi soldier -- too bad the Experten one is super hard to find. Anywho, no update with this post -- I've just been sanding, and drilling little by little while dreamin'.
  6. Hi all, I got my hands on a 1:100 scale Nousjadeul Ger resin kit by a company called Over Dard. I've been eyeing the kit on Yahoo auctions for about a year, and finally bit the bullet and bought it after seeing of the Capitan's 1:72 Ger (1:72 scale is not my scale, hence my reason for not going in). I've built many plastic kits over the years, but this will be my second resin kit (the first was Mic Sounders from GaoGaiGar). Anywho, I thought I'd share my amateur/novice skills, and hopefully get some help from y'all... This will be hand painted with brushes and Vallejo paints as it is the medium I feel most comfortable with... Without further ado... pics: The parts. I've clipped the flash, begun sanding, dry fitting and drilling the holes for the pins... It has two options for guns it can hold in its right hand, as well as two options for the shoulder cannon (one for storage mode and one for battle mode if I can call it that). The cockpit/torso: The sculpt is amazing to my eyes, and sorry for the awful pics! If I can get a better camera I will definitely take better shots. The updates will be slow cos, ya know, life gets in the way... I've yet to finish my 1:100 Arii Regult Scout, and 1:100 Glaug that I started last year ; however, this one will take priority! Take care all! -Gus
  7. That interior looks really awesome Mintox, and I love that green!
  8. All hail Galvatron! I mean, Optimus! I mean, Captain America! That is beautiful! I like the idea for the stencil for the decal/markings. I have an Arii 1/100 Regult Scout kit whose decals are garbage and have prevented me from finishing it over the year I've owned it... now that I see a feasible solution... I will be doing what you did! Brilliant! Thanks
  9. Oooo, and 1:100! My scale. Will be watching this like a hawk! Really like it so far valid.
  10. That was a really awesome build! How he built it up is how I imagine some of the other builders on this site build... building with confidence (albeit with more care )... Also, I liked that he used krylon primer.
  11. What the friction' frook! that is mind boggling! thanks for sharing it, but now I look at my models and see that they pale in comparison
  12. The camera/visor on the S made my jaw drop.... but the A, oh the A head.... so beautiful, so clean, so sharp! I love it!
  13. Thanks for the detailed notes! I use acrylic as well, but mainly brush by hand cos I am too cheap to buy a airbrush . One day, when I have the guts, I will post some of my models.
  14. This is a great build! The colors and paint job are amazing (even the girlfriend thought so as she passed by). How many coats of orange did you have to do? I find painting orange to be very taxing.
  15. That image is totally what I felt when I saw the completed masters! (also reminds me of my youth and watching that show) Criminy, that is one amazing Ger! Those details are superb!!!! (more exclamation points!)... kinda wish I went the 1/72 route instead of 1/100 :'(
  16. WOW! That looks so great! You work so quickly, it's like... blink, and boom already another update! I wish I had the skills to sculpt!
  17. Wow! I really like them! I bought a QQ over the summer and have been working on it off-and-on since. You made yours beautiful. I hope to make mine look at least a third as good as yours!

    My SD SDF-1

I just came across this on Amazon and thought it looked awesome.... and now with your photos it makes me really want to buy it, but there are other things i must buy. Anywho, great lighting on the photos!! I really like what you did! Oh, and did you panel line the SDF?
  19. Words cannot convey the thoughts I am thinking... That is just way too awesome!
  20. I love this. It kind of makes me want to build another 1/48 myself as I didn't know about the photo etched parts.
  21. Wow, thanks for that video! I kinda want to get my hands on the Wave Strike kits now. * Imagines building up the gerwalk * (only downside is having to buy two kits...) And wow, Hikuro, you got both kits for $40, or each? That is a huge deal if you got both for 40!!!!
  22. I really love the hints of red trim! So beautifully nice
