  1. I dunno, I feel pretty confident that no hostile power will ever see that thing on their radars
  2. Update: the $9.01 price is still available from a non-Prime seller, but the ones sold directly by Amazon went up to $11 and change. Still a great deal; the MSRP on the kit is around 3000 yen.
  3. I love it, worth one caveat: it has to be Guld before his eyes exploded (omg spoilers)! Really surprised you didn't go the M7 route, though. Don't you want to hear Chie sing your Xmas favorites?
  4. I'm dredging this old thread up, because: A) I've recently become addicted to HoiHoi-san & co, and B) If anyone is interested in the "Mini" version kit from Kotobukiya, Amazon has them with Prime shipping for an absurdly low price ($9.01 as I write this, and dropping daily). This is the black&white version that comes with a tiny pre-painted figure instead of the "HoiHoi-Carry" wagon.
  5. Typically, if Amazon quotes a guaranteed "delivery" date for Prime shipping, and they miss that date, they will offer to a month to your subscription if you call them on it (up to a maximum of 12 occurrences per subscription year). Although, in this case, you might have made out even better with that refund. P.S. I've had several "misses" in my first year as a subscriber, including one in my free trial month, but Amazon has stood behind their agreement and given us the free month each time. I won't personally complain about that. But everyone will feel differently about which Prime benefits are valuable to them, and what they are worth.
  6. Fantastic! I admit, I was checking this kit out myself because I loved the design, but I was really put off by the original colors. You made a dramatic improvement and it really highlights the best features of the suit. Mike S., I think you've been similarly successful in changing the palette of your Crossbone Maoh to show off the suit's design without some the distractions of the overdone original colors. I especially like the feet. If you had a rough time with the paint, it certainly doesn't show in those photos. UN_MARINE, can't wait to see some full shots. I know some people feel like panel-lining doesn't look "realistic," but I'd like to show them your work. I feel like the way you've done it really comes across as a hard-working war machine. SchizophrenicMC, I can't get enough of your Gundam X! I think you're right that even a "straight" paint job makes a big difference between the look of paint versus bare plastic. Personally, it's just more hassle than I've wanted to get into with my builds, but I can't deny the improvement. Sorry I haven't had a lot of Gunpla to show off lately. I've been building, but mostly other things...
  7. I don't know anything about it, but I dig that Studio Nue logo.
  8. Totally agree with Hikuro that the gray and black markers are more like ink pens, while the rest of the markers are actual paint (but can be easily removed with alcohol). Something I have noticed on many Gundam (paint) markers is that the paints separate, and no reasonable amount of shaking will mix them well. The silver portion of metallic paints and the white portion of light colors settles to the bottom, so if you store the markers tip-up, you will just get a thin, clear laquer-like version of the color when you use them. I notice this a lot with red and yellow. This can actually be handy for painting clear parts, but if I need good coverage in one pass I'll typically store the markers tip-down for 15 minutes before using them. Honestly, I rarely use them as markers; I typically just press the tip down to get a little paint on a glass surface, and then paint it on with a fine brush.
  9. Wait, is that some kind of company-wide thing, or just your store? I don't know where collectors would be without Detolfs!
  10. While I don't disagree with you, I think that having such a completely stupid explanation was also a problem.
  11. So, the kit we know as "Beargguy III" is "Beargguy II" in Build Fighters? 'Cause there's no such kit as Beargguy II in our world. Sometimes this show makes my brain hurt!
  12. Wife and I absolutely loved the episode this week. It was like the best parts of the Beargguy and Gunpla Boot Camp episodes from season one combined. The way Mirai finished the fight was just perfect - and totally appropriate against the Turn A! BTW, what was up with the Beargguy III kit becoming the Beargguy II? Was that just to sever the connection to China and "Mr" Beargguy? Everything about it was identical to the real kit except the name.
  13. He said he selected the correct account, so they probably already had multiple accounts on file. That sucks, Hikuro. It sounds like you can't catch a break
  14. I think they at least generally did a good job of saving "Holy Lonely Night" for when it really counted.
  15. I hear ya! Planet dance got old pretty fast, but I have no limits where Totsugeki Love Heart is concerned. And where's the love for the MacPlus soundtrack? It barely got used in M7, but every second of Mai Yamane is golden. I'm just kidding around though - I think Skull Leader's take was very balanced.
  16. My feeling is that gold plastic nearly always looks terrible. You can paint it, but then it may as well be the standard version. I'm not saying I understand the appeal of these store-branded kits, but limited run items often increase in value. I'd keep it on the box; most of the fun in a kit like that is simply having it.
  17. I wonder how many people reading that story thought, "Why did that girl put eyes on a coconut?"
  18. The parts-swapping on the MG is entirely optional, so I don't see why the PG couldn't do the same and maintain its "perfect transformation" cred. Although the SD Unicorn pulls off a very good splitable horn without magnets, just by having the joints angled in such a way that the two halves press closed. I dunno - I seem to be in a small minority that isn't bothered by a little separation on the horn, even in my MG. Maybe I've spent so long with Transformers that I just don't notice egregious panel gaps anymore.
  19. i can't quite make out the pilot's ears. Are you sure he's Vulcan?
  20. Better yet, all of a sudden she won't shut up, like the Flower Girl in the M7 radio dramas!
  21. And what about Mylene? She may not be an idol, but I'll bet she could rock a mean Nyan Nyan!
