  1. Man, Yamato vs Toynami threads just pop up like cicadas, huh. The search function is your bestest friend ever.
  2. I think that was the original marketing scheme for overseas distribution, but seeing as how Mospeada was never really popular outside of "The New Generation," I highly doubt that this will ever reach fruition.
  3. Foreigners to Japan identifying this or that animated feature as being "anime" or "not anime" probably would just make most real Japanese folks confused, or at least cause some to roll their eyes for such a bastardization of their own term for Gaijin purposes. It 's a convenient label though, as far as english is concerned-- but I just find it ironic that it's used by some to identify what's pure and Japanese, imbuing it with special recognition over stuff tainted by Gaijin-- when the label used in this manner is itself the corruption of an originally Japanese term. -Al What I find really ironic is that people keep on thinking "anime" is a Japanese word. It's not. It's French.
  4. That'd be one cursed valk. Excellent custom; I really like how the scorch marks accent the actual damage. The patches are a nice touch too.
  5. Excellent! Did you use any sets besides Street punk/transcorcher? That's a kickass kitbash!
  6. It was some guy claiming to be from the future (2146, if I remember), and selling off the rights to a line in his screenplay, which he already knows is a best seller, and that he also knows that the winner will make a million in royalties. It had some pretty interesting things in the description, like how the king of the Earth is a sentient Octupus.
  7. How appropriate phrased since that's Scott Bernard Wouldn't it be "Great Stick?" Okay, I'll stop. But DAMN, that is one slick looking custom. Makes me wish I could cough up the money to buy one of those old Gakkens.
  8. They're made by the same people who did Stikfas, and the boxes have the stikfas logo on the bottom. Appearance-wise, the Xevoz are more "specific" in that they represent a certain archetype intead of just a bare figure, and their joints are tighter. Xevoz has been around quite awhile, but it seems to be fading away from retail fast, due to lack of sales. Anyhow, the series 4 Xevoz (the ones Doc P are looking for) are pretty rare, as either the retailers have not stocked them, or the scalpers got to them first. Shame really, I liked this line.
  9. My (Alternators) Grimlock's left door keeps popping up. It's easily re-attached, but it's kind of annoying. Is this isolated to me, or does anyone else's do this as well?
  10. Acura/Honda Hmmm... those knees don't look very bendy at all... I think you're right about the legs being transformed backwards.
  11. Now for something a little different... This is obviously NOT Macross. The PL-004 Avenger naval fighter, by the Roland-Kovacs design bureau of Pole-Land. For a joint comic I'm working on. Plane mode, description, and not-so-good robot mode Robot mode of 2-seater variant, replaces laser cannon for more conventional dual .50 machineguns. Way better robot mode, with 503rd Screaming Eagles squadron logo.
  12. Uh, no, they're not. Rather, the 1/35's are huge. The MPC in fighter mode is easily about the length of a Yamato 1/60.
  13. I want to shake the hand of anyone stupid enough to buy this.
  14. Considering the pilot figure and armor that came with the 1/48 (Or 1/55 as Toynami claims) Legioss/alpha is already tiny, then a 1/100 figure would probably be incredibly minuscule.
  15. Constantine was actually created by Alan Moore for the Swamp Thing comics; made his debut there, then went on to Hellblazer. Haven't watched the movie yet; does Keanu even sound remotely British?
  16. Wow, I hope to god that they have a miracle inker; that sketch is all sorts of rushed. Why does that chick holding the Gallant only have three fingers on her right hand? And what's wrong with the Igaas' claws? They look too bulbous. EDIT: Good God, is that Yellow?
  17. An OVA is a straight-to-video animation. OVAs usually have higher animation budgets and timescales than TV animations, so are generally of higher quality. For the differences between RT and Macross, you can look in this helpful thread.
  18. Once this makes contact with the Doom movie, the universe will implode. But seriously, read the comments on the bottom of that page; Uwe Boll is now officially the world's scapegoat.
  19. Read this thread for the gory details: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...pic=132&st=2360 They seemed to get better around the third volume (green) though.
  20. I don't see why a lot of people don't like the 1/60; sure, the 1/48 is now pretty much universally regarded as the best, but I think the 1/60 has better opportunities and the perfect size for whipping out and randomly playing around with. The MPC VFs are obviously crap, no need to go through that again. The MPC Alphas are good if you didn't get a QC bomb, but those aren't really Macross toys. Never owned a 1/55, so I really can't say. And the 1/100 Banprestos are as sturdy as what you're paying for them.
  21. You pretty much just answered your own question; scalpers just buy them up in ridiculously large amounts, and sell em off on ebay, leaving the "shelfwarmers" to sit there and rot. Yes, scalpers suck.
