  1. He does go out with a literal bang in DYRL if I remember correctly. It's not Kamjin he kills though, just some nameless Zentran. He does point the gun into the guys back and shoots through him into his own valk after taking a thorough butt-kicking. Then the whole valk goes boom creating an opening for Hik and Misa to fly through.
  2. Hehehe, you have exceeded your data transfer limit... what I saw was cool though!

keep in mind, the $$ are going to a good cause, try not to hate the bidders too much

I believe that's the answer you were looking for... or maybe hoping not to hear.

What did you do to that Yamato 1/72 YF-19 to get the legs to angle out like that in GERWALK mode... that's custom right? I'm not just missing something on my own? Good job on all that stuff, even your MPCs look good!
  6. Roy joined years and years before what we see in Macross... he's a veteran of the anti-unification wars. So, the assumption would be that you can't go being in war for so long without getting a little beat-up at some point (although, in reality, you certainly can). I do believe you're right... I used to think they actually showed blood in that scene but I think the only scene you see Roy's blood in is when he's hunched over dead.
  7. Well, I don't think we're really qualified to say that. After all, I don't think we even know what exactly cause the wound. I think this was debated in a thread once before. The presumption being that the Q-Rau's weaponry would have left HUGE holes in Roy so he must have been hit by something else. The most likely canidate being that his plane was hit and something exploded and the debris flew forward, through Roy's seat, and into his back. The debris obviously would still be in Roy since we never see it shoot through his chest so yes, he would likely be in immense pain. I actually think KingNor has a good point about Roy's death probably being more alluring to the Japanese audience. Roy stomachs an insane amount of pain, goes to his girlfriend's apartment so he could see her one last time, then dies without letting the pain win or getting emotional. I'm a Westerner but that seems like a variation of the ultra honorable death we see in Eastern culture flicks pretty often and it also appears in some good films coming from this side of the sea also (Westerns have some good examples). Since I'm pretty sure that's where the director of the series was going with Roy's death (This guy even dies cool!) I'm pretty sure it's a safe assumption that his wounds were going to be fatal no matter what. Roy's probably been wounded many times in battle and I think the audience is supposed to assume that he was acutely aware that he was on his death march and he would rather die with his girlfriend than in a hospital.
  8. You know what they'll probably do? They'll probably release a combo VF-1S Hikaru and Strike Parts giftset later that won't be a convention exclusive.
  9. Your Mac+ display looks far better (much less cluttered) than my own.
  10. I swear, I have no bias toward the MPC (for the love of God, why would someone be biased toward an MPC??). I admit I had no idea the legs could be angled outward on the HCM... Looks like I'll have to do an edit! Still, I don't think it changes the fact that the MPC is just an updated HCM (more a mating of the chunky and HCM). I agree, there are a couple areas the HCM looks better, especially the nose and cockpit section of fighter mode, but that was all in the review. The HCM is great, it's just not as detailed, not painted as well, and desperately needs the knee swivel. In the review it mentioned that I was not using the gun, missiles, or heat shield because they're still on sprues and I don't have the heart to remove them. The review also mentions that many aspects of which toy looks better, especially battloid mode, are completely in the eye of the beholder. If you love the look of the HCM and are willing to overlook the lack of detail, paint, and articulation in favor of that look then obviously you'll disagree. Here's the new edited version: I toned the language down and added a few sentences. Edit II - Didn't the Toynami tail pack exist BEFORE the Yamato tail pack? I mean, Toynami was showing the MPC at the 2001 SDCC which is before Yamato released it's 1/60 version toy. Ooh, actually I just looked at the SDCC version and it did have a different backpack... very interesting... Maybe they did steal it. The new backpack was shown in 11/01 with the move to 1/55. Eh, either way, that's all politics, I'm just comparing one toy to another for fun.
  11. Thanks! I agree but there are enough similarities where it seemed (and was) a fun project.
  12. Claudia killed him... it's the only way. What we see in the show is the version she told the MP inquisitors...
  13. Um, Dean, I think you may do better with your complaints over at Robotech.com. Also, I think you have a fundamentally flawed idea of how Robotech was created and the restrictions that were in place during its creation. While it's okay to hate Robotech, and often encouraged, it's best to have the whole picture before you criticize its production. Story-wise, you're right, it's not very cohesive especially in its use of mecha... but there is a large story as to why this is the case.
  14. My jaw dropped when I read that, after the shock i have been laughing pretty non-stop. if that is a subtitle error on your copy of Macross it'd be HILARIOUS. I know my sub of Macross is pretty terrible but that's much much worse.
  15. That's not fair, a minty super in the box still goes for a fair amount. I'd say $75. The supers were superior the normal 1/60 line-up in more ways than just their armor and people tend to think "If i'm going to get any 1/60 it'll be one of the super ones."
  16. Man, I hope it's not a problem on my side. I'm at work though accessing it through a nasty firewall and it seems to be doing just fine (uh, just don't tell my boss )
  17. Lame, sorry, site may have been down for a moment, when I click on it it works. It's also the first article if you go to www.anymoon.com
  18. "That is the sexiest damn hobby I have ever seen... I just need to tear your clothes off right now." What, you don't believe me?
  19. Okay, since A1 is no longer around to do it... Your thread needs more Southern Cross
  20. A transformer that came with all the accoutrements of a Macross valkyrie right down to the super armor? Nope, the company that made Macross toys in Japan went under. Bandai got ahold of the rights to the old molds Takatoku had been using but in the transition from Takatoku to Bandai a company named Matsuhiro made the original Jetfires and sold them in the US. All Matsuhiro did was change the paint scheme and blunt the nose (to pass US toy standards for blunt instrument trauma to kid's faces). Bandai then came along and removed the Macross logo and made a few other changes. This is probably a somewhat distorted history though, there are some legitimate Jetfire experts on this board that could help you more (and have probably told this story somewhere in the archives already). Edit - sorry if anything sounds snippy, i'm just trying to help quickly since I'm really tired.

I did a search for threads having Jetfire in the title... you should probably do the same... looks like there's lots of info. This is also probably in the Newb thread somewhere)
  22. LOL, this conversation has now officially become the same conversation as every previous Shadow Chronicles thread has right before they all tailed off.
  23. Okay, I had a tough day at work so rather than staying there and getting frustrated I came home and finished up my comparison of an HCM vs an MPC. Please check it out here: HCM vs MPC Comparison @ Anymoon.com Let me know what you think! Feel free to correct me on anything or disagree, I can always ammend the text if there's something I over-looked.
  24. Hey, if they did go bankrupt does that mean that their licenses, and the RT brand in general, could be swooped up by better companies? Would that also mean that Yamato and others would have carte blanche in distributing outside of Japan?
  25. Hey so I double-checked, what do you think is better for preservation, should I keep the launchers loaded or unloaded? I go back and forth. I think having them unloaded might make more sense....
