Those Lotii look great! -
Ooh can we just start throwing out fun ideas? Here's what I'd like to see: The next Macross should show mankind at some absurdly advanced level. There can be Vajra interactions, superb new weapons, and political intrigue. There could be idols and huge concerts. There'd be friendly Zentran and Meltran interactions. Then, there'd be a war between these human factions with skirmishes. About 70% into the show you'd realize that you hadn't seen any English on any of the text and what you're actually witnessing is the fall of Protoculture. The last several episodes would be mecha pron involving massive war, including the advent and banishing of the Protodevlin, and the show would finally climax with the cast of Protoculture we were familiar with the whole show escaping on some sort of arch leaving the idea that they may have found a safe place out there somewhere. EDIT - I do realize that they might have to massage our understanding of the development of the Zentraedi a bit to make this work. Oh yeah, and of course the show has to involve the DYRL song in the final episode.

I wonder if it's a different color also? A gray/blue scheme might be pretty tastey.

1) Toynami MPC VF-1 2) Toynami 1/100 VF-1 3) Yamato 1/60 V1 VF-1 4) Yamato 1/72 First Edition YF-19 5) Yamato 1/60 V1 VF-0 Edit - I dedicate this post to all the people who ruin online satisfaction surveys thinking "1 out of 5" is the best possible score because it has the number 1 in it.

Sounds sooooooooo Robotech. That's not to say there isn't a precedent in Macross (Nome) but I kinda like that they don't do too much of that and instead have the music be what keeps popping up through generations.. it's kinda real. I think the Nome revival was Kawamori trying to make Macross Zero relevant since it was kind of awwkard and feels like a story he didn't have the time or resources to tell properly.

Wow, all three of the DYRL VF-1A toys huh? They should sell them as a gift set (yes I know that would never happen).

They give the impression that the turbines are pushing the car forward by stating that the force from the air is pushed out against the rear venier to create downforce. That makes it seem to me like a lot of air must be getting pushed out. -

Thanks for the video card input, valid points and I'm sure I probably wouldn't even notice any slight dip in processing power. Yeah, the power supply made me a little nervous and I guess the rule of thumb with power supplies shoudl be to never be a little nervous about them. I'm not going with the multiple video cards off the bat... I figure that will be my form of scalability. This time next year I may add a second card and hope to keep up with technology a little bit. Right now I think I'm actually leaning toward that Gateway. It has a few specs that are a little less desirable but I'm just not sure I trust Cyberpower. -
Yep, definitely a 1A DYRL Hikaru.

Ebay completed auctions are a start. After that, you list things, if they don't sell you drop the price a bit. Then you keep dropping until someone buys it.

I'm looking for a beefy new system that will last a few years and do decently playing a few games, editing photos, and might even work if I ever have the time to get into some 3D design. So, I went to Cyberpower and built this PC from their "Mega Special IV": *BASE_PRICE: [+1189] CAS: Apevia X-Dreamer 3 Mid-Tower Gaming Case w/ Side-Panel Window & Temperature Display (Black Color with Black Ring & Blue LED Fan) CD: Asus BR-04B2T 4X Blu-Ray Player [+44] (BLACK COLOR) CD2: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive [+21] (BLACK COLOR) CPU: [special] Intel® Core™ i7-950 3.06 GHz 8M Intel Smart Cache LGA1366 CS_FAN: Maximum 120MM Case Cooling Fans for your selected case [+9] FAN: NZXT Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan (Enhanced Cooling Performance + Extreme Silent at 20dBA) FLASHMEDIA: INTERNAL 12in1 Flash Media Reader/Writer (BLACK COLOR) HDD: 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Single Hard Drive) MEMORY: 6GB (2GBx3) DDR3/1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Module (A Data) +27 MOTHERBOARD: * (3-Way SLI Support) GigaByte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 Chipset SLI/CrossFireX Ultra Durable™3 Triple-Channel DDR3/1600 ATX Mainboard w/ 7.1 Dolby Audio, eSATA, GbLAN, USB3.0, 2 x SATA-III RAID, IEEE1394a, 4 Gen2 PCIe, 2 PCIe X1 & 1 PCI NETWORK: Onboard Gigabit LAN Network OS: Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium [+104] (64-bit Edition) POWERSUPPLY: * 800 Watts - XtremeGear Gaming Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready SERVICE: STANDARD WARRANTY: 3-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY PLUS LIFE-TIME TECHNICAL SUPPORT SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO USB: Built-in USB 2.0 Ports VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 1GB 16X PCIe Video Card (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA) _PRICE: (+1441) That seems like a pretty good bruiser but I've read bad things about Cyberpower. I've added another $19 for "pro wiring" because I've heard otherwise they connect your system very poorly. Anyway, they have a B+ with the BBB so I think it's a case where the complainers are much louder than the happy people. I also read a review that Cyberpower will let you build a PC with incompatible parts and will ship it to you without caring and I'm not sure of myself enough to think I nailed it (although I varied only very slightly from a stock set up they offer). The other choice is the Gateway FX6803-35 which is almost the same price, has a better video card and more memory (9gigs @ 1333) and slightly slower CPU (2.. I have no idea if there is a difference between the FX6803-25 and the -35 so if anyone knows of one I'd like to hear it. Yes, I know I'd be world's better off building my own system... but that's just not in the cards. As I said, I'm not slick with hardware and I'm only good with the software I use regularly. Any opinions about the computer rig would be great to hear - EDIT - lots of errors are fixed now -
DX is "non-scale" (meaning we won't know its scale until someone busts out a tape measure and does some math), that's why it's also considered part of the Robots Damashii (Robot Spirits) line. The Yamato is allegedly 1/100 (I've never done the math on that one either). It looks like the Robot Spirits/DX Koenig may at least be in scale with the Robots Spirits VF-25 toys (which are a bit smaller than 1/100 also).

I know I'm in the minority here but I like the shiny plastic... makes it feel like a toy. Still, I love me some SV-51 and some YF-21 but this argument could be taken silly and compare the VF-27 to Yamato's YF-19 offerings or the detachable arm V2s and suddenly the VF-27 seems a lot better. Each company makes their so-so (or lousy) toys and their good ones. In a little bit here we'll be able to compare Yamato's Koenig to Bandai's, that should be interesting.

Ugh, put up a "mega" review on all the CMs ride armors on anymoon.com last night. Check it out... and let me know if you spot any problems, it was pretty late when I was getting it all online. There is some new content there in the form of line art comparisons in both modes... I also made some of the existing pics bigger with higher resolution. -
That's not entirely fair... seeing as the VF-27 has some sort of floating in a translucent bubble of doom cockpit which would be really hard to emulate (although they kinda did with the color of the canopy on the inside). Still, the VF-27 is a bit less like a model than Yamato's SV-51 but if memory serves it also MSRP'ed at $50ish less per unit.

I posted 4 pics, you don't see any similarities? Obviously there are lots of differences there, and the newer Aston Martins definitely have greater differences, but it's one bland English roadster next to one apparent homage English roadster. I dunno, I'm just saying, if I had $150K back in the early 2000s I would have wanted something that looked a bit more unique. -

This needs pics. It's true, they're not like identical or anything, but I see some similarities: a couple side sets: In my searching, I did see that Aston Martin has updated their tail lights to look much more unique, I approve. -

I haven't seen Aston Martin's line-up in a long time but the last few times I've seen them in person I thought they looked way too similar to Mazda's Miatas. If they still look similar I'd have no problem taking a Bentley over an Aston Martin. -
huh? These are more expensive because of the molds? I thought the whole idea of making these out of a material other than ABS was because the molds for this stuff were way cheaper to make.

Agreed, Bandai ain't makin' no MacZero destroid. The VF-1 Hi-metal is more different from the V2 1/60 than the V2 1/60 is different from the 1/48 VF-1 so I'm not really sure how that math works. Also, you said Bandai wouldn't do something Yamato didn't do... but this toy proves you wrong by already having differences so it seems a silly argument to now labor over.
-
I'll steal your pictures. Just post lots of pictures somewhere of Macross or Robotech toys I don't own... or knock-offs... and let me know where you posted them and I'll do you the favor of using them.
-
Yep. Pictures from my site are used on Harmony Gold's convention tour without permission and with my tiny stamp removed. Also, I took pictures from a French site for a Gakken review (and credited the site) only to find that the original pictures were here on MW and had been lifted and cropped by the French site to remove their citing.

Definitely no metal rod just packaged with the toy as an extra... I can't imagine it falling out out of the toy either. Got a pic?

You guys just aren't thinking positively.
