    Yea the first episode really is the weakest of the bunch. It's not till the end of it that things start to pick up. As for the complaints about her physical appearance, I'll just say that her character has never really been about that. Just like Spidey in many incarnations is depicted as an extremely slim (if well toned) kid, but is still super strong. Also a part of her character is how people assume she's weak just because she's a woman who isn't physically imposing, so her strength isn't really supposed to be obvious on the surface. I do agree about the action sequences though. The hand to hand fights were fine, but anything involving jumping and all that was pretty weak.

    You could always buy when they're available and if the design still doesn't grow on you just sell them later on. Pretty sure that video was meant to act as a preview of some sort. To show us what the anime will look like. I could be wrong though.

    Man, I get a serious Macross: The Ride vibe from the -31, both the design itself and the paintjob. It really looks like a racing plane. I love how sleek it is too, without a bunch of engines and missile pods and beam cannons stuck on all over it like some other valks I can name. The sleekness goes for both valks actually

    Maybe they'll pull a VF-171 and it won't transform until halfway through the series. Then again, I highly doubt Bandai's ability to resist showing the other modes of this valk until the episode airs. Nowadays we get Gundam models before the show even premieres. Although I suppose they could just focus most of the promotion on the VF-31 and not released the 262 till later

    The VF-25 seemed pretty successful didn't it? Plus I don't think it has the problem of looking "too heroic" that prevented the Kawomori from using the -19 as the main NUNS fighter back in Frontier. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing some 19EFs in this.

    Yea it was mentioned. There was half-joking speculation that he could be Alto's son. (I also suggested a time-displaced and de-aged Alto himself because who knows what crazy adventures the Vajra Queen took him on)

    I guess all the "it makes sense the sculpt is different because one is a YF and the other is a VF" guys will have to find a another justification for the differences between the Arcadia and this new Bandai version lol You are aware that that pic isn't of the YF-19 right?

    Wait, what???? *runs over to toy section* You're forgetting the portion that actually genuinely like what they see. I'm just glad we're getting at least two female pilots. One from the trailer and one on the poster of the Kingom of Wind. I like the character designs so far, except for the actual outfits the valk girls wear. But hey, they're idols, it's part of the job. It will be interesting to see Macross against the backdrop of a Medeival/Feudal influenced society

    I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to say it. I'm guessing the research data from the ACTIVE went towards this valk. I don't see how Bandai can resist such a milk heavy property as Macross R though, the VF-19 repaints alone! Still hoping for an OVA eventually

    Damn. I getcha. But it's not as if everything a person likes would necessarily show up in his work. Especially not right away. It could also be something he started liking later on. And yea I wasn't implying that saying "he was just doing promotion" would have been an invalid point, just that it's the obvious rebuttal. We have no way of knowing of course, but i don't think it's a stetch, especially since dedicating a whole series to an idol group would indicate some level of interest. Ahh, thanks for the info. Well we know two mains are definitely missing from the promo images: The blue haired guy (Alto's son ) and the red haired Zentran/Zolan chick. I'm guessing she's one of the pilots from the Tactical Sound Unit. I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully we find out soon. That was the pattern yes, it's all over now though. Although you could look at this as being delta-winged with a forward-swept edge, so maybe it doesn't count. Then again the 9 series had a similar design in the 19F/S, just not as pronounced.

    I was wondering the same thing too, since that female pilot from the trailer isn't in any of the shots of the idol group. Anyone know if the -31 is a two-seater? That's pretty clearly an Ex-Gear shoulder armor right behind the pilot.
