  1. No Kawamori = No Macross. Yeah I agree. Kawamori is the author of Macross and his vision or his named heirs (trying to get him to adopt me) have the final say on what is Macross. Macross still is a decent production. It looks and feels like Macross. Might just be a remake of DYRL but I enjoyed when I first saw it. Mikimoto still did the character designs. My only real beef about it was the cheaper lower quality art in the final episode.
  2. I heard of similar stories of vultures being present once stock goes on the shelves. One story involves a scalpers calling several stores ahead of time and have each one hold a box from him. As the story goes another collector caught on and walk up to customer service asked if there's a box for him. According to the story the scalper confronted him in the parking lot and yell "Your ruining how I make my living." Whether stories like this our true. There are indeed vultures and not every TRU really carries about enforcing scalpers and hordes. There's is no way any of us can fairly compete. We could take a day off of work to get to the stores first but who wants to lose their job over toys? Those who plan to resell them on ebay can afford to. Some retailers like TRU have their online stores where you can order the a lot of the same stuff. Some collectors do that to avoid the trouble. I only do it when I have a coupon. Not only are you charage shipping and handing but an item will might be listed a few dollars more than at retail.
  3. Great the offical Hentai is just the next sequel away! The next animated project will be a prequel of Zor beeping a slug in flower garden. He then steals the flowers and slug envolves into to the Regiss. You don't want to know how Breetai loses his eye.
  4. Woe to the older Macross fan who decides to their kids with them and finds strippers giving half of us lap dances.
  5. Okay time to test it. Search Word: "Boob" Show Results as Posts Results 2 pages worth. Only 2 pages? The search engine must be broke then!
  6. Why thank you mister suck up.
  7. so the newer generation of anime fans focus on newer mecha shows because they are embarassed by the crap animation of older anime. There was one example of a guy trying to get his friends to watch macross but because it was so old, people tended to not care even if it was good for its time About that I don't get it. That being that older anime has embarassing crap animation. Granted some shows animation suck as and some of the episodes of Macross that were done but anime friend is a good example but there were a lot of shows in the eighties that had great animation and great stories. The art style was retro but they were master pieces. The new anime just has 'anime new anime style' but the art isn't really better it just looks new. We can take screen grabs from a dozen shows and most of us can guess with in a period of five years when it they made. Newer isn't better it's just newer looking.
  8. Okay the day before I started this post I came back from Kmart. Not my favorite store but I near in the same shopping center I was at so I visited their toy department. The were a little behind in action figures but the selection was good for Kmart. According to the "old rules" if Kmart has a decent ammount of action figures on the shelfs that are a little old it must mean the Toysrus has to have just gotten in a large order the latest and newest! Today I visited my bank and since a TRU wasn't too far I made a slight detour. Not only haven't they added anything really new since the Summer they are starting to use some of the action figure retail space to store extra Barbie and Dora and explorer stuff. Mind you the girls toys are some distance away from the boy stuff. TRU just isn't ordering any more action figures or employees or scalpers are picking things up by the case. When a store like Kmart has better selection then things are really bad. Edit: I refuse to edit before posting!
  9. How about we use the term "Questionable ideas"
  10. I'm fine with #4. There are the same ones that are being used now just moved around. I have some extra time these next two days. I'll move them around to test number #4 to see how it looks.
  11. Try add it as an attachement. If it's too big well then host it off site.
  12. Storywise, I doubt it will be any better. All they're doing is trying to pin all 3 very different anime into what freakshow of an animation then labelling it as 'Original'. It's Sentinels all over again, this time with better looking babes in skin-tight suits with a fair amount of cleavage. My thought exactly. What I'm seeing screams "Sentinel: The Revenge of Robotech!" It hard not to bash the story based on the art. It is animation after all. Good art is key! I use to collect comic books. Sure I had my favorite titles but I dumbed them once they started switching to a less talented artist. When I was into Robotech I thought the Sentinels was gonna be the bomb! IMO the Sentinel mini cartoon wasn't that bad compared the rest of the Sentinels media. Most of the novels and the comics screamed trash. Before I sold my Robotech comic collection last year I flipped through the comics. I haven't seen them in years. They filled the void back then but alot was just trash. Stories and designs were reduced to amature crap. I used to draw my own pictures of Robotech characters aged in new uniforms. My 13 year designs looked pretty gay and crappy. I swear HG most have digged through my trash can and stole half of them. Besides pictures what Robotech fan didn't try to fill the void with their own fan fiction? I'm sure a alot of it was just your Robotech fan boy dreams. In hindsight do Robotech fan boy dreams make a good story? Maybe the story won't be equal to that of 13 year old's fanfic but the art sure looks like it.
  13. If this series is going to use the Sentinels blueprint and/or the books as a template, then I will start to worry The art so far and the prequel comics seem to suggest that.
  14. English versions of Macross games in japan would be nice but if you import them you still have to modify your game system to play them.
  15. Wow Robocrap! Okay the character designs suck major ass. What with the pointed chins and super long necks. Remember the dark ages of Robotech and Macross when the only things you had to depend on was your own cheesy fanfic or some crappy comic book licence? These pictures take me back to that time. What happen to 'Sentinels didn't happen' and were gonna do Robotech right this time?
  16. Have you picked up any of the evolutions sets Roy? Nope their too expensive and half the time I'm not intereted in 2 third of the figures. Maybe in a few days I'll take some new picks.
  17. Nowadays there are many working adults and toylines are also being geared towards working adults. Working adults have the $ to buy up the shelf in multiple stores. Plus they have the resources to hit the stores once the new stocks come in. Other adult casual collectors hit the store when are off work or on the weekends. It just takes one horder or scalper to hit everystore when everyone else is at work. Strange this is I heard people defend the scalper and horder. Look at it from another perspective, the chasing is often as good as the toys themselves. The harder to get, the more intrigue that toy is. Remember that state of esctacy you reached when THAT parcel finally arrived at your front door? I get excited tracking down and finding a import or an true rare toy. Not some new toy that should be avaliable in retail at the MSRP. Even should you find an online retailer selling a new action figure at the MSRP. The shipping charges will be just a dollar less than the figure. Few six dollar action figures are really worth eleven dollars to me. Like wise when I have a day off I'm not in the mood to hit all the toy section of every store with in a 25 mile radius just to find a couple of items. Some people do that. I just check the stores that I am already in for something else. Sometimes I strike good but most of the time I see empty pegs or stuff or peg warmers from a year ago. These should be easy to find, affordable domestics. You shouldn't have to be lucky, dishonest or obessed to get them.
  18. Was there a page one of this topic? In any case I got a PM from one of the posters here. The swastika symbol wasn't always one of evil. The Nazi's use of that symbol has given it a bad rap. In the proper contexts not all swastikas are bad but the casual poster here isn't going to see the intended context right away. There was a comment about the avatars of the nude female form in the private message. Which ones are were being talked about? Most of those are moderated. I recall one of some topless model whose arms or hands are covering her breasts. Even though it is nude it still covered and I don't recall the pose looking vulgar or her facial expression moaning or anything like that. As a general rule on questionable avatars. There are some here that I find tasteless but which I don't remove. My personal taste alone isn't enough unless the avatar is clearly bad. For all other ones that fall in the questionable area I typically wait for someone to send an offical complaint in which I take a look and if I agree the avatar is fixed.
  19. Does every subject need it's own super thread? Anyways I've collected 1/18 stuff as well. Here's an old pic I took a few months ago.
  20. Remember the good ole days? If you're my age that's from 1980 to 1990. The toy selection of your local drug store might have sucked any time besides xmas but you could always go to some nice toy store on the weekends and find every thing. Skip ahead a decade. My generation grew up and a lot have become adult collectors. The social stigma against it not as strong as might have been. Now when we are looking for toys its not that easy. I'm not refering to expensive imports that are hard too find to begin with but domestics that should be cheap and everywhere. You read on a message board about the new line of super deformed man and his mighty armored warriors of freedom. Perhaps you decide that will would like to get two figures out of the next wave. Misses Deformed with elevating Skirt and armored warrior with the special midnight blue armor. In the old days you could luck out and find at the nearest drug store or go a toy store and find nearly all the figures. Today's toy stores selection is sad. There are stories of bad disturbution. The toy makers making less of the likely popular characters on purpose. The Walmat effect, Then there are horders or scalpers who run to the stores once they open. In some cases having an in with people who work in the stores. You can combat them by playing their trick against them. Some collectors will drive to twenty stores hunting down a certain figure or check every store they pass when they are on the road. I don't have time to drive to every store. You could use the internet. Ebay maybe but that's where the scalpers are. Who else could be selling the latest hottest toy so fast? What about an online merchants. They're are'nt scalpers but most are smart to jack up prices and charge you extra for shipping. If you find anything good today without paying more or putting in a lot of effort you're lucky. Some collectors have said you if you really want something you have to pay more or really work for it. Not all adult collectors want to pay more for a silly toy or want to spend their free time running around looking for one. If you go to extreme lengths then you're a lot more than a casual geek. Sure toy makers have really started to make toys the appeal to the ten old in each of us but the real ten year olds are missing out. Toy collecting shouldn't be someone's obession or way to fund their retirement.
  21. Okay started to some of the new batch. Yeah all of them. Want a better look of how they looked on the boards and how they compared next to each other. Start your comparing as well.
  22. Weren't the RRG also the ones that named the Orguss hyrid VF that appeared in a sight gag in Macross. Didn't they name it "Jotun" or something? From what I remember about that group is they pass themselves off as experts but do appear to list stuff is unoffical. You just have some fans buying things as fact. That has been a common tradition among uninformed fandom. You want to learn about something. Type a few keywords on a search engine and find a well written by full of speculation essay. If its on a well produced site it gives it even more power. For some fans that is all that is needed for stuff to be canon. Some times the authors make it clear what is made up and what comes from source material but it just takes one fan to buy every things as a fact and pass it around. Happen to me and a few here a couple of times. Where we had to say, "Um. That fiction I made up. If you go to the main index or scroll down you would see the disclaimer."
  23. There is also a huge topic on the VF-0 switch has been on the first page of topics here since it started. Addtional information and question can be posted there.
  24. The problem with the improved skull is that the reflection distorts the shape of skull making it look like either a very strong reflection or a tumor.
  25. Yep you need to wait for the weekend for me to do the old switch-a-roo with them.
