Im not surprised.  I dont know about now, but back in the day (very late 90s/early 00s) HLJ cultivated a lot of good will in the modeler/anime hobby communities by engaging customers on newsgroups, forums, by email, etc etc.  I had several conversations with Scott T Hards myself back in the RAAM (rec.arts.anime.modeler) days.  Such things have not been forgotten, and HLJ has a legion of fans as a result that will go to bat for them.  There used to be several MW posters from RAAM days that probably remember this as well, although I havent seen their nicks in years i'd like to think they are still lurking somewhere.

Pass on the 31s, save, and get the best DX Chogokin instead - the VF-19 Advance.

19 Advance off ebay and v2 Elintseeker off the FST forum.

I ended up cancelling my 31J. I just picked up two valks today, both of which i'd rather have over the 31J any day of the week. Spending too much money lately on this stuff, had to put a stop to it somewhere and the 31J didn't make the cut. I can always get one of the others later I guess.

i mean, it is a really crappy toy that no one wants thanks to a decade and a half of yamato and arcadia and bandai releases, but i figured it was worth 5 bucks. And it never got above 3.25!

Just got a DX Chogokin VF-25A in. Second DX Chogokin after that surprise yf-29/yf-30 shipment at HLJ the other week.

I really love these. Way more than the yamato/arcadia toys. Was only about 11k yen or so at Jungle.

What is the shipping generally via EMS on a v2 valk from Jungle? Trying to figure out how much I should be looking at...they have several things I want at good prices.

Edit: Eh, ended up taking the plunge on a vf-25a. only 11000-ish yen. DIdn't want to pass that up.

rant: ebay sellers who put up auctions with a bin, and then a reserve price that is equal to the bin. there's a vf-25 renewal up on the bay right now that I have high-bidded all the way up to a shade under the BIN, and it STILL hasn't hit the reserve price. What a waste of time. If you want to sell something for 220, then just put a BIN on there and call it a day instead of wasting bidder's time (and yours, as it would have no doubt sold faster had all us bidders not sat here and checked day after day, hoping to finally get it up over the reserve). What a jerk. I hope that seller isn't a MWer.

non vf-1 valks probably dont sell as well. i think that if they do stray away from vf-1's, it'll be to the yf-19 and -21

I have a lot of experience with these stands. for something heavy like the Super valks (or ZZ Robot Damashiis, etc etc) you have to get the extension arm in JUST THE RIGHT position to balance all the weight, otherwise it will collapse. Also, those extension tubes stress REALLY easy where they connect to the pegs and crack. When that happens they get loose on the peg and are completely useless. I had a RD Sinanju take a shelf-dive because of that.

Finally put my max up on a stand (not using that ridiculous packed-in stand)

i would just leave it. Any attempt to remove it will likely end up blemishing the area around it.

Despite my continued irritability with these little VF-1's, as cool as they are, I'm still all in on the various Destroids, Battle Armor and other Mecha and the 2SS though I imagine that may be as fiddly as the VF-1's. They look good once you sort that out.

Does anybody have a loose right head cannon? I had to nail polish the thing because it was impossible to fit the legs down for Gerwalk/Fighter without bumping that bloody little thing off.

yes!! Arcadia definitely should re-issue more VF-1 Valks! there are a few I wouldn't mind having more of as trying to find original Yamato versions which are either rare and or super expensive..

we found the tank & the girls on Mandarake actually! they had several sets available at the time!

that is the Panzer IV tank from the Girls und Panzer movie which is a modification of the tank from the series, with a bigger cannon, side armor and a new paint job!

GuP is the best. The movie is hitting theatres here in the US now (though dub only)

The armored version has a grey visor.
