  1. I just started the valk surgery to install these and to my horror, the shapeways shoulders hole for the pin is so tiny. the original pin won't fit! Does someone have some advice on how to get around this? Replacement pins, or somehow drilling out the shoulder pinhole? I have a 1s sitting here in pieces and its making me nervous. I would have never have attempted this had I known the pin wasn't going to fit.

Edit: ok, i just forced the pins through and they cleared out the hole. So that's that. However, it raises another question.

These new hinges don't fold down quite flat like the ones on the toy do. I don't know if that's normal, and the arms dont seem to be drooping down in fighter, but i wonder if it will cause stress on the locking points between the legs and backpack.

  2. I saw both the tank and the girls brand new from a few other places including NY but couldn't justify the extra hundreds on top just for getting brand new.

The Autoart D-Type is a really nice thing and I had one before but I also had the Exoto D-type and that thing was just insane how much detail and build quality went into it! I'd love/prefer to have another Exoto again but I cant justify the ridiculous price they demand these days.. They start on ebay at about $1300 (aud) which is about double what I paid originally for mine! kicking myself for selling it off.. but the money did go towards more Valkyries so I don't feel so bad..

Oh man, i wanted the GuP figma stuff so much I love GuP!

but....im not brave enough to have a bunch of anime girls on my desk. Even if they are in a giant tank.

  3. Things mostly seemed like a decent deal compared to what I see people normally asking for on ebay. I had wanted the 1J supers and the low vis valks but everytime i saw one someone would be asking 400 bucks BIN or more with killer shipping. I started the low vis off at 150 but that was the absolute max i wanted especially after already winning the max and miria supers. I think it sold for 190.

  4. Scream Man used to be a member here and lived in Little Rock, AK. He was a huge collector of 1/48 valks. A member checked in here a while back to inform us that he had passed. I have a feeling that this auction may have been put up by his wife or son, though the last time I remember anything about his son he was a bit young.

Oh. Yeah, that sounds like it might be the case, then. I was excited to get a bit of a deal on a couple of nice 1/48s, but now it's just a bit sad. Well, at least a couple of them are going to a good home.

Edit: I don't think it was the user Scream Man. He last posted on Oct 3rd, and was showing as active just Yesterday on the forum.

  5. Tonight there was an estate auction on ebay that featured a TON of Macross 1/48 and 1/60 Yamatos. I won the 1/48 max and miria, but that's not what this thread is about.

One of the items that was NOT available for bidding online (onsite only) was 4 large tubs full of custom valkyrie parts, broken pieces, spares, etc. Which made me think - if the owner of this estate had all that, then they were very likely to have been a member here at some point. The auction is in Little Rock, Arkansas. Does anyone know of a member from that area that hasn't been heard from in a long time?

Sorry if this is morbid or the wrong forum for the question.

  6. i use a ton of the Tamashii Act5 stands and that trident stand for Robot Damashii. Word of warning - if you position it in such a way that it puts a lot of horizontal stress on the tubes (arm laid way back, etc) they WILL crack from the stress and loosen considerably. My RD Sinanju hit the deck one day last year and nearly gave me a heart attack.

  7. yeah the gunpod thing kinda sucks but it doesn't enrage me or anything. definitely not going to return it because of that, i'm probably never going to transform this thing ever again anyways.

As for landing gear, one issue i have with mine is that the left leg gear did NOT want to flip out. at all. I had to apply major force with a flathead to get it to finally come out and ended up stripping some paint off the landing gear tab, which is annoying but not a dealbreaker. Im not saying the thing sucks, it looks great but I just figured for the price the materials might have been a little bit better and certain things (like the gunpod) would have been sturdier. And I cant help but feel like some parts are just waiting to break. Like the shoulders (with that half-circle mechansim to slide them out from under the body during transformation) and the leg bar coupling in the back of the nosecone. Popping that thing out scares the crap out of me.....

  8. Sorry to hear that. I'm surprised you didn't get a Yamato one. Do you or did you own a chunky monkey? I manhandle my valks so they look fragile but are durable. As for the gunpod, which part is flimsy? The handgrip itself or the rear? Also, is the articulated hand gripping it all the way closed? When set up correctly mine doesn't move at all.

Edit: Sorry, was too slow to type when the above posts popped up.

I actually do own two chunky monkeys!

As far at the 1/60's gunpod goes, yeah. both the handle AND the rear of the gunpod are flimsy as hell.

  9. yeah, i dunno. like I said, i expected it to be more like a toy, and less like a model kit if that makes any sense. It does look great in fighter, i'll give it that.

I had some of the old-school yamato vf-1 releases. I had the 1/48 low vis at one point, but i think i took it out of the box once before i traded it away and dont remember anything about it. This is my first 1/60.

I really like the hi-metal Rs; ill concentrate on those from here on out I guess.

  10. Just out of curiosity, who did you order with? And how was their packaging?

hlj. Standard box in a box surrounded by air pillows.

So as I said before, this is my first arcadia. And I have to say, i'm a little disappointed. It lacks heft, feels fragile. I changed it into battroid and thought i was going to snap everything off. poseability is just OK, the gunpod is flimsy and doesn't sit well in the hands which kind of limits the posing you can do with it. proportions look nice but honestly i care about that the least. i dunno what i expected, really, i just thought maybe.....just a little bit more for the 200+ dollars.

Were the old Yamato v2s better or worse than the current Arcadias? Maybe I should hunt those instead.

  11. My VF-1S seems fine in comparison to other versions. But I consider all Valkyrie transformations pretty fiddly, except maybe the early 1/55 and the toy I had a s a kid that these HMR's remind me of:

    Henkei%20Hik%20small%20371.jpg

Obviously, HMRs are much nicer and a bit more fiddly.

Ha! i had the vf-1s from this line. I forget what they were called, but there was an sdf-1 as well, along with some other mecha from other anime.
