They're not actually ball joints, just slightly wobbly pivots, if I recall.

It's been years, but I remember disassembling the entire forearms to get at those pivots, and never really got very far.  In the end, I think I wound up settling for a few drips of thin CA superglue on the pivots, rotating the tails while I let the glue dry.

This can definitely fog up the plastic somewhat though, typical for CA glue.  I'll see if I can find my original post on what I did, and link it here, but I'm not sure if I took any photos or anything.

yeah. I just tried to disassemble the forearms and that was a huge mistake. i got everything apart, but concluded that i didnt want to go through that pain on BOTH arms to coat the peg (it's just a peg with a screw in it that spins freely in a hole). Took about 2 hours to get it back together because pieces kept falling out and the spring kept flying out.

  2. I bought a cheap loose SV-51a off of ebay this week and just got it in. I knew it would need some work - what do you guys use to tighten the ball joints that the tail stabilizers are attached to on the arms? Future floor wax? Or does something else work better?

  3. yup. my mind is telling me (tricking me?) that there's a white nose cone, grey blotches that could be super packs, red body.

If this really is super vf-1j milia, im throwing money at it so fast.

  4. I posted this in another thread back last summer when I picked it up -

I stumbled across this at a 2nd and Charles in Atlanta back in the summer.  The tab that hooks the back into the underside of the nose in battroid doesn't hold that well but look at how white this thing is! (slight leg discolor but otherwise amazing).  Even came with original decal sheet and the little bio card! It was only 70 bucks too.

When people use words like: crap, terrible --and then belittle Kawamori, it doesn't exactly make people who feel differently feel welcome here.  There are cleaner forms of criticism.

Mazinger's pondering of staying off the forums, and a couple other similar sentiments, is indicative of a problem here.

A news announcment about a new Macross series shouldn't make MWF remind people of RT boards or encourage people to leave or go into lurk mode.

When a post like this is routine, ESPECIALLY in an announcement thread, what's the point in current Macross fans even bothering to come to these forums?

As a whole, MWF should be a good steward to the franchise in general.  If you aren't getting what you like, think of ways to demonstrate that you're a viable market worth spending resources on and get your voices heard.  People who belittle and lash out are a zero economic quantity.

Nobody has gone after anyone else though. At least not that I've seen (edit: ok, i see one angry guy). Saying something was "crap" is simply someone's opinion, and posters shouldn't take it personally.  People can dislike things other people like, people shouldn't be starting fights over it.

Reposted from my post in the SCOOPUDA thread, tis relevant here too:

Well, the thing is that for some of us (i know i'm not alone), Macross has been taking a dive ever since Zero. MacF was bad, and Delta was horrid. I know not everyone shares that opinion obviously, but there's some of us that feel that way.

Personally, I don't really look forward to more Macross honestly.  I don't think Kawamori is all that competent at anything other than designing mecha.  More mecha and sometimes the music is good, but everything else lately I can do without.

And people got on my case (on Facebook...) when I mentioned HLJ weren't at all helpful/kind when they effed up my FedEx shipping stuff as well.

Im not surprised.  I dont know about now, but back in the day (very late 90s/early 00s) HLJ cultivated a lot of good will in the modeler/anime hobby communities by engaging customers on newsgroups, forums, by email, etc etc.  I had several conversations with Scott T Hards myself back in the RAAM (rec.arts.anime.modeler) days.  Such things have not been forgotten, and HLJ has a legion of fans as a result that will go to bat for them.  There used to be several MW posters from RAAM days that probably remember this as well, although I havent seen their nicks in years i'd like to think they are still lurking somewhere.
