1. That thing doesn't have mirage colloid, does it? And hell, mirage colloid is supposed to make it semi invisible not light it up.
2. They wanted to make it sound cool...? 310808 I have a better question, what the hell is the light radiating out of Destiny's wings? do they serve any purpose other than to paint a big shot me sign? Kind of like saying, we need extra energy, but let's waste the power out the wings for no reason.
3. I think Luna is more like Fa than Emma, as far as I can tell, the Emma is far more level headed and pragmatic, at least by the time the second half of Zeta came around (if we're doing the comparison). Probably Talia is the closest equivalent to Emma, but of course that just means Talia is gonna die. Luna is too much of a hanger on type.
4. Ok, there is no way Destiny is even close to the insanity that was the Duck! 310359 I'm just using that as an example, not a comparison to GSD.... after all, I'm sure in the billions of the world's population, at least one person out there must've had the opinion that Howard the duck was an ok movie. Azrael, you have a good point, but I recall, Uzumi's official excuse was he didn't know about the Gundam development. There wasn't a point to the contrary really. So, you'd just have to take his world for it. The reason I found it ridiculous was because Uzumi never really approved his daughter going out and fighting in the first place, he may have believed it was necessary, but he didn't like it. That's why it seem ridiculous that he specifically made an MS for his daughter. But of course, it could be that the entire MS was gold, so it's really money he is giving his daughter. The pacifist part was the wrong choice of wording here.
5. Meh... everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you like remakes, well, there isn't anything wrong with that. Heck, there are people out there who even liked Howard the Duck.
6. Agree about the ending, it was a little too simplified, and of course the son surviving was a big minus. But overall, the story was alright being told from the presepective of an ordinary joe. Nukes should've been used, and for all you know, they could've been used, it was never very explicit anywhere. In all the scenes we saw, nukes made no sense because the army/air force was trying to buy time for the civvies to escape, nuking the aliens would've meant killing the civvies.
7. You know what this means, people who wants to shot her down would want to go up close and knife her. After all, imagine all the money you could make scraping off the gold plating. Although, if the MS has a perfect anti-beam reflection, it'll be just ideal. Then you can have someone remote control the thing and just dance around the sky and become the main target. It'll be a nice mobile suit for her to cry from. By the way, dying for a cause is not so bad... but when you start detracting from the cause, that's when you become a problem. Now people look at Orb, and essentially, it's to be laughed at. It's soverign cries a lot and can't make up her mind on anything. My essential reaction to all this crying is: "look, there is a little spoiled brat who isn't getting what she wants, so she's throwing a hissy fit."
8. Char deserved it... but isn't it blasphemy to the great Gundam gods to put Char and Cagalli in the same post? Heh heh. I think the reason Orb put up a gold paint scheme on her suit is that people are praying that they target her and just take out the annoying bitch.
9. Just because it's dated, doesn't mean it still isn't a force to be taken lightly. Look at Freedom. It is certainly dated and it still cause havoc. It was only after someone decided to come up with a plan/scheme to take it down, that it was taken down. Of course, Cagalli ain't as good of a pilot as Kira....Kira needs to teach Cagalli some Jedi tricks... Her fate would be no different than those soldiers who fight for her. 310171 Ok, two nits. First, Kira made Freedom special, unless her MS is NJC/nuke equipped, it probably isn't anything more than just another Murasame. In regards to her fate no different than soldiers who fight for her. I would argue that in any organization, some people have more intrinsic value than others. i.e. in an army, a general would be slightly more important than your ordinary private. I understand what you mean about same fate... but in her case, the everyday Orb soldier deserves much better fate than her But realistically, she doesn't have any business getting into a suit because she is causing even more problems that way. Remember the Murasame pilot that died because he had to stand in front of her? But of course, the AA is so hard up for pilots, they'd probably take anybody. Calling Sai... where are you Sai....
10. Now you see what I mean about having Cagalli killed earlier on to add emotional impact rather than just having an annoying character that gets way too much screen time. Heck, if they can manage a dramatic and entertaining death for the loon (Stella) then they ought to be able to manage a semi decent death for Cagalli. Hopefully getting a beam saber in the gut treatment that many other GS pilots have gotten. Ah wait a minute, then we'd have to see all the grown men in Orb cry too because the little princess bought the farm.
11. Not a bad movie at all, it followed the 1950s movie in pretty nicely. Nice twist to have the aliens harvesting hummies for food. Kinda neat that way. The alien war machines were actually much more frightening that way than if they were just generic killing machines. They're actually vampire killing machines. Outside of that, the actors in the movie did a good job, although I did wish the son would've been vaporized, or may be even harvested. Annoying little punk.
12. Don't you just get the feeling this episode was horribly rushed and completely mismanaged. I mean we're not talking about EA punking out Orb here, (even that took three episodes), we're talking about a major fight that is supposed to be the end all battle of the war. It lasts one single episode. Super robot show was right. Essentially, the battle went like this: EA unleashes Destroy and their forces and beats the crap out of ZAFT, and ZAFT unleashes Destiny and wins the battle almost single handedly. HUH?!?!?!?! So, essentially, Dullindal would've been better off to just send in Destiny in the first place because the other ZAFT troops did nothing at all except die until Destiny came into the picture. Not to mention too much stock footage. Also, lots of little discrepencies. First, you see the Destroys over the water, blasting away at ships. The next time you see them, they're all on land getting chopped up. Somehow, they decided to retreat after wiping out a part of the fleet from just three MS. In regards to some of the other comments. Let's be serious, both sides already have the perfect first strike weapon. A mirage colloid ship loaded with nuclear weapons. Look at how close Girty Lue got to Armory One. ZAFT put mirage colloid on GENSIS for the love of God. The only thing you can say about EA is that they're made up of a bunch of morons. If you want to wipe out PLANTs that badly. Put up a few suicide ships with mirage colloid, pack it with nukes, park it next to PLANTs and have them go BOOM.
13. I find it absolutely hilarious that the pacifist Uzumi left for his daughter a frigging MS as a part of her inheritance. But realistically, the suit is dated now by about two years isn't it? So, how special could it possibly be... meh... and it's being handed to an incompetent.
14. space... earth... what's the difference, this is GSD we're talking about.
15. As a representative of the CE continuum, I can assure you that WWII never happened. Therefore, we have no idea what you're talking about. Our idea of special forces training is five guys marching loudly toward their targets, joking about what they'll do after they get there. And further more, we think it's much better to throw things at an enemy piece meal, and give them a fair fight rather than just killing them... Which is why we only tried to nuke the PLANT once in the opening. But we did think about putting together a small ship with Mirage colloid plus NJC equipped nuclear bomb, and parking it right next to ZAFT HQ, and then going kaboom. But we thought this would be a bad idea, so instead, we'll do a special raid using our only Mirage Colloid equipped ship to capture some MS to be used by highly dubious and utterly unstable pilots who aren't very good to start with.
16. The steamroller? It got steamrolled... ha ha ha ha. The perfect EA strategy would've been kick ZAFT off of the planet. Heavy forces to hold onto the moon base, then consolidate from there and push into the PLANT. The perfect PLANT strategy is lock down Earth and control space, remove assets from Earth operations to take down the moon and any EA space forces. i.e. blow up all the mass drivers, lock EA to the planet. The perfect Orb strategy was to go meekly along with the strongest power (EA) and shut its mouth and pray whoever it went with can either protect them or offer a bigger target to the opposition. Because in the real world, it would be squashed flat either way. If Orb was that big a threat, the responses would be: EA: what, Orb, you don't want to join us... here is half a dozen nukes. ZAFT: what? Orb, you want to join EA, here is half a dozen nukes.
17. What've been nice if after Minerva got back to the ZAFT Aussie base, they had a couple of real hardcore episodes of them defending against a massive EA assault to keep that base. By hardcore I mean a virtual seige, as MS are leaving the base, they get shot at and that kind of crap. That would've been interesting to watch, along with Shinn and Athrun going from point to point trying to plug up leaks desparately.
18. I've long since given up on the concept of realism in the show. I just go back to the super commandos sent to kill Lacus. And that alone tells me there is nothing even close to realistic about this. Kill Clyne: ok, let's use a sniper from half a mile away, put her down while she's working in the field. Want to bounce pieces of Clyne along with the rubble, ok, let's put 20 cruise missiles into the building at the middle of the night. No, instead, let's do a poorly executed commando raid, and when the commando finally gets to within 10 yards of the target, instead of hosing her down with his submachine gun, he carefully takes aim at her head with a sniper rifle just in time for Kira to push her out of the way. With GS, things went from poor to better, with GSD, they're going the other way.
19. Orb?!?!? Sigh... that entire story line was a waste of time in GSD, and it is even more so now. In GS it made sense, in GSD, just nuke the damn place already. We have the entire EA where we can have a storyline, not to mention space. But no, let's talk about Orb some more. Orb orb orb... gawd. It's no wonder I want Cagalli dead, if nothing else, just to shut them up about Orb. I wonder why they bother doing a story with GSD at all, they'd just be better off introducing new MS every other episode (they almost do that as is now) and have random fights. Character development be damned. Oh wait, that's already been tried, it was called G-gundam.
20. Hell, if that's the case, they should just bring in Sayla from MSG. That'll be so unexpected and such a nod that it's impossible to miss, the conversation would go like this. Sayla: Hello, Athrun, I've been sent to help you. Athrun: Wha... who are you? Sayla: I'm from an alternate reality where there are also gundams, but poorly drawn. I'm here to help you escape from ZAFT and save you from this stupid story line, you're really supposed to be a lot like my brother Char. Athrun: Huh? What are you talking about? Sayla: Well, due to poor writing, your character has been totally ruined, we want to make you the head of PLANT and ZAFT, but that's becoming less likely every passing moment, I'm here to help you with that. Athrun: Uh......... Hmmm, Kisaka stripping in front of Athrun eh? So, I see someone is finally coming out of the closet.
21. So... my exact thoughts to the spoilers Azrael put up is: Huh? What the bloody heck? I put that up because of the fact that most of these new developements have not had any real basis at all. It's like the Athrun/Meryn thing... all of a sudden, having Luna or even Meer makes much more sense. I mean we have a female character whose exact contributions have been saying yes to Shinn, her interactions with Athrun has been negligible. So, it's like all of a sudden: "let me help you and put my life on the line and all that even though I spoke to you all of what... three times?" The writers really need to stop smoking whatever it is they are smoking or better yet, share it with the rest of us so we can buy some of this. It's a case of let's pull something else out of our ass, throw it at the wall and see if it sticks. Well, hopefully, it'll be entertaining at least with lots of things going kaboom. May be Sting managed to bail out... and they'll edit that in with GSD the specials.
22. As long as it's a good story, mech design doesn't matter too much. No one can argue that GSD has good mech designs, or rather, I should say good animation for tried and true designs from the old days, but it doesn't work that well because of the poor story line. Will have to see if I can get that one.
23. Actually, they would have brought in Sayla in Zeta. Unfortunately, Ms. Inoue was busy during the production of Zeta so they couldn't call her in. So they pushed her to ZZ. Bring back Sai....nah. Anyways, his seiyuu (Tetsu Shiratori) is working on a movie so they were lucky to even get him to narrate a recap episode. You're right about that, but I think it was for just one episode on Sayla... think it was during Char's speech. Not over and over again. That was kind of pointless, but at least it was a one time deal. I never liked ZZ much anyway... so I didn't care that they brought her in then... I think though that she and possibly Camille would've been good additions in CCA, but oh well.... As for Sai, I don't think he is needed anyway. They've already overloaded GSD with characters from GS, and they're taking center stage. It would've been better given the way that GSD is going to have put Kira/Athrun on the center stage in the first place. I haven't seen Turn A, is it as good as everyone says?
24. Well, I can't say much for the animation on Zeta, but I always thought it had a good story. It wasn't really flooded with the characters from MSG, I mean they are in there, and are put to good use, but the focus was more on the new characters. It is annoying though, they dragged GSD on forever I think, they could've cut out a good part of that Orb pointlessness and made a good storyline. I don't mind if they keep doing Gundams, I don't even mind if they stay in CE. But the story need to be interesting and compelling. I remember originally fukuda said that GSD would be a commentary on the iraq war... what a stupid idea, do a compelling story, don't do a political message
25. I agree on Neo vs Shinn... but the story line (theirs) right now is too forced. They are somehow just missing the story quality, you'll notice in Zeta, you don't see Yazan or Jerid all that much, but they're both more or less impact players, and the story mesh well. They don't drag in people like Sayla, or Mirai or whatever for no reason or to show a cameo. When they brought in Sai, he had a role, well integrated, and then when he was gone, there was at least a good reason. Same with Hayato, hardly favorite characters. Can you even see these guys trying to bring back Sai and Kuzy? Right now, you get a five second with Yzak/Deakka, and you're kind of wondering what was the point of that? Ah well, there is always a hope they can salvage the season.
