Fanchildren, Cease Thy Whining
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
He will probably just keep releasing new versions forever. It's always good to have one that shows what it was like back then for nostalgia and to know what it was like to see the movie during a time when they were working with limits back then for fan and history purposes. If a newer generation wants to know what the original looked like, they can now see it as it was originally. -
Does U.n Spacy Mind Pilots Having Long, Dyed Hair?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Phalanx's topic in Movies and TV Series
Come to think of it, it was never explained how ivanov was alive when everyone thought he was dead. roy was supposed to be his student. Maybe the anti un and un spacy were engaged in some secret experimentation to clone the best soldiers? 1. vf1 one of the major secrets (public ws kept in the dark about transforming robots as well as being lied to about the existence of aliens) 2. floating rocks (why was the government looking for AFOS unless they knew something was living; or once lived, on earth that was not from earth? The ASS1 gave us knowledge about where to look but how come an old man knows so much about the islanders? We must have known about aliens before ASS1 crashing but just didn't know where to look without the special cross dimensional radar technology) 3. grand cannon (nobody knew about this including misa, yet another secret. So that's where all the money goes to..) 4. ??? max is an alien. Another secret that not even he knows. Max is the "co-ordinator" for the macross universe. Like kira yamato humans wanted to eventually create super humans to eventually lead the world using thier talents to further mankind's ambitions of a utopion society. (all kinds of underground cloning and genetic engineering experiments were done to evolve humans artificially) Max did train, but so too did kakizaki. Maybe the glasses are just a disguise to hide his face. Doesn't make sense that he would need them with his abilities. (beating milia with ease) -
Hopefully they will tighten this up a little in future. I have a loose swivel joint on my bandai 1/65 vf17s so I know how it can be annoying. Can barely pose it in gerwalk mode in spread leg stance without it collapsing. Is the elbow a ratcheted joint like the vf1?

I'm way too chicken to weather my valks. That looks cool. Maybe you should put some holes in it like that battle damaged CF custom that was done a while ago? I think what yamato could have done was put some of those dirty ink things they put on the low vis, onto the camo valk and then panel line it? I like weathered customs.

The stealth looks good in those pics. I get the impression underneath the helmet is darth vader. ^ Note how they purposely have him doing the "force choke" in this pic.

I guess for people who can't wait for it and who want it now. Sort of like the yamato first release toys. I hope the whole mess of "HD vs Bluray as the standard" mess is sorted out quick. Fark owning two players or hybrid players or having a choice between two different formats to choose from. Format wars suck. -
Does U.n Spacy Mind Pilots Having Long, Dyed Hair?

Even if they were born with it doesn't destroy my theory that un spacy were using alien dna to make the ultimate soldier Metal Gear Solid/Kira Yamato style. Max is an alien. His children have mixed alien dna so its ok for mylene to have the pinkish hair. (like how some mixed race couples can have a baby with hair that doesn't even match the color of the parents because the gene to get the rare color was from a generation above.) End of story. If they just had a flashback of max when he was a baby it would explain everything. You guys can accept floating rocks, giant robots, people with super powers etc but not my idea? sheesh Him being an alien also explains his attraction to milia. (the pc planned it all, hoping humans would unlock the mystery to it all and make super humans - a soldier 1 level above the zentradi) /Joke. (of course this is stupid topic, but we are bored until a new macross ova or something comes out ) -
Did the VF0 sell well in japan? I'm curious to know how well it was recieved critically and commercially?

Fanchildren, Cease Thy Whining
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
See the thing is this: I don't mind when there are different versions of stuff so long as they tell and warn you in advance. My only whine is when they mislead and say "we won't ever do [fill in the blank] thing, so you better buy this now or else you miss out" but then they turn thier back and do what they say they wouldn't do. So any people who bash the whiners really have to look at themselves and think "what exactly am I defending?". A good example of "warning in advance and keeping the buyer informed" is the release of the lord of the rings extended versions and theatrical versions. Nobody got pissed because they knew there would be two versions so there was nothing valid to whine about. If you wanted the extended you bought that, if you want theatrical, you bought that. If you wanted both you just bought it all. But in this case, the whining is justified because it feels like they want to string you along kind of thing and milk as much as they can by lying deliberately. This way the fans will lap up each release and make multiple purchases. (basically buying something multiple times) -
Has anybody seen this version of lodoss war
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to stram8777's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah the OVA was good. The animation was ok, and it has an adventury feel to it (not like a huuuuuge epic war involving thousands of people) but I felt the ending contradicted the beginning of the series. In the OVA MASSIVE SPOILER: the sceptre of domination was destroyed and the two mercenary characters were part of the fighting. In the series the mercenaries don't even know who Parn is. Almost as if they got amnesia. Really a big mess. END SPOILER BTW Deedlit just seems hotter in the OVA imo. -
Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX

I loved those doggy mechas! More tank mechas (half body with treads with big guns) and more panther and dog mechas would be cool if they were to do one. I want to see a fight between the mass produced transforming panthas vs transforming murasame in a ground vs air battle. The dogs would run faster than the bipeds (humanoid mecha) while the bipeds would be more versatile with weapons since they can hold various thing with thier hands. The treads will be like the long range mechs which have the heaviest weapons and can shoot the furtherest but be sitting ducks since they can't dodge. And it would all take place on the ground in variable terrain. (no space battles unless it happens in the start as a background thing.) I hope if they ever do a movie for destiny though, that they make the last battle more dramatic. (ie hero gets injured, his mecha is half busted up, he only wins by a thin margin etc without a clear decisive win until the last moment just like amuro char battle, as opposed to the hero looking like he is not even putting any effort into the fight)- 3815 replies

Good review. Looks good panel lined.

Ok then, post prices of super stealth to convince me to get one. I have been thinking about it! It is a non-essential purchase to me since I have enough vf1 for now, but if I can get a bargain (with decent shipping to aus) then I will probably cave in as I am liking the scheme more and more. (actually I prefer it over the all black credit card vf1 now) I think the skull should have been printed on the heat shield like the low vis though.

Official Transformers Super Thread 3
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to zeo-mare's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That's why I like machine transformers unless the animals play a specialist role. (ie something like scout in a jungle protecting a hidden base? A think a robot gorilla would fit here). The insecticons are a good example: I like that they were mainly a wrecking crew but weak overall. The whole theme of bugs/termites/locusts/pest destroying and eating valuable infrastructure/robot food source sounds threatening. Animals < machines still imo. -
Fanchildren, Cease Thy Whining
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
nah, there are two groups of whiners 1.those whining about him not doing this in the first place 2.those whining that they bought the other versions thinking these wouldn't be made, so they feel they were misled. BTW: don't you get the SE with it? (that's why 2 discs) So there is no excuse to not buy this one because you are getting SE as well? -
cool. Just saw up to 37. Awaiting more eps.. The black nirvash mech gets to beat up some of those colorful aliens. I wonder why eureka doesn't go on the aliens side on this?
-
Yeah but they said they will be scaled down from the early prototype. Wonder when they will have a pic of the scaled down one.

http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...=18298&hl=hands ^ thread you might be interested in. They will be designed to be aesthetically pleasing but not perfect transformable. (the arms are so skinny I doubt you could really fit beefy hands in them. Yamato loves skinny armed valks)
-
Yeah but they'll be expensive. Can't remember which guy was doing these ones and if they are still going to follow through with it.

My main problem isn't so much holding the gunpod so much as weak wrists. I plan on getting those posable DYRL hands IF they can get them 5 finger articulation. I think the solution if you are not happy with the limp-wristed chicken hands is to pull the hand off the wrist hinge (don't worry it won't break), and stuff little bits of thin paper into the holes in the sides of the hand to make the wrist a little bit more stiff. The right hand has a wrist slightly more stiff than a left hand but if you want a stiffer left wrist, this is a stopgap solution that can tighten it slightly. The gun pod is just too much weight on such a small hinge so you can't really expect much and learn to accept a bit of wiggle on the hand. Sometimes I like to have my cannon fodder holding two gunpods at once in gerwalk mode like the YF-21. What they need is some kind of ratcheted wrist joint which is made out of that rubbery gummy material to add friction. The wobbly wrist can be annoying.

Does U.n Spacy Mind Pilots Having Long, Dyed Hair?

Basara and Max both wear glasses and naturally very good pilots. Think of it. They must have been cloning some people they thought might be useful like Kira Yamato in gundam seed, but kept it all a secret. Do we ever get to a max jenius flashback or basara flashback explaining thier past? Aliens. -
"hip Guns" On The Sv-51 & Yf-19
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Kurisama's topic in Movies and TV Series
Maybe in the future they could have some form of advanced wireless energy transfer or maybe they could have some futuristic batteries and these recharge when connected to the bot? Only supernatual creatures like basara, mao and sara, and gubaba would be able to use this i suppose. -
As you can see Graham has admitted the VF0 has skinny arms just like VF11. Kawamori is making the mecha weaker as he ages. Future robots will be skinnier and skinnier until they become like an eva. I'm only half joking. I miss the blocky 80s robots. I hope the joints can withstand the fatsuit.

Does U.n Spacy Mind Pilots Having Long, Dyed Hair?
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Phalanx's topic in Movies and TV Series
Actually I had that problem with yamato. All the characters looked the same to me because they all had similar looking faces and stuff. But in some anime there really are reasons for the hair style: take bleach for example: there is one guy with spiky hair and each spike acts like an antennae to sense someone's presence. I thought it was funny but it was a cool idea. Or in rpgs, the elves can hear better because they have sharper senses possibly due to thier catlike/doglike ears. There are elves in macross 7 so I'm thinking they might have reasons for looking like they do because of the culture or race or fashion. Roy's long hair might have to do with his hobbies or lifestyle. Short hair might have been a sign you were boring person. So he wanted to look more hippie-ish like kaifun and grow it long to be cool with what people were into during the time. Maybe roy is a fan of a certain band or something and wants to look like a certain musician? (there is a scene of him playing a guitar in the series so he could be into music or influenced by music as a hobby) The stuff about wearing a wig is a joke of course.. but still to keep with the original tv series I wish roy looked more like the one in SDF:Macross. I have no problems with purple hair, blue hair green hair etc since it is just a staple of anime.
