  1. I was just reading off of Macross Compendium Wiki. Maybe, somebody could just update the name change there and make it official.
  2. DVD Decrypter .iso didn't work, but the tutorial did the job! Xeros, Would you be able to provide the rest of the DVD subs as winrar packages for the the M7 and DYRL projects? I had the same problem of checksum errors with the Icarus DVD subtitle patcher for the DYRL DVD disc. Optimusx made a subtitle patch for his version of DYRL, but eventually he had to share the whole patched DYRL DVD. We could not get the .iso DVD file sizes on each of our computers to be the same even though I have a retail copy of the R2 LE HD DYRL DVD. The .iso has to be made in the same way in order for the file sizes to come out the same. But, I don't know what steps or software works. So, for now I'll just do it with your tutorial or watch out for a patched DVD. Thank you!
  3. I tried using ImgBurn to make a .iso directly from the M Frtr dvd 1 and that didn't work either to reproduce the same DVD file size. 5,299,081,216 bytes For the Muxman/subtitle phase, it was easier just to move the macross dvd tutorial files over to the C: hard drive and retype "00 SUBS" to "SUBS" rather than retyping each .sst file with the new file directory. "Birla" is supposed to be "Bilrer", the entrepreneur zentradi. I'm slowly getting through the dvdsubedit phase. If could get the same DVD .iso image size as you, then that would be much quicker. Could you pm the guy who did the original Frontier DVD 1 .iso to ask how he makes his .iso files? (**You mean, use dvd decrypter to make the .iso file? I'll try that.**) Thanks again! ******************* I was able to get the Macross Tutorial version working for a subtitled DVD! Hurray! I'm at 88% for converting the retail DVD into an .iso with dvd decrypter, so I'll see if I can get that to work as well.
  4. Hi Xeros: I ripped my Macross Frontier 1 retail dvd with ripit4me and dvd decrypter. file size: 5,298,386,944 bytes So, right away, I see that the ripit4me software deletes a few more files than expected. Then, I tried using the very nice tutorial you put together and I became stuck on the muxman step. When adding in the subtitles for yak deculture .m2v: 1. wide screen sst, wide screen button, english, extension: normal 2. go to button 2 3. letterbox sst, letterbox button, english, extension: normal 4. I add in chapters.txt from the demuxed folder BUT, I have "Sub2: free" and "Sub1:free" and NOT "Sub 2: List of 371 subpics" as depicted in your .pdf picture file. Otherwise, the pdf picture looks the same as what I have. It looks like none of the subpics are being recognized by muxman. Which step am I missing? I'll try a dvd rip again of MFrtr DVD 1, but just with dvd decrypter and see what file size I get. Thank you! ********* DVD decrypter is NOT the software used to rip the M Frtr DVD 1. Some other DVD ripper software was used to create the .iso file. M Frtr DVD 1 file size without any extra settings or software: 5,298,427,904 bytes I'll try dvdfab decrypter next and see what the DVD file size is. ********* DVD Fab HD decrypter is recommended by asiandvdclub.org. But, I still get a DVD file sized smaller than what Xeros is using for his subtitle patch. 5,298,405,376 bytes I'm stumped. ********* One last try before going to bed: I opened the deculture .sst subtitle file with notepad to see what I could see. The subtitles folder has to be on the C: hard drive and the subtitles folder "00 SUBS" changed to "SUBS" C:\Macross DVD\SUBS\deculture\Letter\ I'll test it out tomorrow. ImgBurn software turns the DVD Fab DVD rip into a 6,808,600,576 bytes sized .iso file. The iso file is bigger than the original dvd rip. I don't get that.

  15. DHE Macross zero episode 1 dvd update: I downloaded the 1920x1080 .mkv m zero files from macross share. Then ConvertxtoDVD to get a .vob file that looks like it's 864x480 at 16:9 resolution. Next, used Autogk software to turn the dvd. vob file to an 1920x1088 avi. I might be better off to use the dvd. vob file. I have to check some screenshots to see if the background detail gets a little blurry after the .avi conversion. I'll be able to use the 5.1 ac3 sound file directly from the .mkv file in the video editor. episdoe 1,2 are ready to be edited. I'll convert the rest to avi for the music video. The only video editor I found that can use h.264 video files directly is sony vegas and that video editor does not like vista 64 bit lately. So, I have to do this round about video conversion to get files that will work in the video editing software that I can use. DHE DYRL .avi update: I was thinking about Hikuro's psx dyrl prologue and Cristina Vee's alternate dyrl song mix for a special edition dhe dyrl .avi. I have the remastered psy dyrl video and just for a change use perfect edition dyrl video. The audio needs a little balancing with the background music. Then I could touch up the ending credits, so that the japanese giri (?) would be in english. This would be .avi only, since Hikuro is working on his DVD release. Also, Hikuro's dyrl music video is a keeper and I would like to put that on the Macross music video dvd! COTB update: Looks like one more day and I'll finally have the dvd seeded. I watched the movie on my big screen tv and the dvd menu and aspect ratio work the way I was hoping for. For some reason, the audio still sounds off in some scenes. I know for sure that I edited those specific spots many times over. So, I'll fix the cotb audio up again before I upload an .avi onto imacross4. When S-47 Berkut is able to get the japanese subtitles out of DYRL, then I could redo COTB. It's a good thing I really like DYRL. ********************** I finished subtitling most of the remastered M7 supplementary videos and I'm uploading them to iMacross4. Next, I could swap out the english for Japanese kanji (?) and keep the timing for the .srt filles for the M7 music videos and put together a M7 music dvd. So, I'd like to fix up the COTB .avi first (1-2 weeks approx.). Then DHE SDFM DYRL Special Edition .avi (1-2 weeks approx). Then DHE M0 Special Edition DVD (2-3 weeks approx). I set myself some kind of schedule, but we'll just have to see how it goes. ************************** Jan 7/09 COTB 2.2 .avi Update: 1. 100% fixing up audio. 1st 30 minutes had 20+ realigning for audio, 2nd 30 minutes had 10 parts to fix. Looks like I'll be finished and ready for upload by this weekend. 2. I can hear in the background a lot of soft audio "click" noises. That's from all of the previous audio edits with womble video editor. So, I'll use Soundsoap for taking out the audio edit "click" noises. 3. Silver moon, red moon subtitles retimed 4. fixed 1 frame drop in the angel's paints end credits (There was one frame missing for no reason. I'll have to check if there is a missing frame in the angel's paints music video as well.) COTB 2.3 fixes for future reference: 1. new audio from 2.2 .avi 2. S-47 Berkut's DYRL without the japanese subtitles 3. fix Chapter menu selection. I just did a so-so job with the chapter menu by just using the automatic function rather than specifically selecting scenes and labelling them. After the COTB 2.2 .avi, then I'll play around with the DHE DYRL special edition .avi
  16. I wonder if it would be easier to fix the perfect edition dyrl's interlacing issues then the remastered dyrl's film grain?
  17. I watched the dyrl theatrical DVD in my limited edition boxset and it had the bodolzaa video glitch. The colours of the theatrical dyrl did not look faded, but the contrast/brightness was definitely darker than the remastered dyrl movie. At times, I could hear faint pops/crackes in the remastered audio, but not in the theatrical audio. There are no deinterlacing issues on the remastered dyrl that I can see as Hurin was pointing out as a problem with the perfect edition dyrl DVD. It might be possible to clean up the remastered dyrl grainy-ness of the picture with Tmpeg video encoding software, but the picture details could get blurred. After seeing multiple versions of DYRL, I think DYRL has room for improvement for a blue ray release.
  18. When S-47 Berkut is able to remove the japanese subtitles out of DYRL nicely, then the DRYL fan edits won't need blurring or cropping. I'll have to ask S-47 Berkut what resolution he is using for his DYRL fan edit. In order to get the closest aspect ratio, I ended up using 864X480 to try to match to the original remastered DYRL video. Once S-47 Berkut has done his magic, then a even better edition of the remastered DYRL can be put together plus fixed up versions of DYRL fan edits. I did a little sound filtering soundsoap2 for the remastered DYRL stereo audio for pop/crackle removal. I couldn't hear any pops on the filetered audio, so I'll just save that .wav sound file for now.

You're welcome.
  20. I'm going to try to see if there is a difference in video quality for the M zero BD .mkv files compared to the Macross Zero SD DVD video when I use the higher resolution m zero .mkv files in the video editor. I need to experiment a bit to see if I can output high resolution video onto a SD DVD. I don't think DVDLabpro does high def for dvd creation. So, at best I might be able to do a high def .mkv or .avi. This high definition video editing is new to me, so we'll see how it goes. For now, I'll use Hikuro's first version of the DHE M zero ep1 audio. I can always swap out and retime the audio if needed. Hikuro, I was watching your DYRL footage and it looks like you have a 4:3 full screen aspect ratio instead of a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. 4:3 looks like a square like box made for regular tv s 16:9 looks more like a rectangle with black borders on top and bottom. Maybe there's setting in your video editor for aspect ratio? I used tmpeg encoder to set my aspect ratio as 1:1 VGA, then full screen (no margins, keep aspect ratio). *** I moved the Misa vs. Minmay audio drama DVD back into potential Macross fan edits, since I haven't heard from lynn2009 for months and Gubaba is focused on Macross Chronicle issue 1-50 for the next 5-6 months.
  21. Clash of the Bionoids 2.1 DL DVD now available on miniNova.org! That's as good as I can make it for COTB. ******** The COTB 2.1 .avi will be uploaded in the next 3-4 days. I'll be working on the DHE Macross Zero Episode one DVD. Music video, trailer and upgrading the video for the episode with blue ray video. I'll update the details on the first page of this thead. That'll keep me busy up until Christmas! And then a whole new year and another Macross video project.
  22. Looks like we'll get to see VF-4 s in action! Alright!
  23. All 8 weblinks for all 8 parts are on 1st page of this thread. Use HJSplit software to integrate 8 parts back into 1 .avi.
  24. Thank you and congratulations to you and your team! I'll download this asap.
  25. On Videolan media player (Vista 64), COTB 2.0 DVD looks and sounds just fine the way I expected. And then I went to Futureshop to pick up some more dual layer dvds to test out with my sony and yamaha dvd player. Then I found that this DVD is best watched on a computer and not so well on a regular dvd player. Fixes needed: 1. all the audio tracks have to be .ac3 on the dvd, othewise the .wave files of the extra videos play silent on the dvd player. I need to swap out the .wav/pcm audio of trailer, music video and both original end credits. Womble video editor creates the mpeg audio files, then Tmpeg encoder software to demultiplex out the .ac3 out of the mpeg file and finally plug in the new .ac3 files into the dvd. 2. COTB fan trailer had 1 frame glitch that wasn't obvious when I was watching with Videolan player. 3. DVDLabPro dvd subtitle fix: a. uncheck 16:9 letterbox b. move bottom margin up 40 pixels 4. Gubaba asked me to change his end credit to english script editor and I flubbed that because I forgot about swapping out the new edited end credits would take 3 steps because of the 2 layers of english credits and song subtitles. 5. COTB 2.0 was encoded as 1:1 VGA with no margin/keep aspect ratio. COTB now looks letterboxed on my tv and on my computer, so I think the aspect ratio problem is fixed. Videolan player works too well as a dvd player. So, I'll check if testing with Nero Showtime or Windows media player would be more like playing on dvd players. 6. The "over scan" error happens when I watched the original COTB ending credits. It's an easy fix that I thought I fixed a while ago, but didn't. A little bit of the left and right of the credits are chopped off. So, I just move the credits inside of the video frame and now it's fixed. 7. Then I noticed a big difference in video quality when watching COTB 2.0 DVD on my LG LCD monitor and on my Samsung 50" DLP TV. I'm just griping about my TV. Movies don't look quite as good as on my computer LCD monitor. The DLP TV smudges and blurs colours and details. I'm not sure if it's broken or just not set up properly. It looks like it's a combination of the remastered DYRL film grain and Samsung's digital noise reduction filter that makes the video look so-so on my DLP TV. I'm picking up 10 night shifts in a row, so by the time COTB 2.0 is seeded, I'll have COTB 3.0 fixed up. For now, I could just play COTB 2.0 with my computer hooked up to my TV. I hope I learn from my mistakes or somebody else does.
