  1. looks like a new tv series. japanese and american joint venture. guess we'll have to see where it starts off. http://eg.nttpub.co.jp/news/20050331_06.html
  2. yeah...i was really confused when i saw the the us rendition version too. i just wish i had the convention tapes again. and also an all-in-wonder card to rip it in it's glorious bootleg quality.
  3. Hikuro: murakami was killed by guyot who was in turn, "killed" by archanfel. rumour has it that guyot comes back in the ongoing manga serial. but anyways, guyot is killed when archenfel pulls out his zoa-crystal. archanfel then puts it in murakami which turns him into imakuram miribilis. guyver 0 got remover-ed and was disposed of. and yes, the animation quality was very inconsistant in act 2. the version of act 2 that i got had very consistant animation. i can tell you almost exactly what was different. - intro was the original with boxes with scenes from act 1 - initial guyver kidnapping scene had different zoanoid and guyver fodder death animations in the original - murakami sports a white suit instead of whatever color it was(or vice versa) - the fight by the waterway at the end of the episode starts getting funky after ramotith gets his head blown off in the new act 2 - the funky animation isn't there at all when guyver fights the zoanoids - megasmasher sequence is different enough but follows the same principle as the new act 2 - no data file at the end of the episode some other differences were: - balcus has different colored clothes and a green, not red zoa-crystal - the lost numbers are wearing the men in black uniform and not the regular guyver fodder suits. - enzyme 2 was a different color - murakami was different colors - solum has different colors - the guy that melts has a different death sequence(hell, everything about him was different except for the actual melting animation. - now that i think about it, episode 8 was horribly butchered. at least ep 7 had enough of the original animation. but i guess my point is that the best animation in the newer releases was from the original print and was typical of the entire original act 2.
  4. i didn't think act 2 was all that bad. horrible voice acting aside of course. the original act 2 had MUCH different animation and different color palettes. in the later reincarnations of act 2, like manga or even us renditions, there's a huge amount of inconsistantcy in the animation. from what i've seen, there's only like 15% of the original animation left. it's unfortunate because most people who haven't seen the real act 2 say it just plain sucks. i just wish i still had the tape so you guys could've seen how good it actually was. i was pretty lucky to find it at a comic con like 11 years ago. but i'm sure there are some copies of the original animation sitting around out there.
  5. i have a mediocre unsubbed copy of episode 2. it's a 121 mb file and i could upload it somewhere. and uhhh...*ahem* cross fight! dan-gai-ooo!!!!!
  6. wasn't there an avp game for the atari jaguar?
  7. he was also in Spawn and Universal Soldier(the third one). but i'm pretty sure he didn't do too much in Spawn. his imdb profile also says he's also in the first Universal Soldier. i'll have to look for him the next time it's on tv.
  8. you might want to check if you have the latest drivers and directx 9. not sure if that'll help, but it's the only thing i can think of.
  9. oooh...that was a decent book too. forgot about that one. *sigh* if only my collection wasn't tossed many moons ago.
  10. Oh please, if they made that comic into a movie it would suck so bad. Noguchi gets let into the predator pack? Come on... that's oozing cheese. i'd actually hate to see that particular book ruined by an onscreen rendition and never suggested that.
  11. don't get me wrong, the latest trailer is far better than the previous 2, but the only aliens vs predator for me is the original dark horse miniseries drawn by Chris Warner and written by Randy Stradley. nothing comes close to that book except the AvP pc game that kicked ass!!! well, only because we finally get to use the pulse rifle...woohoo!!!
  12. i think that he's referring to Batman:The Cult in which another "batmobile" was used that looked more like the monster truck Bigfoot. written by jim starlin, art by berni wrightson, and colored by bill wray. it's easily on par with dark knight returns, it's just on a different scale. another good batman read is arkham asylum by grant morrison and dave mckean.
  13. if i recall correctly, frank miller stated in an interview that his screenplays for robo 2 & 3 were bastardized. i'm pretty sure it was in an interview for his "NEW" robocop comic series that is supposed to be a more true representation of what his screenplay for robocop 2 was. but in my mind, the original robocop will be the only robocop. cain and that guy from robo 3 can never hold anything up against clarence bodicker!!
  14. the link i gave earlier is a clean downloadable version. but here it is again. metal gear trailer
  15. ask, and ye shall recieve link it's right on the top section and there's a link in the media dl section too.
  16. i'm not too sure how big a fan of alex ross everyone is, but you should take a look in his Mythology book and see what he says about the big 2(marvel and dc) and their inflated prices. is Spawn still one the cheapest books out? it's been awhile since i've actually bought a monthly book. i prefer to go with trades nowadays.
  17. JsARCLIGHT: yeah man, from maintenance people to yuppie lawyers and everyone inbetween. and this is in the building that the Democratic National Convention Commitee is in! go figure
  18. Golden Arms: thanks for catching my point and thanks for the link. it's even worse because he used to coach the Patriots(i'm from boston). i was like JsARCLIGHT: i agree with you. i wish this was a perfect world where everyone was cool like that and could use diversity as a learning and sharing experience instead of using it to discriminate and segregate. but unfortunately, there are a lot of people that still use the word oriental. and i'm not talking the elderly, i'm talking relatively young professional adults throwing that word around. and they ain't talking about food or furniture. ewilen: you're oppressing me with my right to be offended by the word oriental. you're oppressing me from taking charge of a word that applies to ME, not YOU. and by the way, for the third time, i used those offensive terms as examples. also, i was not TOLD to be offended when someone threw that word my way from a professor. i shouldn't have to list my qualifications to justify that i'm offended by it. it's enough that i am offended by it. and if i'm offended by it, there's a chance that other people might be too. why can't you understand that?
  19. ewilen: first of all, i'm not going to have a war with semantics with you so i'm going to make this simple: dude, you basically have no idea what you're talking about. i didn't twist anything you said. i didn't even "proceed to ascribe all sorts of racial epithets" to you. and not once did i say that you "advocated nor defended their use." eventhough you are defending the use of "Oriental." a blind person can see that i'm at least a little offended by it. if you read any of what i wrote, you have no points. at least make one valid point. i'm just asking for one point that i can't argue against. you can't cover up your ignorance with big words and fancy terms. and now you want me to justify how and why i'm offend by Oriental? fine by me. i'm offended through what i've learned from being involved in asian and asian american social causes and projects, learning asian american history, speaking to people that lived through extreme racism and prejudice, and experiencing those myself. it's from hearing "i love oriental (blank)" over and over again the first time you meet someone non-asian. it's about being objectified and exoticized. it's about being asked if you know martial arts or if you're related to someone with the same last name. it's about all those countless little racist or ignorant occurances that you'll fortunately never have to experience unlike how a person of color would thousands of times over in their life. any questions?
  20. Sundown: here's a big THANK YOU! i forgot if the actual term for it but i'm glad someone knows what i'm talking about.
  21. Ali Sama: i think that you might be taking the definition a little too literally. your given definition clearly describes the East as a specific region as opposed to the east as a general direction. ewilen: straw men? are you saying that i: a)distorted what you said b)you distorted what i said c)distorted what everyone said d)everyone distorts what i said i think you should take some african american history and asian american history classes. they might fill some holes in your assumptions on minorities. actually, i think everyone should take some diversity classes in general. i know a lot of people scoff at it, but it would really help clear up misconceptions, stereotypes, and generally leads to better understanding of others and communication.
  22. Jolly Rogers: i'm going to go into a little more depth this time regarding that statement. it's not about me going to build a railroad to reclaim my roots. its about taking words that have been offensive in the past and reclaiming them as my own. it's about shared experiences, culture, and history. it's about your connection to other people that have share those experiences. when you hear a black person say, "whaddup my niggaz!" on the surface it's just a greeting between familiars, but if you go deeper than that, it's a kinship of sorts that speaks to a very intimate part of yourself that you share with your peeps. i know this might sound like b.s. to a lot of people, but it really isn't. there are always exceptions of course and if one of my close friends called me a chinaman(an old derogatory term for a chinese person) or something, i wouldn't take much offense. but if some white or black dude off the street sent a "ching chong chinaman" routine my way, i'd be the first to get in his face and bring it to him chinatown gangsta style.
