  1. argh, you could have saved ALOT of money by getting a regular gamecube from your own region and then purchasing a codejunkies freeloader...

but i digress, get double dash, easily the most fun i've had in a while

i haev alocla game cube and I got th eswith put in. the boto disk is nto as reliable.

  2. I was wondering if anyone here with either the R2 DVD or the bootleg from valkyrie-exchange can tell me what the video quality is like for these discs. Are either of them DVD-9 (dual layer) discs? Is this bootleg just a copy of the R2 perfect disc + subs - region or are there differences?

I have the Anime Cartoon version and it's a DVD-5 (single layer) and the compression is pretty bad.

    Thanks

    I have the fx. it;s pretty good. ti;s a dvd 9.

    Ali

  3. Actually if i remembered correctly, the launch arm is supposed to grab the TOP of the valkyrie, not the bottom.

Not technically feasible with these valks. Holding it by the fast packs is a bad thing.

In any case, I like my acrylic stands.

well. the show was in 0 g. so it worked there. lol.

  4. I just got my first Yamato 1/48 Valkyrie yesterday. In fact it is my first Valk ever!!!!! I got the VF-1S with Fast/Strike pack.

I have been a fan of Robotech ever since it was on TV in 1985.

Oh the Strike Pack sold separatly isn't the one used in the Robotech TV series.

If you want real TV pack (with better grey tones, and occurate arms rocket launchers) you should buy the 1/48 1J series /w fast pack.

i.e. you should buy the 1J "Rick Hunter" /w fast pack and switch it to your 1S "Roy". I know what you want because I wanted the same as you :) so just do what I said :) and don't discute it !!! ;)

Flippant_remark : several days? You mean several months, right? Yesterday I was ffrrrfffrrrrrrouusshhhhhh-ing with my toys.

Lol I did that. the strike pack is on the low viz for me.

I think th ejoy of a 1/48 will last a few years if not more. i I stil love to look at mine and go starry eyed. lol.

  5. I don't see what the travesty is.

The Japanese companies couldn't market their products in the U.S. before.  Still Can't.

Harmoney Gold can't market its products (Macross Saga) in Japan before.  Still Can't.

    Ay-ay-ay...

That's what everyone always assumes, but it's just NOT true.

Look hard enough and YES, there ARE Toynami valks on the shelves of stores in Tokyo. And it pisses me off.

I want to know how the hell they're getting away with this.

imports? same can be said about yamato toys here.

  6. Ali Sama- Take your own advice and learn international copyright and other laws.

Just because a company procures the distribution rights for a show doesn't give them ALL of the rights to the franchise, as HG claims it has.

I was in negotiations to produce a "Ninja scroll" mini comic to be released with the "ninja scroll" tv sereis. The us distribution compnay loved the idea and wanted to persue it, then the found out they did nto have the rights to do so. The oucld nto creat original content as to the agreement. If they did it would not be pretty.

Bigwest etc could have stopped robotech on it;s tracks the minute it hit tv if the contract was not solid. You can;t jsut claim youhaev a right and have it be true. You either have it or you don't.

As far as the franchise. if they buy DYRL you can bitch mone complaine. wont; change jack sh*t.. Peopelw ith money cna buy anything. Big west and studio nue are there to maek money. If they cna make money on a product that is 20 years old or so. they will. get with the prorgam.

  7. Well for original SDF Macross maybe. BUT, not Macross Plus, 7 and Zero. No damn way they can just call them "Veritechs".

    we do it every day.

    japan == nihon or nippon

    india == HIndustan

    turkey == tujkestan or tiurliya

veritch is jsut what they clal it. it has a meaning of a transformign mecha for most americna who grew up wtchign robotech.

i knwo it;s claled a valkyire. so do you. jsu tliek a perosn from india knwoes he is not an india but a hindustani but doesnt; give a sh*t what we call him.

  8. Geez, just because a Robotech fan sees the so-called "RDF" insiginia they automatically think it's Robotech. A majority truly are ignorant, the ones that aren't are RPGers because they read into the whole mecha history and whatnot. Some even call them "Veritechs" when they clearly know it's Macross and NOT Robotech.

the vf-1 in robotech si claled a veritch valkyrie.

so what if they call it a veritech. It wont; change what it is.

i jsut look at ti as tomatoe and tomAto.

  9. Man Duke Togo, there's some dumb ass on Robotech.com that says "gives you more info in the story of robotech. Now has anyone seen Macross: Do You Remember Love? Now that was a good movie. A whole recap of the robotech series in a few hours." Now, that person and many others are all wondering who and (God forbid) what "Hikaru" is.

He is the japanified name given to old rick. lol

No he is hikaru's long lost twin brother!!!

    j.k

want a dumb Sh*t lol.. not you the guy you quoted. lol

  10. could be worst. hg start broadcasting RT in japan and selling rt dvds. or even claim M0 as a RT prequel.

They can't broadcats Robotech in Japan, we know that for certain. And I have no idea how exactly they would go about getting the footage of Macross Zero. Unless the stole it from official DVD releases.

If they go the footage it means they paid the owners of the animation etc. you peopel ned to learn international copywrite and other laws.

  11. I recently won an acution for a Japanese gamecube modded to play American games. I got it for like 120.50 shipped. saved around 15 dollars. Anyhow, I got it for the sole purpose to play the Naruto games, but I wanted to also know what other good games would there be, and if anyone had any reccomnedations.

    thanks in advance :)

    thoes games rock.

    chekc out my http://users.ign.com/collection/ali-sama]collection[/url].

I;d recomend zelda for personal enjoyment. Ulitmate muscle and one piece are awsome party games. the ares are fun also.

  12. At least HG/Toynami are putting the effort to make little nods and caveates towards the original shows and their fans.  These DYRL superposables.  The special edition SPs in the SDCC.  The Mospeada-style Legioss fighters.

Personally, I think this is a great thing for Toynami to be doing.

You must think it's also a great thing what Joons and the Chinese bootleggers of the 1/55 Takas did.

wow. that totoaly describe s a company who paid for the rights of a show. yeah it does.

  13. I'm no HG lover, but if BW is now willing to deal with HG and license Macross properties to them, this could potentially be a good situation for us.

That is of course only if HG is willing to release pure Macross anime, i.e. subbed, completely uncut and unedited, with all orignial character names retained and no mention at all of Robotech.

they alredy did this..... animeego sets.

  14. Heh one thing hasbro has that takara doesn't is decent quality control, Takara MP Prime has really cheap plastic and due to the weight that they support(usualy around the feet) stress marks and breakages are common, Takara used really cheap plastic for MP Prime where as Hasbro used a much more hardier plastic, unless you are just going to keep him in the box and never open it, get the Takara version. If you are going to open and pose and display him get the Hasbro version, granted it has the shortened stacks, but really yuo don't notice them after awhile. It's sorta like when widescreen first appeared, you really noticed the black bars on the top and the bottom of the screen but now it's so commonplace you don't really notice it anymore, it's kinda the same with Prime's smoke stacks.

    huh?

mien is fine. what are you smoking?

Takara MP prime uses much cheaper plastic, Hasbro has much more hardier plastic for the MP Prime.

    source?

  15. Well a common problem I heard is that they have a tendency to be decapitated due to some sort of pins they have in their neck, is that true?

LOL....not true. The 1/55 is a very tough toy.

    Graham

my old vf1j's arm broke of rather easily. they can be fragile in soem areas. wel I had th eoirignal vf1j not th ebandai reissue.

Well didn't his mom tell him that he will go blind... or his arm will fall off if he keeps doing that? :D

Yeah. But that did nto stop you either so you should not be talking. lol. j./k serisoly the arm at teh sholder wehre itis attached othe bodey god loose then snapped off.

  16. valkyries dont eat fuel. They use some nuclear combustible. Don't ask how it works. I think it doesn't work in real world.

Only fast packs use boosters (back + legs) carbon based combustible for standard combustion of mixture of oxygen + hydrogen I think. (if you own a 1/48 toy with fast pack, you can remove the panel and see the tanks).

hydrogen tanks are used in fusion. i
