  1. So has anyone been playing Ni No Kuni yet? If so, how is it? I've been reading alot of good things about it so far. I tried the demo and had some difficulty adjusting to the battle system. The World Map was nice and reminded me of JRPGs of old.
  2. Another video of the Su-35 putting on an aerobatic dance. Some interesting stuff between 1:45 and 2:30.
  3. Yeah, the flying vacuum cleaner is definitely much higher on the ugly totem than the F-35.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fapm4QuprgM Just no angles that make the F-35 look good. Still a good video.
  5. I beat Wing Commander Saga yesterday and all I can say is it is definitely a worthy addition to Chris Roberts' series despite being a fan-made project. It was nice how they adjusted mission difficulty to each fighter in a way. Stepping into the F-103 Excalibur almost makes you feel invincible at first until a few missions later. I liked the homage paid to WC:Privateer at the end. I really hope Roberts revives the WC franchise with his new Squadron 42 project.
  6. Ray is alot bigger then I thought it would be. I like what I'm seeing though.
  7. Of all consoles I've ever had in my possession, my original PS2 took the most abuse and lasted the longest out of all of them. It saw the most action with Gran Turismo 4 and Star Wars Battlefront which claimed a number of controllers.
  8. My original PS2 that I purchased back in 2001 died awhile ago. Actually, non of my original Sony consoles from the PSX to PS3 survived. PSX: The disc spinner broke off. My fault for not treating it with kid gloves. PS2: It was running into serious problems playing certain games. I decided to part with it after my attempts to fix the issue (altering the disc tray angle) failed. 40GB PS3: YLOD
  9. I beat both Ruby and Emerald once a long time ago. I actually had an easier time taking on Ruby Weapon just due to luck with that quick sand attack it does. I didn't do my research with Emerald and had a much tougher time dealing with it. Another interesting question is, has anyone here defeated Ultimate and Omega Weapon in FFVIII? To this day, I haven't really had the motivation to try either. I had attempted Omega once and that didn't go well. Currently, I've been playing the hell out of Wing Commander Saga which is a great fan-made game. Some of the later missions are just ridiculous though on the difficulty scale. Kept losing the Armageddon because some Kilrathi torpedo bomber would escape my view and I'd be too preoccupied with evading missile shots. Got through it last night though.
  10. Didn't expect it to just explode like that. Lucky shot from an AA gun getting the fuel tank?
  11. I was a Red Mage and then a Dragoon. Both were interesting in their own respect. If you went the Dragoon route however, you'd have to prepare for a long wait if you're trying to get into a party. Dark Knights and samurai were usually picked before the DRG in my experience. In many cases, you were better off just soloing it. After a certain point as the Red Mage, you just become the backup to the White Mage in party. I had my fun playing the game and made some good friends in FFXI but after a certain point, I just got tired of the same grind. I haven't even touched FFXIV.
  12. To add what GU-11 said about VIII. I was turned off by the whole 'everyone just happened to grow up in the same orphanage element along with the GF taking up the characters memories to make these two plot elements mesh better. It just felt lazy to me on the part of the writers. @Shaorin: Only title I could give you is Tales of Symphonia.
  13. I'd second the recommendation to play IX. To me, it was the last 'great' FF title. VIII was okay but has a number of elements that I just don't care for such as the junction system and enemies that level up with you. I also never got into playing the card game. The plot through the first 2 discs kept my attention but went downhill afterwards. Despite this, it's still one of the most memorable game in the franchise for me. Maybe it was because I also in high school at the time when I first played it and it was interesting having that kind of relation to the characters plus VIII made a major visual transition from what I had seen with VII. The music was another big winner for me with VIII.
  14. I think it's just safe to say that the series wasn't the same after Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu left. Square Enix let the franchise fall into mediocrity. VI and VII are still my favorites aswell. Followed by IX, V and VIII.
  15. I tried to like XIII and just couldn't get over the first 25 hours of point A to B grinding. The characters nor story really caught on with me either. Then tried the demo to XIII-2 but didn't waste anytime on the main game. Final Fantasy basically died in my eyes when X-2 came around. Right now, I've started a playthrough of Parasite Eve. I never gave this one a chance when it first came out but became curious again after watching an old review of the game.
  16. I was actually hoping this was a joke. So Square Enix, any ideas for an original title? Square Enix:
  17. A nice look at the redone cockpits on the F-15s in Flaming Cliffs 3.
  18. God, I'm imagining 10-15 of those flying together.
  19. Finished Legend of Dragoon last night. Awesome game despite some long-winded storytelling at times. I remember hearing rumors of a sequel but Sony quickly dropped the hammer on that much to the fans disappointment which is a shame. This was probably one of the best looking games on the PSX.
  20. I went through the whole heat gun and repasting process. Pain in the butt since it was first time. Turned it on, came on fine initially and died after about 15 seconds. Did more research and the power supply may have went bad for my PS3 or I need to reflow again and use no clean flux. I don't know now. May just sell it as parts and look into getting a slim. It's just strange because the original thermal paste wasn't dried out like I expected it to be and I usually always kept it in the basement which is dry and relatively cool.
  21. There were only two recent occasions where the fan went frighteningly high and that was during a longer than usual Battlefield 3 session and when I was playing Uncharted 2 which I know pushes the PS3.
  22. Definitly don't consider this a long term fix. The only other question have is I picked up some Arctic Ceramique but have read that most people prefer Arctic Silver 5 for console repair. People have said the difference in cooling is very small but that the Ceramique is non-conductive as opposed to AS5 which played into my choice. Not sure if I should reconsider or if it'll make a difference period.
  23. "Sigh" My PS3 finally Yellow-lighted on me after alittle over 4 years. It's the 40GB model. Talked to Sony and it didn't seem worth the $105 to have it repaired when $95 more would get me a new 160GB slim model. Money is tighter right now and I'm saving for the holidays so I won't be looking into a new PS3 for alittle while. I'm debating on whether I should attempt to reconnect the soldering on the motherboard (I already have a heat gun) and reapply thermal paste or just put it on ebay. Anyone else here fix their own console after RROD or YLOD?
