Can you illustrate what you mean? Looking photos of the model vs lineart, I'm not seeing a problem. EDIT: In all honesty... I'll be getting the RG 00 Raiser, but pretty much only because I'm trying to build the entire RG line. The 00 Raiser is actually my least favorite 00 designs. While I don't have a problem with Exia or the 00 Gundam, I've always thought that a Gundam wearing a plane for a cape is stupid. And, given how small the 00 Gundam's feet are, I'll bet it'll be hard to balance. Something tells me that I might be displaying the 00 Gundam by itself...

Star Wars Rebels - animated series
mikeszekely replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's funny you bring that up. My buddy and I were talking about Gundam and Star Wars the other day, and I mentioned that one of the things I like about Gundam is that there's good and bad on both sides. I mentioned that, while I liked Rebels, I didn't really like how the Empire is almost a comic caricature of evil. I told him I'd love a Star Wars show that's about a group of Stormtroopers as good guys... guys who are simply loyal and patriotic, guys who are shown to be protecting the Empire's citizens, fighting pirates, criminals, and rebel terrorists whose actions are shown to harm innocents. -
Well... AGE-1 is done. Remember how I said before that I thought that Unicorn Mode Gundam Unicorn was a pretty simple kit? AGE-1 has three runners, not counting beam saber blades and polycaps. It doesn't have a lot of extras or accessories (two all-purpose fists and one open left hand, two beam saber hilts, two long, blades, two short blades, a shield, and the DODS rifle, nothing else). Everything is build simply and predictably. There are stickers for the eyes, the green sensors on the rifle and the back of its head, the black on the knees, and the black with blue-green glowing A's on the chest and head. Almost everything else is molded in the correct colors, and for a change I was able to build an HG model with almost no paint (all I did was the thruster exhausts in the shoulders and part of the wrist that's molded onto the white parts of the hands). In fact, at times there's almost RG color separation going on, like putting the yellow chest vent part over a gray interior part. Honestly, the way some parts fit, the way the colors are laid out, I'd say it was a safe bet that the AGE-1 was designed with model kits in mind. You might think that such simplicity would make the kit too easy, but I found it to be rather satisfying. It helps that, say what you will about the show (I really liked the Flit and Asemu arcs, but the whole show fell apart in the Kio arc), the Federation mobile suits in Gundam AGE were actually pretty good designs, and the AGE-1 is no exception. It's evocative enough of the RX-78 without being slavish, or venturing into the oddness of the G-Self or the ridiculousness of some of the SEED MS. What's more, the joints have a fantastic range of motion, allowing you to put the AGE-1 into all kinds of awesome poses, even without an action base. Plus, with great ankle range and without a giant backpack that's become all-too-common in Gundam, it's pretty easy to keep the AGE-1 balanced. You can even pose it on one foot. If you're looking for a project, you're probably going to want to pick up something a little more complicated. If you're looking for a simple, satisfying kit to kill and afternoon without a lot of fuss, looks cool, and you can play with when you're done, you really can't go wrong with the AGE-1 Normal. I might even check out a few more of the AGE kits now.

Not sure I'm up for double-dipping, but Gundam Breaker 3 would be a must-buy for me if they announce it. Speaking of... before the PS4, Bamco announced a Gundam game was in development, and made a cool trailer... and that's it. Has anyone heard beans about it since then? I'd love to find out that it's a proper sequel to Gundam Battle Universe, but I'm not holding my breath.- 6894 replies

I was having a lousy day, but one good thing happened... the AGE-1 Normal kit I'd ordered forever ago finally arrived! Looks like it'll be a fun little kit, although I probably won't start it until tomorrow or Wednesday, as I'm busy with other things. And when I'm not, I'm playing a Gunpla-related videogame... Gundam Breaker 2. I go into more detail about it in the "All Things Videogame Related" thread, but suffice to say if you have a PS3, you like videogames, and you like Gundam/Gunpla, it's a fun and import-friendly game.

All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!
mikeszekely replied to Keith's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wow. Uh... yeah. So... not to totally change the subject or anything... but I finally got around to importing Gundam Breaker 2. For those of you not familiar with the series, it's a Gundam game, but unlike the vast majority of Gundam games, you're not actually playing as a Gundam pilot. Instead, you build Gundam models, then take on a variety of missions with your model to collect more parts you can upgrade your model with. It's got a heavy hack and slash feel, almost like Dynasty Warriors Gundam/Gundam Musou, but ranged and special attacks are more important. For those of you who are familiar, there's a number of changes from the first one, mostly positive. +Individual parts have levels, and can be upgraded. In other words, sure, a Strike Gundam body might be better than a GM II's body, but if you really like that GM II body, you can upgrade it so that it's still useful. +The controls are tweaked a bit. Instead holding L1 and pressing a button to fire your ranged weapon, L1 simply fires your ranged weapon. Hold it to fire a more powerful charged shot. +Specials are changed too. Instead of having more powerful versions that take longer to charge, you can level them up with use. After firing off a special, it will recharge to a lower level first, then the higher level. If you use the special before it's charged to full, it'll be the weaker version. Useful in a pinch. +More parts from more suits, including a F91, Victory, AGE, and Pale Rider. +More options for painting, with many parts having double the number of areas for separate colors and the ability to use metallic paints. +Not a lot of Japanese is required to figure out how to play the game. -Still kind of grindy, and it's sometimes hard to tell where to get some materials. -When upgrading a part, it's hard to tell if the upgrade will be better than an un-upgraded different weapon until you've already upgraded it. -Some Japanese is probably necessary to understand how changing or upgrading a part effects your build. Overall, I'm really enjoying it and feel comfortable recommending it to Gundam and Gunpla fans looking for an import-friendly game to waste the hours with.- 6894 replies

Yeah. I loved the first two Silent Hill games, but I totally lost interest after that. P.T. was excellent, though, and Silent Hills was the first game in the series I was actually looking forward to in ages.- 6894 replies

The 3rd party Constructicons do look a lot better, but I hear that Devastator is going to be bigger (like Titan Metroplex-sized). Also cheaper enough that my wife said she'll buy it for me for our anniversary. Also, I was under the impression that Devastator will only be sold as a gift set. It might be all or nothing, there.- 17162 replies

Well, after playing with them, I think I rather like the Stunticons. I agree that they're a little more simplistic, but I like how they're all slightly different vs the Aerialbots, who all seem to transform the same way. Since I haven't found Motormaster yet, I have them all stuck on Optimus. In any case, I like them enough that I'm kind of looking forward to the upcoming Protectobots, and I'm hoping that they manage to crank out a few more combiners before the whole Combiner Wars things winds down (especially Bruticus and Predaking). I'm having some trouble deciding where to put the limb robots' weapons in gestalt mode. For Superion, I settled on the black double-barreled blaster on top of Silverbolt's, the white one on Superion's back, and the single-barrel blasters on the sides of Superion's thighs. For Stunticonimus Prime, Dead End's pipe is on Prime's combined gun, Offroad's axe is pegged against the side of Offroad (so, the bottom of Prime's leg, almost like a boot knife), and Breakdown and Dragstrip's knife/swords in the bottom of Optimus' fists, so they're sticking up like spikes on Prime's back. Not sure how well that arrangement will work with Menasor's sword, though. EDIT: Speaking of Bruticus... I was looking at pictures of CW Hot Spot, and I could totally that as CW Onslaught if you replace Hot Spot's ladder with Onslaught's back guns. And I've already pointed out the similarities between Alpha Bravo and Vortex, right down the head sculpt. It's not idea, but I could see Hasbro retooling Offroad/First Aid into Swindle. That'd really only leave Blast Off and Brawl that need new sculpts.- 17162 replies

I managed to find Chromia awhile back, but Windblade and and Arcee never. It's definitely a hunt for these things. Seemed like they were plentiful until a few years ago, then starting around the Reveal The Shield they started to become more scarce. I've missed out on entire waves of CHUGs.- 17162 replies

Well, after a trips to my local Walmart (few RiD, mostly AoE) and TRU (some CW, but all Wave 1) yielded no results, I went out with a buddy to an area I almost never frequent. Lucky me, while they had no Voyagers they had all of the Wave 2 CW Deluxes. Now my Superion is complete, and I just need Motormaster to make Menasor (in the meantime, the Stunticons can combine with Optimus).- 17162 replies

I guess Freedom is pretty popular (it's probably my own favorite from SEED, but that's not saying a lot). Still, I was hoping for Revive versions of older stuff, like a lot of the Zeta and ZZ kits sorely in need of upgrades. Bigger bummer is that the red Zeta Plus is only going to be sold at the event. Guess I'll be stuck with the gray one...

Nah, I guess I'm going to have to live vicariously through yours. While I dig that it's actually redder and less pink, and I'm into the sniper rifle, I kind of feel like the rest of the kit would be a let down from the RG version. Same reason I'm not going to get the Revive version of the RX-78-2. I actually need to cut back a little; I spent a lot recently upgrading some of my other love (my PC), so aside from the AGE-1 that's in the process of shipping still and the RG G3 that I preordered, I'm really not looking at much more than the Revive Guncannon and the RG 00 right now. Always! One of these days, I'm going to talk my wife into letting me get a 3D printer. I'm going to leave out the part where I mostly want one for custom gunpla...

So, I finished Delta Plus. This kit is something of a mixed bag. For starters, there's not a lot in the way of extras, including no extra fists for the left hand, and a solitary beam saber hilt that doesn't store anywhere on the kit (even though they give you two blades). But you do get this extra thing. You need that to transform into waverider mode, and I have to say that the Delta Plus has one of the better-looking waverider/mobile armor modes. Almost makes me want to buy a second kit to display in that mode. Except you're not really transforming anything. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind popping off a part here and there and rearranging some, like the bigger kits. But you're really not doing that at all here. You're basically taking the wings and limbs off and sticking them on that other thing you built. In fact, when you have the Delta Plus in waverider mode, you actually have this much left: Indeed, with everything pulled apart and ready to be reattached in either mode, you have quite a pile of parts. This is fairly typical of HG kits, I gather, but I wish they'd stop. Just make a awesome mobile suit kit, and a cheaper waverider mode kit for the people who want a waverider. It's too much of a pain to transform, there are concessions to the transformation that diminish the mobile suit mode, and you're wasting money on a huge hunk of junk to replace half the actual mobile suit in waverider mode. Perhaps even more egregious are the parts that aren't color accurate. As is typical with HG kits, there's stickers to add some color; in this case, mostly white around the thrusters on the legs and the back of the skirt armor. What bugs me, though, is that Bandai is concerned that you'll miss the white trim on those areas, but molds one of the shield pieces and the beam saber hilt in purple. Both of those parts should be entirely white, and the A runner even has white parts on it. You're on your own with the saber, but they give you a sticker for the shield. The problem is that the sticker only covers maybe a third of the part. Needless to say, I wound up painting instead of using white stickers (although no panel lines, except for on the hoses on the legs... my Gundam marker just doesn't show up on the dark colors used for this kit). Still, the Delta Plus was one of the cooler mobile suits in a series filled with cool mobile suits. I'm complaining because the Delta Plus isn't as good as other Unicorn kits like the Unicorn and Sinanju, but I'm still happy to have a Delta Plus in the Detolf.

I used the Performance Mouse MX a long time, and I think the thumb lip on it was really too much. The G700 has one too, but it's less pronounced. Both are much more humped than the Deathadder, which might be fine for "claw" style mousers, but I really have to say that I prefer the ergonomics of the Deathadder a lot more, and I really don't miss the thumb lip at all. I haven't tried the MX Master, but the ergonomics don't appear all that different from the previous MX or the G700, and that thumb wheel in front of the thumb buttons, combined with the way the thumb buttons are arranged, are a turn off (at least for me). Honestly I'd say you're probably better off with a Deathadder Chroma. It's like half the price, and if you change our mind (or it craps out on your) you could always get an MX Master later, when the price has dropped or retailers regularly run it below MSRP. Oh, and if you get a Blackwidow Chroma keyboard, once you've found the purple you like you can save it in Synapse as a custom color, then apply it to all of your Chroma devices. -

I can't say I've used that mouse to compare it with, but I've used Logitech's Performance Mouse MX and G700 mice (the G700s on display at my Best Buy is identical, save for a textured pattern on the G700s). The Deathadder is lighter than both of the Logitech mice. It's slightly narrower and about as long as the G700, but it has much better ergonomics that make it feel just as wide (if not wider) and longer. The surface is smooth, and the thumb buttons are nearly flush but at the same time are easy to find by feel. The curve makes it very natural to hit the forward thumb button with the tip of the thumb, and the rear one with the joint. Under the thumb buttons and on the bottom right edge the Deathadder has a textured, rubbery material that provides grip for lifting the mouse. Honestly, more than keyboards, I feel comfortable recommending the Deathadder to you, David. I really do like the design. Longevity might be a roll of the dice, but roll the dice with me on this one. Besides... purple. (If that's not a blue enough purple, you can customize the crap out of it with Synapse... also, I think it looks brighter than it really is in this pic, because it's a crappy cell phone pick and my phone's camera can't figure out what to make of a purple light on a matte black surface.) -

mikeszekely replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I just bought a Deathadder Chroma a few days ago. I've heard about their longevity issues, but I decided to weigh it against the popularity of the brand. The more people that use it, the more people that are going to have one that fails, even if the failure rate is the same 1/1000. All I can tell you is that Razer's Synapse software is solid, and if you register a Razer ID you can register your warranty through the software and keep tabs on its status, and you get a 2-year warranty with the Deathadder Chroma. In any case, it's a little lighter than I'm used to, but I'm adjusting quickly. The shape and size are great for my hands and the way I hold my mouse (palm style), there's not to ton of extra buttons I'll never use but two thumb buttons I definitely will, and in the Chroma's case you can use the Synapse software to program the mouse's lighting to match your computer's (or in my case, my keyboard's, since my keyboard has green backlighting by the power LED and the fan control LEDs on my case are blue). All-in-all, assuming it holds up, I'm liking it more than I though I would. Plus side, if you go with a Blackwidow mechanical keyboard, you can manage the mouse and keyboard with the same software.
