Well, that's really good advice, but there isn't a hobby store with Tamiya paints within 30 miles. I checked Amazon, and I can find both there, but not fulfilled by Amazon, and around double what a couple of cans of spray paint would run at the Walmart that's two minutes from me. My wife will probably want to go out tomorrow, so I'll swing by and see what they have, but if it's going to be too much hassle I'll leave it unpainted.

So I guess I'm looking at a red enamel with an acrylic clear coat, then? I don't mind if the red is a little dark, as long as it has a nice metallic look. I'm thinking something like Iron Man's armors.

Yeah, I went with the Krylon Fusion because it advertised on the can that it "bonds to plastic in 15 minutes" and "no sanding or primer required." I wouldn't say that the paint is flaking. I can rub, with pressure, the model I painted, and it doesn't leave a mark on the model. But I'll notice some of the color rubbed off onto my hand. Honestly, I'm not into painting enough to invest in an airbrush or anything. If it's too much hassle, I won't paint the Sinanju (aside from the usual touchups common to HGs that I'll do with paint pens). If I decide to spray though, enamel or acrylic? And which for the clear coat?

Well, I know what I'm doing this weekend! Many, many thanks to davidwhangchoi for getting this to me! I tried telling myself for awhile that it was too much red, but I just knew after I preordered the RX-78-3 that I was going to want all the RX-78 variants.

I've noticed. Krylon's fine, as it's readily available at Walmart. I think the only reason I have the Tamiya is because, a long time ago, I bought it at a hobby shop back when there was one in my area. Do you prefer acrylic or enamel? What works better with their Fusion paints? I have cans of black and white Krylon Fusion I bought when I decided to paint my Crossbone Maoh, and while I think they did a fine job, I've noticed that they can rub off onto your fingers with handling. I was thinking about getting some metallic red for when I do Sinanju, and I'll probably want to clear coat it. Also, do you recommend a Krylon besides Fusion? Fusion sort of melted the masking tape I used with the Psyco Gundam, and made for a difficult clean up.

Depending on how hot, it could be normal. Remember, it's sitting right over a heat sink. Heat from the CPU is actively being funneled toward it, and while the fan is meant to move the heat away and out you're essentially baking it, and that's before we even count the fact that it's got an electric motor running it it. I've worked on computers that had been running and have had reactions like touching a hot pan from touching the fan before it's cooled. There's two things you can look for. First, is there any smoke coming from the fan? That'd be a sign that the fan or the fan's motor is burning. Second, if you take the fan off, does the heat sink appear melted? If the heat sink is failing the fan could be hotter than it should be because the excess heat isn't being radiated away properly, causing it to build up faster than the fan can move it. -
I think you meant Wing, since I didn't line Freedom (and any pics I posted would be like 30 pages back). But yeah, they're really easy to use and they mostly do a good job, so I'd recommend them, especially for beginners. Seriously, the only downside is that they really only work where there are grooves. If the area is too open with shallow sides, or if you're trying to outline something with a convex shape, you'll find that you'll often wipe off all the ink you put down. If you need the numbers, I think it should be GM-21 for gray, and GM-20 for black. I meant to buy both, but I accidentally grabbed two grays, so I can't comment on the black (but I expect it'll show up better on red, blue, gray or other medium to dark plastics). The gray is perfect for while and yellow.

Are you using the brush-style Gundam marker for panel lining? I've found that you don't really need alcohol for those. The ink is a special water-based one that wipes off fine with just a dry q-tip.

I didn't have a problem with decals sticking on Destiny, except for the silver bits on its wings. They would not stay stuck for the life of me. When I built it, it was only maybe my second or third RG kit, and even though I'd built a few HGs years before I didn't start building seriously until I started to build RGs. Suffice to say, I wasn't real experienced, and in hindsight I'd probably have cut the silver stickers instead of folding them. Be careful if you clear coat it. The Tamiya clear coat that I used disolved the silver color. I wound up repainting the squares later with a silver Sharpie.

Imma pass. I think the mechanical wings with mechanical feathers are ridiculous enough, giant organic feathers fluttering off of them (in space, no less) bugs me to no end. EDIT: Had some Amazon credit, so I ordered (all HG) Unicorn Destroy, Sinanju, and AGE-1 Normal. Unfortunately, only Sinanju is fulfilled by Amazon, the others are entirely third party and won't arrive until late April/Early May.

Almost done with Wing Zero. Just need to build the buster rifles, but I can still post shots with the beam sabers. Top half wasn't as fast a build, even with there being fewer panel lines. On the whole... well, the Endless Waltz version of Wing Zero is just an absurd Gundam. Designing a mech with organic-looking wings in a real robot anime must have been one of those ideas that seemed cool in the '90s, but today it's so cheesy that the only Gundam that I think is more ridiculous is the Nether Gundam, and that thing turns into a windmill. Ridiculous design aside, the RG kit is very solid, I'm thinking in my top five even. There's not a lot of bells and whistles here, but it's a solidly-designed kit that takes advantage of engineering improvements to the RG line. In fact, my only complaint is that it's a smaller Gundam with fewer accessories than a lot of the other RGs, but costs the same as most of them. Wing Zero, more than even the SEED RGs, is begging for a stand or an action base, and you'd think for the price they could throw one in. In any case, I strongly recommend RG Wing Zero, unless you really hate Gundam Wing for some reason. Me personally, even as a UC-enthusiast who was kind of disappointed when Wing Zero was announced that I wasn't getting another UC mobile suit (where's my blue Z'Gok and my RG GM?), I'm really looking forward to Bandai releasing the rest of the Operation Meteor Gundams with this frame (and maybe a Tallgeese or III?).

I'm not into the whole Amiibo thing, and even I know that's a big find. Congrats, David. As for Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, you could always try an PlayStation 2 emulator. PS2 emulation isn't as rock solid as some of the older consoles, but PCSX2 ran well enough for me to replay MS Saga awhile back.- 6894 replies

I'm not personally interested, since I think the ZII is a kind of ridiculous in appearance, but Syd at Gaijin Gunpla has a pretty thorough review. What scale is that, Hikuro? I'm a big fan of Zakus, so I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Also, I love how you casually finish new kits quicker than I can finish my morning colony drop like it's not big deal. Anyway, while I was looking for that ZII review for A7, I was checking out some of Syd's other reviews. I mean, with Wing Zero I'm done with RGs until 00 Raiser, so it's back to HGs. I think I've built a lot of HGs I want... sure there are a lot of popular mobile suits that I don't have represented, but some a lot are older kits. I mean, I'm not sure that the HG ZZ Gundam or Alex, for example, will look too hot next to the RGs. I'm thinking I might pick up a couple of Gundam UC kits, but Syd's review has me seriously considering the AGE-1 Normal. I mean, sure, the Gundam Age anime sort of fell apart after the first act, but some of the Federation mecha was pretty hot (the weird dragon Vagans not so much).

Yeah, the gray one with the brush tip, GM21. It's really easy to use; just brush it along the line you want marked, then rub the excess off with a q-tip. The only downside is that it doesn't work too well on shallower or more open spaces because the q-tip will get in and wipe all the ink away. I'm pretty fortunate that with Wing zero the ink has still stuck where I wanted it to.

Started RG Wing Zero tonight after the wife went to bed. Honestly, I didn't expect to get this much done. I was looking at the frame parts and admiring some hooks for the armor, and I was thinking that it was quite different from the UC and SEED kits, but it turned out that it was actually pretty simple and the parts went together quickly. In fact, I'd say 30% of my time was cutting the pieces from the runners, trimming the gate marks, and panel lining the white/light gray bits, 60% stickering (and that's with Wing having somewhat fewer stickers than a UC or SEED unit), and maybe 10% actually fitting parts together. I was hoping to get a few days out of this kit, but I can't see it taking me longer than Wednesday. It might even be done tomorrow.

Crossbone Gundam X2 kai is a P-Bandai exclusive. On the one hand, Crossbone Gundam X2! On the other hand, P-Bandai. I haven't heard if we're getting an X2 non-kai. While we're on the topic, I'm not sure if there's any major differences between the Build Fighters Crossbone Full Cloth that's coming and the Full Cloth that was in Steel 7. If there's no difference (or minimal difference with the option to build it Steel 7), and I get the P-Bandai X2, then I'll really only want for an X3.

I wonder for how many people that's practical for, though? My cable comes in my basement and up through the floor into the living room, so that's where I put my modem and router (especially because I wanted to keep my consoles wired). My bedroom, where I figured I'd put the Vita TV, literally couldn't be further from the router. If I wanted to wire it, I'd need 100' of ethernet cable and either run it across the living room, down the hall, and around my bedroom, tear up the floorboards and run the cables under the floor, or drill all the way through the floor and run the cables along the basement ceiling... all of which would be way more difficult than just taking the PS4 out of the entertainment center and hooking it up in my bedroom when I really want to play there. Honestly, though, it really comes down to the game. Action games don't fare well. NHL 15 was laggy, the timing was just off for Assassin's Creed, and somehow going to Vita flipped the the buttons so that pressing R2 on the Vita TV gave you the R1 button's functions (and vice versa, and same for the Ls) on Sleeping Dogs, even though I was using a PS4 controller on the Vita TV. But I probably spent the most time on my Vita TV playing streaming Diablo III, which worked wonderfully. And it's not like there aren't any good games for the Vita. Persona 4 Golden alone makes a strong case for the system (although, if you have a PS3, you could always buy the PS2 classic non-Golden version). Thing is, even if you get the Vita TV on sale cheap, you're still looking at a memory card, which is currently around $40 for a 16GB that will still fill up too fast. And unless you like re-syncing your controller between consoles, you may want a controller just for it, which makes the bundle seem like a good deal except that it comes with a PS3 controller, and if you want to get the simulated touch screen features you'll want a PS4 controller. And you still have to deal with the fact that games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, WipeOut 2048, and Gravity Rush aren't Vita TV compatible anyway. And, for US customers anyway, none of the big streaming services like Netflix, Hulu+, or Amazon Instant Video, even though they work on the regular Vita. Bottom line, when Sony first started marketing the thing, it seemed like a Roku/Apple TV competitor that happened to play some Vita games, and what we actually got was a half-assed home console version of a handheld Sony barely supports in the first place. When I think of how few Vita-exclusive games there are, and how some of my favorite Vita-exclusives don't even work on the Vita TV, I can't help but suggest that your money would be better-spent on literally almost anything else.- 6894 replies

Not really. Too few Vita games, fewer of which play on the Vita TV, expensive proprietary memory cards, no support for popular streaming video services (even if they work on regular Vita), PS4 streaming is laggy. I bought one and I regret it.- 6894 replies

Has anyone else been following Sword Coast Legends? It's a new PC RPG, based on Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition rules. Some of the guys working on it worked on Dragon Age: Origins, and the developers are promising a DM Mode. It's really, really looking like a modern Neverwinter Nights, which is one of my all time favorites.- 6894 replies

You keep a lot busier than I do when your sick, Hikuro. I had the flu back in January, and I don't think I got out of bed for three days. Just watched TV, dozed, and occasionally played Gundam Breaker. I really should get around to getting the sequel...

I saw those... I think I like that better, but I can see why they changed it. It's neat, but not hero Gundam neat. And I'm glad they didn't go overboard with the add-ons and packs... I think it made Gundam AGE too busy. Like, I really liked the AGE-1 Normal, but just the Normal. But I digress. The last episode of G-Reco is Friday, right? Maybe I'll start watching it now. I know exactly what you mean. All I can say is, if it were me, I'd go with something like this. Like, a dark gray (like my car) for the upper body, feet, and shoulders, and a light gray (like ash) for the arms, head, and lower body.
