B&N... you mean Barnes & Noble? Hmm. The last time I was up there I don't recall that they had much more than "HG" Wing Zero and Deathscythe Hell kits from a long time ago, and maybe an RG Strike Freedom or RG Destiny. I might go check it out. I mean, I know they used to have a few Build Fighters kits (specifically Wing Fenice and Sengoku Astray)... maybe they restocked with a BF Try kit or two since I was there.

I'm probably not the best one to ask, since I actually like chiclet keys, but a little research has most of the mechanical keyboards with Cherry Brown switches at around $130, so maybe go for the K70? It looks like a K70 with Cherry Brown switches and red LED backlighting is $130 or so, and something like $170-$190 for the RGB version with customizable backlighting. Tom's Hardware has it listed as the "Best mechanical gaming keyboard" in their Best Gaming Keyboards of 2015 article (although their best overall is the Razer Blackwidow Chroma, which is also a mechanical keyboard. The Blackwidow's probably aren't for you... they do have one column of macro buttons on the left edge, and they use their own proprietary switches (although I hear that they're basically copies of Cherry's with the "stealth" versions being the equivalent of browns). One nice thing about the Razers, though, is that they have a cutout on the package so you can feel their switches before you buy, and Walmart actually stocks them. With Walmart's lax return policy, you could always try it out, and if you don't like it take it back and order a K70. -
I think others more knowledgeable than I might have better advice on this topic, but from my limited experience it's almost an apples and oranges thing. I've found hand-painting to be useful for small details, like getting some yellow and black on the molded-on-white head vulcans or the black inside a vernier. On larger areas or whole parts, though, you get a much more even look from using some sort of spray, be it an airbrush or a can.

Well (not that anyone cares), I decided to give the Deathadder (specifically, the Chroma version) a try. Seems ergonomic enough. It looks smaller than my Logitech G700, but it feels slightly larger in the palm, with less of an arc to the back. It's also a lot lighter than I'm used to, but I think that's just a matter of getting used to it. I think I'll miss Logitech's "hyper scrolling," though. It's kind of a bummer that the Deathstalker doesn't come in a Chroma version, though. I set the lights on the Deathadder to solid green, to match the keyboard. Would have been cool to have them match the tower's LEDs, though. I snagged a Vesula mouse pad while I was out, too. I like mouse pads with wrist rests, and my old one was smaller and getting kind of grungy. -
That sounds like a lot of fun, like an in-person sort of thing like we got going here. I don't think there are enough Gundam/gunpla fans around my area for that sort of thing.

Yeah, that just seems to be the standard business model for games these days. It used to be just big-budget games, now it seems like even relatively obscure stuff is coming out with season passes at launch. So... looks like I'll be waiting for a GotY edition with all DLC included...- 6894 replies

To each his own... but you're watching the wrong sport's playoffs. Red Wings/Lightning, Pens/Rangers, and now Jets/Ducks. It's a good day for playoff hockey!

Nope. The originals were made by Pandemic, who also made Destroy All Humans, Full Spectrum Warrior, and Mercenaries. EA bought them almost exactly around the time they bought Bioware, then killed them off.- 6894 replies

Ouch! At that price, I'll stick with a sleeveless green one... Well, that's just because Sinanju is probably one of the most badass mobile suits Zeon/Neo Zeon ever fielded. Makes Sazabi look sad. Take pic with phone, upload pic to Google Drive/Dropbox, go to 'puter, download pic from Google Drive/Dropbox, crop as needed. I stopped using my phone, though, because it takes horrible pictures. I found my old digital camera from when I went to China, and started using it instead.

Well, I guess if your Deathadder is still going strong, not all Razer products have longevity issues. -

Ah. Well, I'm not super concerned with my boot time. My previous computer took around two full minutes to fully boot. I've had this one for... at least two years, and I'm still caught off guard by how fast it boots. As for memory, I've got this Firefox window open, plus an instance of Task Manager and Resource Monitor open, with MSE, GeForce Experience, Logitech Gaming Software, Synapse, and Steam all running in the background. Resource Monitor reports 3326MB in use, 6619mb in standby, and 6155mb free. So I'm not really worried about that either. But yeah, probably going to kill that Logitech software. -

Ah. It doesn't really bother me, especially since I'm running both Windows and the Razer/Logitech software from the SSD, so it's all up and running from a cold boot in no time flat. I just don't want to run both. In any case, not sure about the rest of their gear, but a lot of the Deathstalker's features work from the keyboard without running Synapse. If you don't run the software, though, how are you supposed to program the buttons/macros? I mean, I know my Logitech mouse is supposed to store all the settings in local memory, and I'm pretty sure that Razers' stuff does too, but isn't the software necessary to program that stuff in the first place? And, to each his own and what not, but I think it'd be kind of weird to bring your own mouse and keyboard, but leave your own box at home. Heck, I'm more likely to bring my tower and borrow a mouse/keyboard/monitor. -

Isn't the Taipan an ambidextrous mouse? And what's up with everyone not liking software? I've used Logitech mice for years, and I've always used their software to map the thumb keys to G and V (which I use as my grenade and melee keys in FPS games). The Synapse software Razer uses has the added benefit of allowing you to register your warranties and keep track of their serial numbers and warranty status. -

Lucky for me, I haven't played a Battlefield game since Bad Company 2, which was still good! I'm cautiously optimistic. I want this to play like the Paradox games, and I want this to have decent singleplayer modes. As much as I liked playing Battlefront with friends, I'm one of those odd ones who actually spent way more time with them in singleplayer.- 6894 replies

Doesn't hurt to try. Every time I've emailed Amazon to complain, they've done something. Before this, before I had Prime, I'd order stuff and use their Super Saver. Twice, a week had gone and they hadn't shipped, and both times I emailed and complained that I was being treated like a second class citizen, and that it was one thing to have them use a slow shipping method and an entirely different matter for them to take over a week to even put my stuff in a box to get ready to ship. Both times they apologized and upgraded my shipping to next-day shipping. Even if it's physically impossible to fulfill your order any quicker, they might give you a credit or something.

Yeah, I've heard that. I've heard the same about Logitech, and I actually had a Performance Mouse MX die on me, plus the wireless doesn't seem to work right with my G700. The Deathadder doesn't seem too expensive, though, especially if you're looking at Amazon pricing instead of Razer's pricing. Since I already have a Razer keyboard and Synapse, I might give it a try. -
Apparently complaining to Amazon helps. They basically apologized and said it was backordered, gave me $5 promotional credit, then maybe an hour later I got an email that my Delta Plus shipped. I gotta get back to IKEA. Definitely need that third Detolf.

Whaaaat? How could you not be a fan? It's basically the 0090's version of Char's Zaku. I'm passing, but only because I'm one of those weird people that insists that all their models be in scale with each other, and for me that scale is 1/144. But if they made and HG version, I'd be all over that.

Anyone have any experience with Razer mice? I've used Logitech stuff for a long time, but I got all wireless stuff back when I needed wireless gear. Now I'm transitioning more toward gaming gear. I recently replaced my Logitech Wireless Illuminated Keyboard with a Razer Deathstalker Expert (yeah, I know, but I weird... I prefer chiclet keys, and I don't really like mechanical ones). I like the Synapse software Razer uses for managing their stuff, so I was thinking about getting a Razer mouse, too. Current mouse is a Logitech G700... I don't really like the placement of the thumb buttons, or all the other extra buttons, the battery life stinks, the wireless (which I thankfully don't need anymore) is flaky, and I don't like the Logitech software. What I do like is the ergonomics... I use a palm grip, right handed. I also like the scroll wheel. It has a clicky mode, which I use for gaming, but a frictionless mode I use for web surfing and junk. Only problem with it is that it has a tendency to scroll one way, then scroll backward a few lines. Anyway, to avoid having to run both Razer and Logitech's software, I'm curious if any of you would recommend a Razer mouse (and if so, which one)? I want one that's good for gaming and it must have at least two thumb buttons on the side, but it should be a good all-around mouse, since I use my gaming PC for all my computing (and I spend a lot of time doing that). I play almost all genres, but I don't need one of those MMO mice with like a whole number pad on the side or what not. -
Hey anubis, welcome! Don't be shy, we're a pretty laid back bunch. In fact, most of us are building HG and RGs, with the occasional MG or PG thrown in from time to time, and we're happy to share everything from straight builds to extensive custom jobs. You tell me. Remember how I said the Destroy mode was a pretty easy, straightforward build? It might as well be an RG compared to Unicorn mode. Stuff that was a bunch of parts layered over the psycoframe effect parts is like two or three parts snapped together on this guy, and if you don't bother with any paint it'd still take a trained eye to fine areas that aren't color correct (although I still painted some leg verniers and parts of the shield, stickler that I am). If I was looking for a good kit for beginners, I might skip the SD kits and go straight to this one. I will say, though, that panel lining is virtually a necessity here. A lot of stuff that was its own part on the Destroy mode is just lines carved onto a bigger part here. Some odd choices... like Bandai throws in a pair of beam saber blades in this kit, but not the Destroy mode... even though the backpack sabers aren't accessible in Unicorn mode, meaning Unicorn mode has two usable sabers vs. four in Destroy Mode. Maybe Bandai did it to make up for the fact that there's like two fewer runners in the Unicorn mode kit? Also, the Hyper Bazooka is alright, but I swear I don't remember Unicorn being equipped with one until the Full Armor version (a kit I'll probably pass on... I don't really want to build another Unicorn enough just for the green psycoframe and some extra crap on the back). Seeing Unicorn with it is sort of odd. I think I'd honestly have preferred the beam gatling gun, or even another beam magnum, to pose it in the Detolf with.

That Destiny looks good with the backpack and effects parts... just gotta get those weapons on there now. Well... you'll recall that when I ordered Unicorn Destroy, I'd also ordered an AGE-1 Normal. Yeah... I got no idea where that's at. TSJH1 had sent me emails with Japan Post tracking for Unicorn, but my Amazon order for AGE-1 says no tracking is provided for it, so... yeah. And the Delta Plus that was sold by TSJH1, but fulfilled by Amazon? Didn't arrive. So I checked my order status, it says that it hasn't shipped, and the estimated delivery date is April 22nd. I sent Amazon an email asking what's up, and they basically told me that they're working on getting one for me, but that they don't actually have one to fulfill my order with on hand. Not cool. So, instead of having a bunch of Gunpla to work on, all I got is the Unicorn mode Unicorn.
