I remember thinking at the time that DotM contradicted RotF, too. It had something to do with Megatron serving the Fallen and the Fallen's plans vs his partnership with Sentinel Prime and Sentinel Prime's plans not being compatible, but I can't remember the specifics without re-watching the movies... something I'm not really inclined to do.

I've only seen the first three episodes, so I don't want to really judge it yet (took me a few episodes to get into Prime, after all). I agree with RD Blade's assessment; it's a little more kiddie than Prime was. The Decepticons especially are more like caricatures instead of fleshed out characters. I do kinda like Grimlock, though.- 17162 replies

Macross variable fighters Gundams are not. Even the best variable mobile suits (Zeta, Delta Plus, Murasame) are mostly just passable in waverider/MA mode. Usually they just look like mobile suits folded up into a brick of mobile suit limbs with a gun/shield in front.

Spider-Man: Homecoming, in theaters July 7, 2017

I liked Tobey's Peter Parker better. I think he did a better job of playing the nerd who gets bullied waking up one morning with spider powers. Garfield's Peter Parker had the smarts, but he was too "cool". On the other hand, I liked Garfield's Spider-Man better than Tobey's. Garfield's Spidey really nailed the wisecracking smart-alecky webslinger of the comics. Also, although it's probably not fair to compare (since the webslinging in the first Spidey was mind-blowing at the time), but I thought the way Spidey moved in the Garfield films was better. As good as Tobey and Andy were, in their own ways, I'm cautiously optimistic that with Kevin Feige and Marvel's involvement we might get a Spider-Man movie that doesn't suck, which is all I really want. The Amazing Spider-Man was just ok, ASM2 was awful. As for Tobey's Spider-Man films, all I can say is go back and re-watch them. The first one holds up pretty well, and the third is as bad as you remember, but the second? I remember thinking at the time that it was just as good as the first, but it doesn't at all. In fact, I think it might actually be worse than 3.- 266 replies

That's the Zeta II's Waverider mode. ZII's like the lovechild of regular Zeta and Methuss, so it's thicker and less wingy in Waverider mode. Yeah, I'm aware of the ZII and ReZEL's origins. And it's not that I don't think the ZII doesn't belong, it's that the ReZELs take priority, and I'm thinking that after building two ReZELs I'll find building the ZII boring. Then again, I've built two RG Zetas, two RG Zakus, two RG MK-IIs, and two RG Gundams with a third on the way. Plus I was contemplating getting the HGUC V-Dash and Harrison Madden F91, I'll almost certainly get the HGBF Crossbone Gundam Full Cloth, an strongly considering the P-Bandai Crossbone X2, and would really like for Bandai to do an HGUC Crossbone X3. So what do I know about getting bored with remolds?

IIRC, Magnus has had both white thighs and red thighs in the IDW comics, and I kind of prefer the white. The lighter blue matches the comics, too (although I also prefer the darker blue). Actually, as a fan of the IDW comics, I have to go with the Hasbro version is because I don't want Alpha Trion, I want Minimus Ambus. Although the main reason I'm going with the Hasbro version is because I want him enough to pick him up if I see him in the store, but not enough to order him online, especially an import.- 17162 replies

Yeah, the ZII is pretty cool, but I'm worried it's a little too similar to the ReZEL, which I want for my Unicorn display (twice...regular and Type-C). And that Mk-III you're checking out? I'd be all over that if it was an HG instead of a RE/100.

I appreciate the advice, but 00 Gundam never resonated with me. When I decided to really get into gunpla, I decided to build the entire RG line (although I've yet to pick up 00 Raiser), and my forays into HG have mostly been to add mobile suits that I liked but aren't represented in RG (but retain the same scale). And I guess I'm something of a UC purist, because I've got a Gouf Custom, a Zaku I Black Tri Stars, a regular Zaku II, Shin Matsunaga's Zaku II, Nu Gundam, GM Sniper II, Victory, V2, F91, Crossbone Gundam X1, Unicorn (both Unicorn mode and Destroy mode), Delta Plus, Psyco Gundam, and Sinanju (my personal favorite). My non-UC HGs consist of Crossbone Maoh, Sengoku Astray, Deathscythe Hell, AGE-1 Normal, Turn A, and G-Self. Out of those, I'll probably give the Sengoku Astray to a friend when the RG Red Frame comes out, ditto for the D-Hell if/when Bandai revisits Wing Zero's frame like they said they were going to. My love for UC is such that I've even got a few P-Bandai RGs (Casval's Gundam, Zeta 3, and Gundam G3 is on the way), and I'll probably get the P-Bandai HG Crossbone Gundam X2.

Ooh, that I don't know. While I've been into Gundam for years, I only seriously got into gunpla a little before the RG Exia was released, and I started with the RG line, so I never touched an HG 00. Actually, aside from a pair of Endless Waltz kits from the late '90s and two from Build Fighters, all my non-RG kits are UC.

Depends on what other feet you're comparing to, but I'll say yes. Compared to the Mk II, Zeta, or any of the numerous SEED MS in the RG line, Exia and 00 have smaller feet.

That's probably an assumption, due to the fact that Animated ended around the time that Revenge of the Fallen came out. Prime toys sold alongside Dark of the Moon toys, after all, with Classics/Universe/Generations chugging along amidst all four movies, Animated, Prime, and the new Robots In Disguise. Granted, my explanation is, too. As far as I can recall, Hasbro was just like, "yeah, it's canceled" at Botcon '09, and an official reason was never given. But given how many concurrent Transformers toylines there's been, I think it's more probable that Animated was killed simply because it was on the Cartoon Network and Hasbro was gearing up to launch The Hub with Transformers Prime.- 17162 replies

Clearly! Grats! I don't know if it's because I dig the white jet mode, or because his gold, round head and big eyes made more of an impression on me, but I prefer him to Fireflight. In other CW news, I got tired of waiting for the Protectobots to start showing up. I ordered Streetwise, Blades, and First Aid on Amazon and they should be here Wednesday. I preordered Hot Spot, with a release date of 6-15. Can't find Rook, though.- 17162 replies

Often that's true, but in my opinion other mobile suits pull off the thicker look better (like the Zaku III or the Dreissen). Sazabi's legs are a little too thick, and the arms a little too small. But Zeon has their share of more... proportional mobile suits, like the Geara Zulu, Bawoo, or R-Jarja. Even stuff like the Zaku II, while being bulkier than your average Feddie suit, has more even proportions than Sazabi's "30% of my mass is my feet" look.

I did. And he was possibly my favorite toy of my childhood. Usually when I played with my Transformers, I'd put them away in my toybox when I was done, but Trippy went everywhere with me like some sort of hard plastic teddy bear. I've mostly avoided G1 reissues, because honestly I think the inarticulate ill-proportioned bricks of the '80s haven't aged pretty well, but even I'm tempted by this one... even though I don't have room for it and I know it's going to be stupid expensive and I have a baby on the way that's probably a better use of my financial resources. Well, yeah. The cliffhanger ending and the abrupt cancellation really made for an unsatisfactory end to the series, and some kind of resolution, be it a movie special, a direct-to-video mini-season, or even a comic book continuation would have been really nice.- 17162 replies

Technically true, in the sense that Miss Sazabi is much less awesome than Sinanju. But I still prefer Miss Sazabi to regular Sazabi.

I wonder how much of that is just because Nightingale is just a crappy mobile suit to begin with? I mean, Sazabi was already too bulky for my tastes, and not good "bulky because I got a ton of weapons" like S Gundam or the GP02, no, Sazabi is "don't you think you've had enough donuts?" bulky. You get Sazabi fit, you get an awesome mobile suit like Sinanju. But if Sazabi keeps letting itself go, pretty soon it's so fat it can't walk anymore. Then you got Nightingale.

The teal is a little more vibrant than I remember, but looks like Trippy's going to be a straight-up reissue and not a weird brown/gold repaint.- 17162 replies

Yes, Adventure Time is great. Although I kind of prefer Regular Show. But anyways, I don't think it's that Animated wasn't given a chance... three seasons was actually a pretty decent run. And I don't think it was a lack of interest, or people not buying the toys, that ultimately killed it. In fact, as I recall, the debut at least was wildly successful. Plain and simple, it came down to Hasbro killing the Transformers show that was on the network they didn't have a stake in and starting over with a new show on the network that they did have a stake in. Fortunately, that show (Prime) turned out pretty good, too.- 17162 replies

While I agree with VHD that the toys did capture the aesthetics of the show, to me that just didn't make for satisfying toys. I loved the show and collected all the DVDs, I only bought a handful of the toys, and all the ones I do have are packed away.- 17162 replies

Well, Gundam Planet responded promptly, so I guess that puts them one up on GG Infinite. I guess their distribute told them they'd get some in May, but then changed it to June, so I have to wait a few more weeks. Of course, now I'm imagining that Gundam Planet's distribute is David's guy, and the reason Gundam Planet (and I) didn't get one in May is because he sent them to David and Hikuro instead...

Thanks for the offer, buddy. I sent them a quick email. Honestly, I hope they can fulfill it soon; canceling seems like a hassle, since they charge a cancellation fee. Not to mention they charge your credit card when you order, so I've already paid off the balance and don't really want a credit on the card, and I rarely use that one. I'll keep you posted.

Bandai seems hardcore back into HG, with the whole Revive thing. Guncannon and (I think) Gundam are already out, Freedom is next, and they already announced the AEUG Gundam Mk-II after that. You guys are lucky. My Gundam Planet order is still listed as "processing."
