If we want to get all technical with it, then we have to go beyond the common understanding of the term 'Destroyer' as small naval escort/surface combatant. The term 'destroyer' was a contraction of the original term 'Torpedo Boat Destroyer'. These small ships were made to defend the big gun dreadnoughts from torpedo boats. If Torpedo Boat Destroyer = something meant to take out torpedo boats then Star Destroyer can mean something meant to take out Star Systems. Which is quite consistent with some SW literature which always describes the Star Destroyers as being meant to subdue entire systems on its own.

I always liked Pred 2. Its just Danny GLover which was too big a change from Arnie. AVP might have been more fun if it was 1 lone predator vs some aliens playing hide and seek in a city. Then throw in a SWAT team and some heavy weapon toting gang members as the humans unwittingly caught up. Gives good excuse to showcase the latest firearms, from P90 to .50 Sniper rifles to army surplus miniguns etc etc.

Don't like that 23 mode too. Intakes look ugly and the sticking out burner cans spoil the looks. The original YF-23 was close to perfection.

They are still not allowing AMRAAMs to be physically brought over to the SEA theatre so an RSAF F-15 in Air to Air mode would look funny with its load of pure Sidewinders! I wonder if the EF2000 was disqualified because they really couldn't meet the production schedules or other politics.

Look here, as long as the bits don't pop off or have other shoddy QC issues, I am PERFECTLY HAPPY with either the sleek one on the left or the phat one on the right. Its the thought of popping bits or inability to move the limbs which worry me. The shape looks good enough. Left one is sleek, right one has the heavy hitter look (just put in the TV hands, no prob even if not included, just steal from another 1/48) so I am happy either way. p.s. Anyone look at the pics and the name which comes to mind is 'Crusader' ?

The one on the left is better looking but its not fair to compare a painted one with an unpainted sculpt. And as Mr March said, one is a transformable toy the other is a model. Just include the TV hands and Yamato will be ok. I have already written off the posability of the toy, don't think its possible without bending the laws of physics!

Plus with the Jedi supposedly wiped out and the Imperial Fleet/Army in his command, Palps doesn't really need a faster/more agile/better physically apprentice to do lightsabre duels. He just needs a menacing half machine Sith to inspire fear.

Just curious, for all of you who enjoyed it. Can you understand cantonese/mandarin? Aside from the action, most of the jokes seem quite dependent on the language and knowledge of popular wuxia culture. E.g. the names of the fat lady and husband, the titles of the manuals at the end of the show etc.

The Terminator from Terminator. The Predator from Predator. Lo Pan (whose name means Boss in Cantonese) takes the cake for cheesy fun.

Yes, the small wheels really spoil the vehicle mode. I have the same preference for accurate vehicle mode for any transforming toy (which is why the Yamato 1/48 VF-1 is so cool IMHO). The Binaltechs must be your favourite transformers then? Problem is that their 'robot' mode is gawdawful...just look at them from the back! Ughhhh...

As the other guy already said, if we have all these overtechnology that makes ass kicking 50 foot mechs possible, these same technologies would make an armoured flying vehicle an even more effective and practical weapons platform. Flying anti grav box moves like an aircraft, hovers like a heli, armoured more efficiently then a humanoid shape etc etc. Just doesn't have hands and the cool factor.
