  1. Not sure if you read this in the enemy mecha thread but do you know if Yamato is aware of the significant 'other market' out there if they release either the Glaug or the Tomahawk (and to a lesser extent the Defender and other destroids). I am talking about the rather large Battletech community who really love these 'lostmechs' over all the current stuff. Even Japan has quite a big Battletech community who might otherwise not be Macross fans. And the Glaug and Tomahawk are easily the mechs most identified with Battletech for the old timers. I mean, they can't sell direct to the US or Europe, but those fans will definitely help their local wholesale buyers clear stock fast.
  2. Yup I love Macross because the transformation is 'real' as in that the 3D geometry really works in real life (just the dimensions, the actual tech is nuts). Transformers...I hate it when people lump the transformation of Transformers in the same category as Macross mecha. Most transformers compared to the beautific VF-1 is just a brick with a bus painted on one side and a robot painted on the other. Transform? Just flip the damn thing. Crap, I could design a hundred different transformers using that kinda standards. No offence to TF fans, you have your reasons, but to me they just aren't even within 10 leagues of Macross most of the time.
  3. You mean something like a 'CYCLOPS CROSS-DIMENSIONAL RADAR'?
  4. I hate Toynami but to be fair, if they make a 1/55 Beta with about the same standard of looks as the Alpha as we have seen, asking $120 isn't that much if you take Yamato's Q-Rau pricing into consideration.
  5. RHTT, you're absolutely right...Battletech fans would indeed snap them up. I've read somewhere that some Battletech tournament games are played with large scale models instead of the tine 1/280 scale miniatures. Armorcast makes the MadCat, Vulture, and Atlas in 1/60 scale...a Glaug would be a perfect fit. Dude, where can I get the Atlas? Can you gimme a link? The Atlas is the ONLY Fasa self designed non-copied-from-the-Japanese mech which I like.
  6. That makes sense from the American perspective, since we grew up on Robotech and love SDF Macross. But the Regult barely appears in DYRL (I don't think we see the Glaug at all--anyone know?), while the Q-Rau and N-Ger figure prominently. And DYRL seems to get the love in Japan. I understand, thats why I think Graham should tell Yamato about the huge International Battletech market they have untapped with the Glaug. MAKE THE GAWDAMN GLAUG!!! Heck, Battletech is quite big in Japan as well. The could also sell boatloads to Japanese non-Macross fans who play Battletech. GLAUG GLAUG GLAUG!!!!
  7. http://homepage.broba.ws/pre-tora/page204.html Not sure if these have been posted. Are they out?
  8. IIRC, Kawamori himself OK'd the 1/48 sculpt so the 'long' laser barrel is probably correct on the Yamato.
  9. With the 1/48 Yamato 1A, you only need to move the laser 30 degrees or so down and the landing gear will clear it. With the laser 30 deg down, the laser tip still doesnt scratch the floor when the craft is rolling on all wheels. So I guess thats how it should work in a real life situation.
  10. Its easy enough to carry 70000 people in a ship 1200m long. But its not possible to have the open spaces (parks, hospitals, stadium, hotels, shopping mall, movie studio, quiet living neighbourhoods and a FREAKIN MILITARY BASE that we see in the TV series) in a 1200 x 400 x 400 (approx) box even if the box is pure internal space and nothing else. Note that in the TV series, they are arranged in a typical town layout without houses stacked on top of one another. Its just artistic licence. I just imagine the Macross to be 5km long in my own internal universe.
  11. Graham! Please tell Yamato that if they made a Glaug, they hit _2 markets in one_. Not only will they sell boatloads to Macrossfans, old school Battletech fans would snap them up too. C'mon man its a freaking MAD-3R Marauder! Who wants the butt ugly Daishi, Nova Cat etc etc....
  12. How about the lesson of advancing your tactics with technological changes or the one about relying on 'proven' methods often results in unnecessary death on the battlefield. Whether he's right or wrong, imode is the one who's actually applying history to this discussion. Just saying something happened in the past is meaningless. Don't site an example of something that happened nearly half a century ago and say that it's going to happen again and expect to be taken seriously. Gotta agree on this. Just because guns were essential on fighters for the last 50 years doesn't mean it will be essential indefinitely. I don't know the answer for sure but I think its wrong to apply such general simplistic rules or keep pointing to the vietnam experience. Its like back in the 20s/30s when the admirals were saying the big naval rifle mated to the armoured battleship was essential and them newfangled flying things are unreliable and that the navu should concentrate on building battleships because you can't trust these unreliable flying things who have not proven themselves well enough.
  13. ROFLMAO!!! What did they do to my most beautific and sexiest Miria's butt?!?!?!?!?! DAAAAMMMMMNN YOU YAMATO!!!!! I HATE YOU!!!! THE SCULPTOR NEEDS TO COMMIT HARI_KIRI!!!!
  14. I am new here (kange on the old macrossworld boards, just re-registered after long absence). 1 x 1/60 Brown 1 x 1/60 Max Super 1 x 1/48 Hikaru A 1 x 1/48 Max A 1 x 1/60 D 1 x 1/72 VF-19 1 x 1/72 VF-19 FP
  15. I really think 120usd is way too expensive. It might not seem that much when compared to the 1/48 VF-1, but thats because the 1/48 VF is already really pricy. Seriously, 120?? (ignore the other yamato toys and out of production vintages) for a mass produced plastic toy is steep. Not saying that people are dumb if they buy it, but for guys like me with limited funds, its really out of reasonable reach. Just like a Ferrari or Porsche, nice. But average joe here can't afford it. Bummer.
