  1. Okay, I've been skimming through this thread... A few of questions: 1) If you buy the bundle version (that comes with the VF-1J), you mean to tell me that they packed in an old VF-1J with non-smooth pins that make the shoulders break? 2) What versions of the standalone VF-1J have the fixed pins? What versions do not? 3) With the bundled version, is the VF-1J in the box as the fighter mode? Or battroid? I'm sure these answers are buried in this forum, but some quick answers to my three questions in this thread would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Well, for the fact that we're living in a world where the average person thinks Transformers 2 is a great movie, and Avatar is the film of a lifetime, what do you expect? This new Conan movie is aimed at the same type of people who watch Jersey Shore.
  3. Can someone tell me, other than the colors, what's the difference between the TV and the DYRL version is?
  4. That launching missile version is wack. Looks like plastic cotton balls with cigarettes pointing out. It doesn't look good at all.
  5. Keep them. How can someone complain that they take too much room? I mean, where else you gonna get a valk, that looks that good, in that size?
  6. You know, sometimes when you're excited about posting something, you just do it. Not everybody has all the time in the world to do a forum search (to make sure something hasn't been posted yet). Anyways, it's new to me. I frequent this forum a lot, but not enough to know about every single little thread. Give the guy a break. Anyways, it's pretty cool. Fine wood work, but a little too stiff-looking for my taste.
  7. dreamweaver13: Great write up. The only thing I dislike about the later episodes is the crappy, rushed artwork. lol other than that, I liked the aftermath episodes. It's amazing how many times I have revisited/renewed my appreciation for all things Macross. It just never leaves my system. And yes, mecha/fighting/action aside, what stands out for me the most is the drama/love triangle bit of it. There's not another anime/movie/tv show that has made more of an impression on me than this series.
  8. Eh? That thing looks weathered and clean at the same time. Doesn't make any sense.
  9. Very cool! Cheers. Something tells me of that Robotech movie ever gets made, might look more like this than the usual VF. =) Good work!
  10. McG! lol If this is a good movie, then Christian Bale was in charge of directing. =) First one will always be the best.
  11. Cyclone Trooper... great write up. I totally understand. I, too, like the beefy look. That's what always attracted me to Japanese big-ass robots/mechs to begin with... their chunky-bad-assiness! I don't buy any valk post-SDFM/DYRL for the insect-looking reasons alone. They're the most perfect mech designs EVER. It's only a matter of time before upcoming fighters in Macross look like this:
  12. Great job! Dig the missile effect. =)
  13. Still worth it!! I think i'd rather pay $600 for a weathered valk though. =)
  14. Since we're discussing price here... I can't believe people are complaining about it so much. I mean, trust me, I'm living paycheck to paycheck (adobo once a week), but I will not eat out for a few months knowing this sucker is gonna be in my collection one day. Just think: it's the Matchbox version on crack!!! (only this one will break if you decide to hold it the way those white kids hold it in the commercial)... I know this isn't the Mospeada thread, but there was hardly anyone bitchin about the price of a half-assed looking cloth-Ride Armor, minus a crotch; How are those $250? Yet they still managed to use bakla-plastic pieces for the engine? Yeah, yeah, mechanics/engineering and all that, whatever, they already have all the other toys to work with - just perfecting it more. (when it all comes down to it, I'm just jealous I don't own one) Then - and I'm sorry I can't stop bitchin about this - we have the weathered valks. Get all that limited-number, Japan-only, blah blah blah out of here! It's the same toy, but with a rushed weathering job that doesn't look all that, especially compared to what the customizers could do. Yeah, of course, not all of us have the artistic ability to do that stuff - but to pay for a valk with a paint job - that's the equivalent of a 1-day/1-Peso paint job in the Philippines? (again, I'm just jealous I don't own one) VEGAS VALK, I'm gonna get that SDF-1 and bring it over your house. It'll be my SDF-1 vs. your 200 valks....I bet I'll get laid more than you when the ladies see how big my weapon is, compared to you. When it all comes down to, we are all puppets of the Japanese toy companies. Those guys are laughing all the way to the nearest Street Fighter IV machine.
  15. 1/48 weathered valk for $500.00 = Not worth it! Big ass SDF-1 for $500.00 = TOTALLY WORTH IT! Hey VEGAS: Nobody forced you to buy every single 1/48 that ever existed!!! (Even though there is some truth to what I said, I'm joking. I'm just jealous because I wish I had your collection lol)
  16. 2 feet of plastic? Hmmmm so it should be the price of two 1/48's.... right? =) I didn't realize that Yamato had a plant in MANILA.
  17. Cent: Thanks for the info, man. That’s what I was looking for. 200-700.... man... you know, if they’re smart, and know Macross collectors are not the richest guys, they’ll make it no more than $250-300. Looks good. Glad to see they’re coming out with a good sized SDF. anime52k8: No, not new here. Been here for a few years. I just don’t visit as much as everyone does -- but I do visit at least once a month. Just not very active. I’m a selfish little prick who gets the info, then runs... nothing wrong with that, right? VFTF1: Don’t give Toynami any ideas.
  18. Judging from your campy signature, I can't tell if you're BSing me or not.
  19. 600!!! WOW! How tall is this thing in VOLTRON mode (hehe)! Inches if possible. I'm one of those dumb filipinos who thinks a scale is one of those things you stand on after eating adobo. Thanks, man! 600.... crap. That's a chunk. That's Peter North chunk. EDIT: Wait, that was a joke, wasn't it? I just realized the thread said Yamato.
  20. Okay, maybe I've been scrolling/skimming way toooo fast, but can someone update me on WTF this is? I know, it's the SDF... But, what company is making it? When is it coming out? And what is the speculation on the pricing. Now, this, I'd pay for $300 for. Totally bad ass. Thanks in advance!!!
  21. Looking forward to it. Seems like a pretty cool toy, judging from the forum info/pics so far.
  22. Thank you. Someone needs to get all the head shots of ALL the ride armors, size them the same, and put them next to each other. That would be interesting.
