Does that mean CONVERTORS were legit?

Your collection brings back 1980's memories. I can just picture myself at the Cerritos mall circa 1985-86, in a toy store (KB's?), waiting for my mom to return, HOPING she's going to buy me the $40+ toy I have in my hand...
  3. Vepariga/Lott Sheen: Good to hear. =) I've had many obsessions in my life, two of them being Macross and Hong Kong film (mostly old school stuff: shaws, early Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Golden Harvest, old school John Woo/CYF, etc. etc. etc)... Sigh... the good ol' age of HK cinema is dead though. Miss those old "lucky stars" films. They just don't make 'em like they used to. This Tony Jaa/Chocolate/etc stuff is impressive, but that certain magic that carried the 70's/80's flicks no longer exists... 36th Chamber is classic. Fantasy Mission Force is cinema at its finest. No match for the Bruce Li stuff tho...
  4. I just see them everywhere... international sites, U.S. sites... and none are sold out. And people are buying them like they're dougnuts. I bet the invid are cuming...
  5. Why do I have a feeling that the so-called limited production amount of 2000 is B.S.?
  6. One last rant: I have about 8 Yamato valks in my closet, and even those don't add up to $2K. In fact, doesn't even come close. Yeah, I know, the design/engineering is what I'm paying for.. blah blah blah... you mean to tell me that a few of these cost as much as a new car? I just saw the youtube transformation... I say this puppy is worth about $500 the most (and that should be a for a version already assembled and painted). But then again, I'm just super pissed I don't own, nor can I afford one! =) p.s. what's with the guy in the video? I understand the white latex gloves, but it looks like he's wearing a full doctor's uniform as well! lol
  7. Totally agree. I think it was cool back in the day. Compared to today's 'standard', the thing seems very Fisher Pricey. Give me a Yamato about the size of a 1/48 Valk and I'm happy.
  8. Sp why does it say prototype on the box? Edit: Forget it...it says "prototype replica kit"...........
  9. "Back of the box. Front of the box. Side of the box. Other side of the box." LOL! Took so long to load, I had to get something to eat, then come back 30 min. later. Looks pretty cool. But for the price, that thing better be put together, painted 'n weathered and have no knurled pins! =) It's only a matter of time before they make a smaller scale version available to people who don't have $2K to spend on a toy. I know, I know... prototype, but still. * Re-reviewing it, it kind of looks like it has some kind of weathering effect on certain parts of the plastic, or is that what appears on that type of plastic?
  10. Gotcha. Understandable. Those are going to be some greasy regults by the time they're done eating and drinking sake. Man, those 1/100 Toynami's look sooooo cheap. haha I think those old 'Convertors' look better than those.
  11. Wow! How many of those did you buy? lol The people in this forum trip me out.... some of you buy Yamato's by the case, or 2 or 3 of each. Where in the world do you guys get the $$ for this stuff. =) Trust me, I'm jealous.
  12. The last 3 months I bought 7 valks.... lol! Feels good to have them, tho!
  13. Those 'skulls' are what got my attention about Macross. =)
  14. Ditto. I haven't taken mine out of the box, but visually, really impressive (especially for a Toynami product). I almost want to buy another... but I think I'll wait for the heavy artillery since it's practically the same thing. =) I would pay $50 for a 1/60 version easy. BTW, AcroRay, nice find. =)
  15. One guy claimed to get a set with good pins. I forget what thread it was in. But then again, I'm not sure if he pulled them out to fully check. Would be nice. Still waiting for my pre-order to arrive myself.
  16. I was browsing amazon.com to see what would come up under Macross books and got these two bizarre titles: Book #1 Book #2 If you click on the covers, you'll see that the words Macross, etc. are printed on them, yet the photos on the book covers don't even go with the suspected content. Anyone own or know about these? Is it nothing but gathered up wikipedia articles in book form?
  17. This is still isn't the final product. I'm hoping there will be some detail tampo. I haven't really looked into it, but how is the tampo printing on the fire valk? (or whatever that red thing is called?)
  18. Cool. Thanks. Looks good! Is the different size rods a result of mixing and matching? Sorry, I've never owned any kinds of stands before. I do know the at the clunky Yamato ones are FUGLY. But these are nice.
  19. Does anyone know if these stands work good with something like the elint seeker? For V2's, what size works the best in your guys' opinion? Thank you.
  20. I couldn't even get through Indie 4. After they walk through that Graveyard and kung fu zombies (or whatever they were) started popping out, I tuned out. Spielberg is one heck of a director, but Indie 4 felt forced.
  21. Nice. Thank you. Obviously modeled after Toynami's Superposeable line.
  22. BTW, do you have a picture of the packaging? Like, does it actually say MACROSS on it?
