Just watched it. Apart from multi-colored explosions, i thought it was pretty good. The morse-code mono-eye was abit weird as well. I don't get it....why do they have to use "light-code" sometimes (due to minovsky particles) and sometimes they can just talk directly over radio transmission? Zakus pwning EF ships was really great to watch.

I beleave thats the Studio Half-Eye 1/100 Resin Model kit. Hmm... I starting to think its not the SHE kit. It looks like the Wave YF-21 battroid kit... Its hard to tell from this angle. wolfx, where did you get that picture from? Got any more? I'm pretty sure its the Wave kit. If it was a SHE kit, it should have screws left and right on it. I don't really know what star convoy is but its transformation looks almost exactly like the Power Master Optimus Prime ...and i forgot his Japanese name, but it wasn't Convoy. (hence he wasn't included in the History of Convoy section of the MP-01 Convoy)

I loved this series. The space battles are awesome and the tactics involved are kinda suspenseful. Very nicely thought out. I haven't seen Legend of Galactic Heroes (LOGH) but people compared BOTS to be a less serious LOGH but with most of the essentials in. And in contrast with Effect's view, i actually liked the story that revolves around the "bad guys". The Abh are a galactic empire taking over worlds, in a bid to unite the galaxy under the banner of peace. Of course the humans don't like this since they are humans and don't like being ruled over so there are some "rebels" who hate the Abh. The Abh apparently have a vague concept of love, kindness and other emotions. I can't really remmeber but i think logic rules them more than sentiment making them the perfect space-faring race although they do experience love like a human. And i don't think humans are treated like trash in BOTS. Humans under the Abh rule are like any other respected imperial citizen. Civilised peace loving hippies. People opposed to the Abh rule are the rebels/terrorists.

Regretable that the shield has to go under the elbow for the Freedom CR. Doesn't allow for some better poses since its tucked under the elbow. Anyway I already got the MG kit...so i won't be getting another Freedom anytime soon. The GM and ver. Ka RX79 looks great though! No gouf pictures yet?

But keep in mind, the Gunbuster has what may just be THE most implausible transformation in the history of anime. And this guy's making it work!! SHE stuff always costs you an arm and a leg and maybe a kidney too anyway. I think the Getter Robos were more implausible than the Gunbuster...and SHE actually managed to do those quite well.

Reika is an acceptable translation for the same Kanji, and is accurate to series pronounciation. The english translation on the Japanese site is irrelavent. IIRC, Mahou even has a page explaining their choice of translation for that name. Essentially, they're using the Japanese pronounciation for the kanji, while "Lihua" is the Chinese pronounciation. Oh ok then...thanks.

Man...i won't come up with episode critiques as detailed as all of yours but...i think i am annoyed that I felt no real attachment to any of the gundams in this series. THere were alot of nice designs i thought...and none of them showed up enough. IE: The Chaos although the most common of the 3 stolen gundams to have screen time don't even use its weapons pods much. It just flies around trying to hit Shinn or Kira without much avail. Abyss....shoots its beams and torpedoes never hitting the minerva...gaia...well...i don't remmeber much...the zakus are victim to recycled animation, and so is the Saviour which pretty much became scrap metal after less than 10 episodes of its introduction. Gouf ignited...pffft...enuff said. Destroy Gundam...gone within 1 and 1/4 of and episode. So the only mecha that got good screen time was the Freedom and Impulse. There are new ones coming out down the line, and i doubt we'll see much of them either before they get pwned.

Aone subs for this series are more accurate in terms of names (Mahou translated Lihua into Reika) but i got annoyed at the usual conversations for aone's subs as it loses the literal meaning to translate it into something more American. Anyway.... although pacing is slow due to character development, i hope Aquarion picks up soon. Sirius seems to be the future badguy/traitor by the end of this. And about names, it seems the main characters are named after constellations/stars. And there's alot of Zen buddhism/hinduism terms being thrown about...more than i care to do research on.

Really liking where this series is headed....aside from the overly cliched clandestine organisation bent on taking over the world with nirvash and some hidden agenda goin on.....i won't be surprised if the Nirvash Zero is a key to the apocalypse or something by the end of this series. Poor Renton, being turned into Tolha's personal toyboy.
