Aoshima Variable 1/48 Legioss for 2007
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Save's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I call it bull$#!+. RT.com has always been Toynami's zealot. It's not surprising they put the blame on Aoshima. I'd like to see George Sohn stating publicly that the Legioss flop was all Aoshima's fault. I think it's pretty evident that Toynami had it's hands full with the Aoshima deal and they decided to just cut corners wherever possible. If the production was in charge of Aoshima, how come Toynami has delayed all it's upcoming products then? All they'd had to do is hand the molds over to Aoshima and let them do all the hard work. We have seen before how Toynami is unable to handle more than two lines at a time. Not that Aoshima is blameless, mind you, but they do have a better reputation than Toynami. I wonder how they plan to recover it, by the way -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I'd love to see a Battroid whose wings won't restrict the movement of the legs. I hate having to pose my VF-1's with the upper leg cracked at the intake hinge. It looks fugly IMHO. -
Aoshima Variable 1/48 Legioss for 2007
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Save's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I remember some reports of the biceps being assembled backwards on the Toynamis. Maybe that's your case. If not you can still do as most people did and tear the biceps apart with an exacto knife. Apparently Toynami used a cheap a$$ glue to put the whole thing together so it snaps off very easily, and judging from the reports, I doubt the glue used on the Aoshimas is any better. It's not like you can screw it up, because your average superglue should be harder than the s#it they used anyway. -
Yamato GN-U Non-transforming Macross Action Figures
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Toys
First post on this thread: I too can't see the point in non transformig toys of transforming mecha, but I'm still in the fence for more pics. Too bad about the 21's feet. This isn't anime accurate at all. Yamato seems to have some serious issues about the 21's legs: Either they are too skinny or too fat! I hope we see lots of Regults and some DYRL and TV Q-Raus. And for God's sake, somebody give us some destroids already! It's been like what, 20 years since the last destroid toy? Jeez! -
Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Eugimon is right about the fact that we don't know enough about Yamato's structure to say how much they should charge for their products, this has been said in these forums a thousand times, but if you think about it, we do have enough information about the toy market to realize when a company is overpricing their products: we are collectors. Most of us have collected a wide variety of toys from different companies for years and we can compare factors like price, durability, engineering, number of parts, size of the company, etc. That said, I think it's obvious that Yamato is overpricing their Valks, and they will keep pushing their prices up until the market (that's us) establishes the limit. Not to jump over the next preorder could be a good consumer's policy. You can always get the Valk of your dreams later on and even at a better price, if you have a little patience. As much as I love the YF-21 (to get back on topic), I'm not preordering a 200+ toy I know nothing about (QC, etc). I've only done that with the Roy 0s and now I regret not having waited for the second edition. -
CM's Corporation Legioss/TREAD.
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Roger's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Depending on my finances and the release date I might get the blue one. I'm sure this is not the last Legioss/TREAD combo we'll be seeing, so I'm not selling out the house to get these. When will some other company be making a better set? I guess that depends on how well this one sells, but I say let's go easy on these. Edit: Speling -
First episodes are always a challenge because there's just so much story elements you have to leave established if you want your audience to come back for the next episode. The character's personality I think it's the most important of all and the most difficult too. As a Macross fan I gave Shin a second and a third chances, but I just couldn't sympathize with him. I feel the same towards Alpo (or whatever you spell it). All the director could tell us about him is that he hates living in Frontier because the service ceiling is barely 2000 Ft. Too vague for a main character on such a critical episode IMHO.

CM's Corporation Legioss/TREAD.
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Roger's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Agreed. As much as I want a linkup myself, the Legioss is too small for 150 and the Beta is nowhere near as complex as the 1/48's are and those are way cheaper. Let alone the poor design we've seen so far. I was so disappointed at Toynami's Alpha and then Aoshima's Legioss that I was willing to overlook the many flaws on this release, but this is getting ridiculous. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Wow! I was so busy moving and then the holidays, and now I come back and find out about a whole new PT VF-1 line. I didn't supported those who demanded for a new 1/60 VF-1 line, because I knew that if Yamato did a good job on those I'd have to buy the whole line. I don't own a VF-1 line, just a couple of Valks from various manufacturers, but I always wanted a perfect transformation Elint and Super Ostrich, so I'm afraid I'll have to add these to my already long wish list. The good news is that I don't own any of the previous 1/60 VF-1's, so it's not like I'm buying the same toy again. I have a question for Graham tho': Since Yamato has already designed the two seaters and they will focus on the DYRL versions (as always), and given that the VF-1D has a different canopy from the Super and Elint, does that mean we won't see that one on this line also? Or will Yamato just repaint a DYRL two seater as a VF-1D down the road? I'm asking this because I've always had a soft spot for the 1D. -
The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's a good tip. So far the only parts that we have asked from them were the Garland shoulders. I may as well try my luck and ask them for a couple of ratcheted feet for my 1st edition Scopedog- 1057 replies

Let him be. What else do you want us to talk about? More rant about why Yamato keeps hiding those High Res pics from us? This is getting boring. -
Rob Liefeld vs The Bible
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I just can't get over of how amateur those designs look like. He says he's been working on this project for years yet that Hanna-Barbera like space ark is the best he could come up with. You gotta give the man credit tho': Rob Liefeld must be the most over rated artist in the history of comics. -
CM's Corporation Legioss/TREAD.
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Roger's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
No, they're made from hard plastic, but apparently they molded them in the wrong color, so they're painted gray which creates a whole new set of problems. -

Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Roger's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Maybe this opens the possibility that another US toy company gives us the Alpha/Beta combo, or even that Toynami starts another toy from scrap and in a smaller scale. I've never bought Toynami's statement that they made the Alpha with the Beta in mind the whole time. That linkup would've been an expensive mess anyway. -

It is. Great old school european science fiction -
I used to do that too, but I'm afraid I'll end up forgetting which accessories belong to which toy.

I don't own any Ingrams yet, so this will have to be my first. I was happy about the opening leg holster gimmick, except that apparently Kaiyodo doesn't make gimmicks for the Revoltech line, but rather "posing features". I think I'll just play with it with the holster closed and leave all the extra handguns and hands in the box
-
What I'd love to see are some Orbital Frames from Zone Of The Enders in the Revoltech line.
-
Hmm, the movie Ingram comes with three revolvers: One for handheld poses, one with the ammo housing opened up and one with an adapter for posing it with the leg holster opened. That's too many accessories for my taste. I was hoping the gun could be stored inside the leg holster, but it also seems like the holster can't house the gun when closed:

What bothers me the most is that bike mode drags everything. I hope they at least lift the rear shock. The headlights could've been a bit closer together if only they would've eliminated the green plastic bit between them.

Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
No, no, Graham. I'm sorry, but Yamato screw it up big time this time and nothing you may say will make me change my mind Seriously now: I so wish we had at least one bottom pic right now. -
Knight Rider the Movie (and Series)
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Pff! Another gas guzzler. Shouldn't KITT go with the times and be a hybrid or something? I realize a Toyota Prius is not as exciting as a Mustang, but he's supposed to be the most advanced car in the world and nowadays that means renewable energy sources AND Horsepower. -

Besides the SV-51 stand is a cheapo one made mostly to help sell the product IMHO. I doubt it's worth selling it separately. As for the Fold Booster, the mags said that the 21 includes Fold Booster attachments, but they say nothing about the actual FB. I think the shoulders hide inside the intakes in Fighter mode. Looking at some of the pics it seems like the bottom of the intakes are opening panels that weren't closed properly. Maybe I'm wrong but that's the way I'll do it if I was the designer of the toy. -
Yamato 1/60 YF-21 News & Pics
Lonely Soldier Boy replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I photoshopped the image to make it look sharper and brighter. I wish I could do something about the resolution. First the TV ad with its crappy resolution and now those tiny mag scans, this YF-21 hunt is killing me. I've never suffered this much with any other toy.
