  1. But whose to say Kaji isn't the reincarnated spirit of Rasputin??
  2. I only have to wonder what the rest of the transformers fanbase has to say about....this. All I can contribute is: "TF Modern art? NO!"
  3. America (several branches), China, Russia, and I believe some countries in Europe (Germany, home of SEELE?) were all the locations where the MP series were constructed. IIRC, The massive fanfic Eva-R dealt with their pilot being trained on Unit MP06 in France. I once wrote a fanfiction depicting a half-mechanical (moreso than normal) eva unit constructed by Russia, using a sort of control frame similar to G-Gundam, rather than the handles used by the rest of the series. It was shorter and heavier than the "standard" evas, but ran off an Air-independent engine rather than a connection plug and batteries. Was treated with distain by the other pilots, and Ritsuko called it an abomination (this coming from the woman who practically lives with the nightmarish normal evas). The fic was called "Critical Mass", once upon a time. Long since taken down though. Good luck in your efforts
  4. I wonder if new mecha will show up during the second run (Trident, JA', Eva04?)
  5. According to the PS2 Eva game, Kaworu was (or would have been) the designated pilot of Unit04. There are screenies out there of him wielding that gigantic dual saw...
  6. I must be one of the few who likes the new takes on the Evas. Not saying that they replace the origionals, but for the new animation I think the new look on the Evas is good.
  7. Wiki (For whatever it's worth) says the Triton is in "Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Elizabeth River ghost fleet, Portsmouth, VA". Looks like the hull is pre-albacore, at least from my judgement. The sail is too far forward to be a foxtrot, also. Since all of the old-style hull (American) SSNs have already been retired or scrapped (Save the Nautilus), it might either be forign or a new design. Maybe it's a Seawolf/Virginia?
  8. Yesssss..... I wonder how hard it'll be to aquire the set on DVD, though?
  9. When I can get around to devoting some attention span, I can draw up some rough sketches of the other side But basicly it looks OK so far... kinda wish something could be done about the extended command module, but that's how I drew it and it would be hypocritical of me to critique my own design
  10. I know the mission you were both referring to and this isn't it. Apparently, the story goes is that you play as a group of Terran mercinaries sent to infiltrate a space station. Your ghost dowloads a number of items from the base... including shields for Terran vehicles or somesuch. If I knew where to go I'd happily provide the link. Apparently it was a mission for the console version of Starcraft.
  11. Well, most of the character cast was cut down on in BW. All that's left pretty much is Raynor, Zeratul, Artanis, Kerrigan, and Duran (somewhere), and Mengsk too, I guess. There was also some additional mission in the console version of Starcraft, IIRC, which had some pretty strange stuff in it. Talks about Terran/Protoss hybrid tech especially.
  12. I wonder if SC3 is going to reintroduce the concept of heroes this time around, or leave them out altogether. Looks cool otherwise.
  13. Wow. And here I had the worry that they'd pull a Galactica on the Evangelion units... Looks neat. The only differences I can see are that it's leaning forward more some and the green hip armor color. However, it looks as if the new Logos are real. Saw it mentioned on Wiki, then dissapeared... but it looks like it is really true. Thanks for posting!
  14. I don't know why, but I like the ambiguity of the TV series- it could go either way. EOE, rebuild, whatever- it's just open for one to think for himself (as Anno intended I suppose). BTW, I don't think Gainax is doing this. Didn't Anno open up a completely new studio just for Eva:Rebuild?
  15. Well her mom ignored her to paper some doll then committed suicide, the one guy she liked was too much of a wuss to like her back properly, and she didn't have that 'special connection' shinji and Rei seemed to have between them. That's why Asuka's a 'raging batty' during the series- let alone the fact that she's only 16 and already with a sizeable ego. IIRC, the first movie will take place during "Rei" of the series... which, I wonder, if it will focus on new characters and events in the background of the angel attack on the city or something. There is talk of a new character, and supposedly the NERV and SEELE logos are being retouched (a half-eaten apple and an apple with a serpant, respectively) depending on which revision of the Wikipedia article on it you see, anyway.
  16. And allow me to say that, if Asuka shouldn't be there, neather should Kaworu. He doesn't even appear until the last episodes of the series. Unless he has some importance to the events before Asuka's arrival?
  17. But it's not like they're sucessively reviving Evangelion in animation form every 3-5 years. It's been ten years since EOE, and nothing animated has come out about Evangelion. Best I've heard of is the NGE game for the PS2- but that's not exactly the same. And to do a Gundam would constitute an entire series to follow up the origional. We're only hearing about four movies.
  18. I've heard about the translations and tried tracking them down (from their wiki source), but got an error... they're gone. A shame too, since naturally books have more in them than anime (despite the quality of the OAV...) And gee, mechanical file 2 dissapeared pretty quickly Ah well, I might grab the Ban-go next time since I'm a fan of that ship, also. Anyone have any problems with the bends and how to fix them? FPA carriers are notorious for this. I've tried microwaving one for like 30 seconds to get it to bend right, then submerged them in water only to not have it work really... they bend back into their warped way after a few hours.
  19. Kamijn- I'm one of the supporters of the origional ending. I've never seen EoE (other than clips of Asuka fighting), and never really want to. Every re-watch of the ending brings new interpretations. I'd want to see more Eva, mostly because it is a thought-provoking anime. Not many anime that I know of nowadays really is, at least in the sense of Evangelion (maybe Lain, but it doesn't have giant robots). 'Sides, I'd like to see more of the characters again and have their story expanded. What fan wouldn't? But I feel removing Asuka is like having The origional Star Trek without McCoy. Like ST, Eva has the essential three of the pilots and the interaction between them. Without Asuka's impulsiveness we're left with Shinji's moodyness and Rei's reflective introspection. Leave the series kinda quiet and slow... was that way at least until Asuka showed up in the series. And even after Asuka had her brain zapped, she was important to Shinji, 'specially in EoE, if what I've read is true anyway. As much of a batty as she is, she's important to Eva. *shrugs* maybe her absince is indicative that something important happens to her.
  20. My first thought was that they're going to give the minor characters bigger roles in Rebuild. Maybe Eva 03 won't be posessed and Touji will be a pilot? I'd miss Asuka, if she vanished from the rebuild... but then it might be interesting to see what Shinji does without her... or knew that she was there but ends up missing her when she isn't...*shrugs*
  21. Same here. Some episodes just load really slowly. Of couse, if they managed to release it only subtitled, we wouldn't have this problem... Now I'm curious as to how and where one can find fan translations of the novels. Apparently many more vessels are named in the books, but not named in the feature. I suppose that's expected when one does a book->movie translation (lotr...) but even so, LoGH the anime doesn't dissapoint. I wonder where I can find the side-stories. Some weird ships come from there...
  22. Makes me want to try any of the subsims out there! A pity the modern ones are kinda old though... most newer sims have a WWII setting... That said, didn't a few come with voice activated commands or something? Anyone try that?
  23. Yeah, but maybe someday I'd like every single ship in LoGH (I guess I'm that big of a fan), and having those freighters would be nice in case for some reason I wanted to make some dioramas... or just compare sizes. And I wish I could just order at whim, but I'm a college student and there's only so far I can be an impulsive spender
  24. I've flirted with sub sims in the past... I gotta admit Jane's 668(i) (I think it was) difficult and frustrating. Trying to figure things out and juggle ship ops with no clear tutorial was not fun. FC and Harpoon looked interesting because they were fleet command systems. Never had any experience with that kind of thing before... at least in the sense of a real sim, and not an RTS *coughhomeworldcough*. They looked fun, and I want to try them. That said, I also like ship simulations. I feel there aren't enough of them (Just submarine sims). The most fun experience I've had in this genre is the Starfleet Command (1, 2, Orion Pirates) series of games. Even though they're set in space, they still have 2d movement and are more or less based more on navy manuvers than what comes out of the silver screen. The interface was simple, and I didn't always have to worry about power or going through the motions of preparing every little thing for something to work (as, seemingly, in 688.)
  25. Uh, I got assort 6... for the Kulishuna. A shame that huge ship only got like one scene before it blew up. Kinda like most of the characters/ships in the series... they're named, then they blow up. No better example than the Kulishuna/Appleton. Eventually when I get the funds I want to get another set... I don't know why I'm so exited over a box of figs, but I love 'em. And I figure since we can't buy the series legit, I'll support the makers by buying import merchandise... A shame to say that it seems HLJ is out of stock on fleet file #1 (No. 2 is out though, with some new ships). This is kinda bad for Brunhild fans, since the box set with the brunhild in it (Assort 1), is out of stock... and it also means I can't get a hold of the freighters and transport ships to support my growing navy But again I wish I could order ships individually... as it is I'd like to try to freeze one of the FPA battleships in clear resin and stick on my desk.
