1. makes me wonder what a sidestory series placed in the TOS era would look like. There aren't that many series placed around the TOS time- just a lot of stuff happing around the TNG time.
2. Not really. It's more like product advertizing. If you translate the characters, it comes out to reading something like ESBELBIEN, which is the makers of the Battlepod.
3. This also means Olsen from Orguss is dead
4. So wait... the Zentreadi have glow-in-the-dark-paint-logo markings? Other than this, FINALLY. And best of all, they fly in squadrons
5. Always wondered what became of that Megaroad model you had Lestat... Still waiting. Anyone seriously wanting my attention can throw darts (or messages) on my Deviantart profile...
6. Not sure if it's legal or not or how they came by it, but I spotted both versions of the SDF-1 under aliases on this one site Apparently they got the names of the starship trooper vessels right, but I didn't know the SDF-1 was the "independance"
7. Lately there hasn't been much entertaining Science fiction on TV for me to pick up and watch anything. The new Galactica feels more like a teenage sci-fi violence fantasy than anything science fiction- to say nothing of the story and neglegance of it's own canon and established themes. Last Sci-fi anything I've watched was the last season of Enterprise, and for the pure reason that it focused more on story and the mythos of trek than trying to sneak in flesh shots of T'pol to an excessive degree... There was good storytelling here and I thought the relationship between T'pol and Tucker was going somewhere until Bragga stuck his ugly head in for the last episode. Some 'gift for the fans.' Solaris was good because it was a human drama, and ultimately what science fiction should be: How the human being reacts to unusual surroundings. What makes humans human? How do we react in enviroments outside our control? great films like 2001 paint this pretty well, and I think it's a good angle for science fiction flicks. Space is an unknown and should be treated as an unknown, not necissarily just a canvas for the latest special effects. never got around to seeing Serenity / Firefly, mostly because I've lost interest in anything american entertainment can come up with. Might give it a try someday. I'll have to keep my eye out for the fountain though.
8. Well maybe I might have been confusing myself... but still, there are differnet colored ships in the Melt Navy that differ from the all-knowing purple. And I suppose all of us will be playing with the iconography overlays to find out which ships are ours... I mean, if I'm Zjent against another Zjent... edit: Somehow I missed two pages... Yeah Chthonic- that's the pic I know of. And what's the reason that you're so desperate to talk to me? (intercepted PM via Relicnews) For the unknown, my name is "Norsehound" there.... as it is for many other places on the internet.
9. I wish it were possible to do the random coloring for ships in the Melt fleet! I haven't seen DYRL, but I DO remember scene captures from the movie of the Melt fleet... IIRC there are orange, silver, and pink vessels among the Melt fleet during their action in DYRL? ...shame we can't replicate that randomness here.
10. Considering the Compendium says that it's specific inspiration was the sea dart, I'm inclined to think it's more sea-dart like than anything from the failed Air Cavalry knights.
11. http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/aircaval...eiran-99kou.htm Correct link to find the S-99Kou
12. The VF-5, 6, and 7 were all low-cost transformable craft that were built for the average colony in mind as a cheap defense force. The VF-5 is based on the sea dart, and is meant to land on water bodies in fighter mode. My question is were they even penned at all by Kawamori or just given designations/descriptions. Where did they 'come from' anyway? Where were they mentioned (outside the compendium)?
13. Can it come apart or is that only the special edition?
14. Well, just because I can, I'm gonna wave this fan-made Zjent frigate in front of everyone; When I first presented it the team liked it, brightened it up and reposted. She's supposed to be stronger than a picket but smaller than the destroyers... a light destroyer if it was possible. Then again if we go with what Nanashi says, she'll never fly. In fact, I don't think my talents would be useful at all if we're adopting ships from outside DYRL (VF-4, resourcers). It was once considered that a Protoculture force could be used, and I can see where my tallents would be applied there, but otherwise there is no pressing need for new things that I can think of (aside from the harvester fleets).
15. I will let my work speak for itself. Though I doubt anyone would want to hire me for commercial work.
16. Chthonic -there are already a number of designs posted in the concept thread if you wish to start rendering them. The heavy atmopsheric craft is there, as well as the coined "Laundry ship", which Nanashi would probably have to interpret (it's a hanger lineart craft). I have also re-posted my first design of the mining pod for the Zjents, though it's a piloted one and not automatic. I'll see what I can do about digging up and polishing old works. I also have an idea for the VF-4A head (I'm not sure how much of the VF-4 design should be changed....)

Vf-5

Is the VF-5 going into the mod?
18. The VF-4 would have been an awesome fighter if it weren't for that stupid head. I'll see if I can squeeze in some new heads. How many variants? (A is a go, how many more?) Also noticed the Tuliqui-Sovis is still on the shiplist (Fanmade Zjent Frigate). Should I dig this one up and do orthos on it also?
19. Nah, not smaller, just less powerful. Besides, if you consider the reguld verses the glaug, there's not much of a difference in size. Aside from that, money does not exist to the Zent/Melt. What is produced is produced. So long as the factory works, its all good. 392576 Cheaper doesn't have to be just money. It could mean parts, material, and time.
20. I always assumed the Nna was smaller than the Rau, as I held the Nna as being (to put it loosely) the regult of the Meltlandi forces. It's smaller, faster, and cheaper, and brighter colored
21. The 3-D cell shaded "SD gundam force" was for children, which says much if you're an uber fan of the series (other than the Zako hour- everyone loved that). and is it me or does every other alternate universe contiuity have to name it's Gundams? Can't we just re-introduce the title mobile suit as just "The Gundam" with a new model name? or is that sacreligeious?
22. Sorry man- Gundam is just not done with aliens and things that are far beyond the realm of scientific possibility. As Aliens are not a proven fact, they don't exist in Gundam. Mobile suits are about as close to disbeleif as you're gonna get. Besides, as everyone says, Gundam is a war drama of man versus man. In some of the AU stories, it's implied mankind has left the solar system, but in the end no extraterrestrials were involved... and instead it's more of a war between the inhabitants of space and the inhabitants of earth. Still, yeah, we do have plenty of room to go other places. If we want to go far out there, what about a story of mobile suit conflict on another planet, be it in the solar system or not? A martian civil war perhaps- where midway through the series the Jupiter energy fleet shows up and drops some new enemy action on our protagonists. Or how about an OAV series (possibly UC), set inside one space colony? Think 8th team in space- except the dangers are far worse since space is not a friendly place without a helmet. And then again, ther'es always For the Barrel
23. And nobody ever bothered to pick it up again? I mean, what's so different about Orguss that makes anyone not want to try again? It's close to Macross, yet refreshingly different with a facinating story. I mean, D-weapon! But as I am drifting horribly off topic, I'll cease my tangent here : x
24. For the Barrel was a basic retelling of the GUndam series, only instead of Gundams, they were called 'Gunboys'. MAHQ for Mecha 'Newtypes' were called 'Streamers' and colonies were called 'barrels' (Hence, For the Barrel). It was run by Newtype for a time but then disconitnued, a shame since it seems much more interesting than any other rendition of the Gundam series. Perhaps it's because Junji Ohkubo does the mecha designs (as opposed to more re-copied Okawara designs), which gives the series an origional, metallic, functional feel to it. Needless to say, if For the Barrel was done as an animated production rather than a manga, I'd pick it up in a hearbeat reguardless if I had to import it or not. Ohkubo's designs deserve life outside of Steel Battalion. 388894 Thanks for the pointers 390233 I thought that Op was saying "For the Barel power armors", so I felt I had to clarify. And I'm one of the few people who will champion this nearly invisible series. Like Orguss, which also has very few fans. I think one of the trademarks about Gundam is keeping away from alien invasions and doing something earth-bound, as in by the actions of human beings. I know with G-Gundam this is a little stretched, but even with series like Gundam X and Turn-A, which implies humankind leaving the solar system (Turn-X was built outside of the solar system), aliens were never mentioned.
