How long since you've paid for it? Have you contacted NY before about your order and did they respond? If you have done that and they haven't answered back, just file the claim for non-shipment or goods not received. Don't overthink the process.

Would you prefer it in a bigger box with the extra padding but a higher shipping charge? The increase in price can be substantial and that's the trade off. I think the boxes they use are good enough to withstand dings unless something really heavy lands on it.

Amiami uses bigger and somewhat heavier/thicker boxes, and packs a lot of paper inside thus bringing up the cost of shipping. They pack securely but not efficiently.

I don't know. I'm not entirely sure but there are probably 2 or 3 incidents mentioned here and some reviews read about them. I feel it got blown out of proportion because of that and people seem to be either cautious or irrationally paranoid about it. It's nowhere near Nippon Yassan that's for sure.
