I think we were focused on the US state tax displayed on the actual page rather than the actual amount being charged. We can clearly see from @treatment's attempt with the Dancouga that the listed price for the item only went down by less than 1000 yen at check out without shipping when it should be at least down by 4500 yen bringing it to 40K something yen without shipping. He mistook the displayed price as it not having the Japan consumption tax when in fact it does and only gets deducted when checking out. The state tax is built in to the final item price. Well, so much for that. I bet though it won't stop people from preordering Macross stuff from Amazon Japan. Rule of law with Bandai pre-order madness nights: Get it wherever you can.

There's invoice and invoice 1. The last image is invoice. Invoice 1 shows the complete breakdown. Right now, it's anybody's guess on what happened. We'll just have to be on the lookout as @Slave IVsaid.

Probably a mistake then or something inconsistent as was mentioned. It's not gonna show up on unshipped preorders though because they don't have the invoice 1 (final invoice) yet. That invoice generates only for something that has shipped.

If you're in a state that does charge online sales tax, do you mind checking the invoice 1 on the desktop site for your most recent order? I believe that's where it can be found.

How recent was your last shipped order from AJ? Do you have anything coming in before Focker next month? I'd agree that it shouldn't apply to items ordered before an official announcement but it happened to the pre-ordered items mentioned. Wait and see.

It is anything above $800 for import tax. Either way, we'll find out and hopefully it's just a mistake.

Could it be a mistake on Amazon Japan's part then that tax was charged? I clicked on the "learn more" link below the quoted amount and there is a disclosure that imports going to the US may have local taxes applied.

The amount will change on the final invoice once it's ready to ship. Some reports have come in from other forums with the recently released Sentinel Final Dancouga. Now, it may be AJ's mistake but we'll see.

Aw crap. I wish I started with metal robot spirits because their Seed/Destiny lineup is progressing much more than their stupid metal build. They're stuck with repaints and Strike attachments. -
If it does happen, we don't know yet. Pretty much that's the only mech on the Metal Structure so far. Even with that, Bandai is nickel and diming it already. Its essential and defining weaponry was sold separately for an additional $250.

Pretty much what @Slave IVsaid. The DX stands for deluxe per Bandai's terminology. I'm assuming anything with a DX is their top line. DX SOC for the old super robots and DX chogokin for Macross. I'm seeing the HMR as the lower tier Macross. But who knows? Bandai might release that 1/35 prototype and designate it to another much more "deluxe" line. $500 minimum VF-1's without missiles and fast packs anybody?

As far as Bandai goes, their DX Chogokin is the premium line when it comes to Chogokin. So, I'm not sure what else there is left unless they make a metal structure VF but I see that as a statue with features rather than a figure.

Are you talking about the super valk VF-1S giftset from Takatoku? It doesn't have a heat shield. It only has the clear canopy. I'm thinking if you found one with a heat shield, it may have been a frankensteined giftset. The 1/55 valk only release has that heat shield.

@BluefinBrands any chance the new Wings of light for the soul blue Strike Freedom and/or the Soul Red Destiny figure will make it here to the USA? Will the Full Cloth Crossbone MB be available here as well?

If you go further down that same page it's 19.8 K. Ask @Slave IV to verify his order. I remember looking at it and there wasn't any discount.

I don't but that data is not necessary for this. Everybody preordering wants at least one and that is a fact that doesn't need data. If a retailer gets allocated 7 units, would it be better to have two persons get the 3 units each want, one person one unit, and others nothing? Or would it be better for 7 people to get one each? This is from a perspective of community of collectors. You may not be suggesting that anybody goes without but not restricting the amount per person definitely helps in achieving that. It's easier work for a retailer to limit one per person from the beginning and open it up for more if there are extras than to have everybody place how many ever they want and then going in cancelling extras per account just to make sure it is distributed one unit per person.

I disagree. It's hard to get one as it is and we have a lot of members that are struggling with it. Bandai limits allocations to retailers and if your suggestion is to have an exclusive PO for the members here, having one per person is very fair. If your argument is to help out somebody, well, it's a PO catered to the members here, they might as well participate with the PO event and try their luck. If your aim is to have more than one then you should go somewhere else for the rest of what you want. Now, if there are extras after the allotted period for the PO, then I think it can be opened for people who want more than one (probably not really gonna happen).
