  1. That's probably the best version of the vf-4 I've seen yet (for gaming). And yes! A clam shell mollusk that actually OPENS! Sweet!
  2. Nice, are you working with AA or just based off his works? TriggerFish, Lionfish, ect... I have a few of arisul's meshes as well as AA's first "batch". Thanks to a mutual contact, I salvaged most of them from a HD crash, but I haven't talked to AA in years. He ever get the Ikazuchi finished? It made me drool!
  3. @ Frothymug, yeah FS2 is the easiest game I've found to mod. On a good day I can get a viable Fighter mesh imported and running in about 20mins(or less). Renders are fine, but I'd rather see stuff blow up! Don't you agree? One of the intros I've VA'ed for, TBP: RELIC (EA Civil WAr) FSOpen New Trailer: Homage to 1&2 fan made mission as a cutscene with in-game resources. EPIC!
  4. Yeah digitally, I use a set of archaic programs: Truespace 3.2, Irfranview, 3dexploration 1.883, and various others... I'm a member of many game forums (where I first found out and got into modding). Over time I wanted to try to create something myself but then found out I have no talent or skill for it. Seriously, 3d programs are worse than greek to me! Aside from straight conversions I started doing in like 2003, around 2005 I experimented with a program called DOGA. DOGA is like a part library and you just put the pieces together. As a child I use to have a toy set called a "droid factory" and by assembling different parts you could make permutations of droids. Same thing... Like a Mr Potato head, but for spaceships! Then I figured if I could learn how to take just parts that inspired me off other models I could "kit-bash" my own just like DOGA. I just do this for my own enjoyment. Occasionally, people like what I come up with. Some of my latest bashes: Alien fighters 2 flavors StarWars parts that unintentionally turned out very StarFox-like My interpretation of SDF-3 SC-style, less boxy, more character... KA Style YAMATO, from SFC3 parts, still a WIP Lastly, EDF Avenger with EDF Andromeda above it (for scale), unarmed still WIP...
  5. Hehe. looks like it's hauling butt! WIP ARMD (interpritation): Kitbashed since I have no 3d skills. Deck is like 12polys from the hw1 model just for reference (new texture), will be replaced as well as later addition of bridge, back plate, rear thruster and misc extras... I wager I am 60% done... Model currently at 5k polys.

  7. Yes, but even if they turn out terrible, people will STILL want to eat them! You could also make frosting Valkyries launching, and assorted defense mecha.
  8. Ah, I didn't realize it was a direct inspiriation (from SC). I only saw it once and disavowed it. Anyway Number 1 is sexier, but Number 2 is more practical. Just make Number 1 match colorwise and we'll see.

  10. The opening movie is awesome (Go cuz!!!), but when it got to gmaeply why are the characters done so... Painfully? It was also as bad as flash? Why not go for something like Enix-style FF animation? I mean, they did everything else top notch, why slack off on the characters? No offense was intended.
  11. One question... IS she running to get finished dressing? Cause the dancer has stocking feet. You didn't put any visible shoes or BOOTS on her! To me it just looks odd. Oh and TY TY TY, for NOT making her need to sew an anti-gravity lift device in her bra to keep SC style tits up!
  12. To what are you referring. HW2 or the SINS mod? Since you joined yesterday I'll give you some information. Some mods take YEARS to get done. I really get a kick out of the audacity of some people to dictate their "expectations" on other people's work. I seriously hope you don't become one of these "people". Modders have a thing called Real Life. Aside from all the pitfalls and curves that throws at participants there are also times when staff come and go. Or even when critical slots are never filled. I definitely root for this mod and hope it continues to go as smoothly as it has (so far) for the Devs. However, like all mod teams, they work on THEIR time table and no one else's. -------- It's a good idea never to leak any expectations of time releases (like teasers, demos, or final releases) until you are actually at the cusp of it. Fans can get unruly and out of hand. It's rough sometimes dealing with "hecklers" and worse the types that walk in and start BS about C&D threats and what not. Most of the time however those are new people and not established Community members. So carry on guys! You've done quality work and we'll be waiting pateintly as always.

  14. To be fair, cockpit making has been a fairly restricted effort by people. (Scooby Doo for WC and the SW team for FOTG offhand). A generic Terran Cockpit had been made by Venom/Nico and refined by others for community use. Several of the HTL Terrans now use it or variants. There is more interest in making more, but not much as the peopel who can are basically busy doing other things as a priority. Usually every 1-2 months someoen comes by and bumps a thread about them and gets the run down. What do you mean by a number pad interface? That can be redone via key bindings in every incarnation of the game. I prefer my hat-switch and 8-Stick buttons. (logitech Wingman 3D) I intend to use the Bothec DYRL cockpit model for the VF-1's for all Macross-era aircraft. I'm keeping Destroids as NPC's so none is needed for those.
  15. No more... That policy changed about 4 months ago. "Good old Games" has the rights to sell it now, and they charge $6.00 for a direct DL Because we do not support piracy all DL links to any NON scp work, has been deleted. Only standalones work without retail FS2 installs: Wing Commander, B5, and the BTRL Total Conversions. Everything else needs the retail data you can only buy now. You have eyepoint HUD, cockpit view (If the model has one like most HTL user made or SCP ones now do), and the 3rd person outside cam (that you can zoom in out, and move around). So I guess that would be the "Chase" cam. The retail fighters do not have the cockpit view. They are slowly being replced with SCP media VP versions that are much more detailed on the ourtside as well. Like by a factor of 4-5...
  16. Trust me, if I could I would. But I never got into it, plus that community really seemed turned off by both a MC or RT mod. After a short tiem there I found nothing to keep my interest... At least with FS2 I can do a 5 min conversion and immediately see it in game. Like so: Thanks again to Shadow and Team, Uragas and NorthHamptons work fine. Just need the finished versions so I can make required custom glow ans shine maps... [Edit: Ignore the weapon, it is on repeatign beam form but is actually a Gundam primary turret shot, NOT a beam, I was just image testing it as a beam - like I do most weapons...)
  17. That's a visor? Oh ok, I was wondering why to me it looked like he was wearing oversized sunglasses. From that angle it's hard to make out th details. (least on my monitor). No offense intended, it's spectacular work! Does he take custom orders? (I bet he'd get a flock)...
  18. On doing some Macross research, I started getting sucked into these links to other fighter simm. Same pattern: Some displays an outstanding WIP that gets people excited Then disappears and that work is lost Usually means jumping through complicated loops to lean a new system and proprietary format... On other news, at least the last batch of models Shadow and friends allowed me to have DID convert and don't crash, just need to map them now and resize, My dream of making my own M7 version video is getting closer!   19. The f-14's they reskinned as various Macross planes (vf-1/vf-25's) are around 18,000 polys. So unless you hear otherwise shoot for that or lower.

Not arguing, but if you go to page 95, mine is the very first post on the page, and the two people that responded to my numerous questions contradict what they later told YOU. And no one publicly corrected them in the thread. That info you just posted was NOT in the thread between my post and yours... So did they PM'ed you privately? What kind of two faced crap is that? Not referring to you at all of course, I mean THEM. (this would not happen on many of the forums I am a member of, as we police our own, especially on false or unintentionally false information.) (I did skip about 20 pages I'll admit. Probably in the range that you read, but still...) Sounds like a community I don't even want to try to take part in now... Seriously, good luck with your efforts there AA! You know your fans support you no matter what directions you explore. I'm trying to sit down and force myself to learn how to mod those damn games...
  21. AA You've been holding out again.. (kidding!) Their forums (@ HAWX) are very slotted so everything about modding is in ONE thread (all 95 pages!) After getting "caught up" I asked some very detailed questions and it turns out this game for PC was a console port like an after thought. As a game it's ok (I tried teh demo). But they have this stupid this called "off mode" that makes the first mission totally unplayable, and after a keyboard reconfiguration, I finally started to do a decent showing on the second/last mission of the demo. Turns out they did make some tools (I managed to get planes OUT). But very few things about this game can actually be modded. You can't even add MORE planes, they have to REPLACE existing slots! I was initially excited about the possibility of adding suface naval or ground tank forces and that is impossible in this game. I immediately deleted the demo when I found that out. Pity, we really need something new that is modder friendly that doesn't LIMIT us...

  24. I'll nip this in the bud now, I create NOTHING. I am merely a converter, kitbasher, partial re-texturer, or voice actor. I don't make meshes or textures or code. I just feel privileged enough for people to let me ATTEMPT to use their works. Not everything I ask for use covnerts or gets in game... For example this is probably my best kitbash (no 3d skills) ever and was welcomed with open arms by the SFc3 community: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b321/Sta...areaglemkII.jpg I was honored to get the - Outalance Modding Group badge I always try to stay true to the source but try to find new POV or aspects of older meshes. But now I'm going off on a tangent. We defiantly need more Macross F meshes! (tons of renders to be made!)... I found some f-14 SMS skins for HAWX (Crappy Demo BTW) but great fan works! They replaced the stock f-14's with 18k customs.
  25. Actually, since I like older games to me anything over 50k is pushing it... But do you really need that many if you're making a game version? (meaning multiple ships on screen?) or just the one unique unit? TSJ Amaterasu is only around 60k or 70k I think and can give most sci-fi meshes ships a run for their money IMHO. The textures were too noisey and because of thousands or millions of lights on it you couldn't even see a ship, just the overall shape/outline. I mean the original had a lot of work put into it , but it was too complex and you couldn't fully appreciate it. This re-texture at least tried not to drown out the actual detail covered by texture details... LESS IS MORE.
