The cannon on the starboard side of that VF-171 is probably a heavy quantum reaction cannon (like the VF-27's, except older). That gun is all they have left to punch through Vajra armor anyways. This will probably be the last time we'll see it in use since they'll probably adapt to it. I wonder if mounting that thing takes up the slot for ye-olde VF-17 super parts (which is why it's not mounted).

This thread is a bit more suited for 2nd season hopes. But right now, it really depends on Kawamori. It really depends if Kawamori wants to do a second season and he could close the book on this chapter of Macross or he could leave it open to come back to later (or a combination of the 2). Bandai could ask him for another series if disc sales hold up. Keep in mind a few things. Gundam 00 was always slated to be a 50-some episode series. They just split the series into 2 parts. Code Geass or Ghost in the Shell:SAC were show originally slated for 1 season, but received a second after success. This is why those shows had "R2" or "2nd Gig" added to the titles.

I'm sure the 1/72 model will be color-molded just like the Gundams. But like with any model, the best results will be after you put some love and detail into it. A straight build (no painting, or detailing) will not be as good as detailing it.

More like reading into it TOO MUCH. Fans want so much detail and pay attention to all the microscopic details that it ruins the story. It's at the point where it's not even funny anymore and well beyond stupid.

All they have is a script/screenplay-writer. They still need a director and producer to move this project in any direction (more importantly, a director). A movie can get a screenplay but sit in development hell for generations unless a director is hired. And even that's not a guarantee. So 2010 is a "best guess" estimate, provided they can find someone to helm this project by the end of the year.
