1. Screw all that noise, I'm getting this sucker now! We all wanted long enough for this, so I'm not going to wait any longer. I will sleep better at night knowing I have one in the display case. I won't have to worry if they are going to re-issue another one. You never know, Yamato's manufacturing plant can burn down tomorrow! Besides, if they do re-issue a better one, I'll just sell the old one and buy the new one. There will always be buyers out there who won't know the difference.
2. I am so biting your display method. hahaha. Very nicely done, I was thinking of displaying the fast pack like that, but never got around to it.
3. Ouch! Crashed and burned. And this is before any added weight of fast packs!?!?!
4. According to TayFare Magazine, price will be $25: Toynami • Naruto Nine Tailed Fox Statue (limited to 200), $125 • Macross 1/100 scale Valkyrie Fighter VF-1S Hikaru (limited to 1000), $25
5. Whoa, people better start buying them cuz it looks like they are going to fall over. Those shopping baskets on the right are going to be useless for yamato purchases. hahaha. I would need a full size shopping cart!
6. Thanks for the pics! It looks totally bad arse in fighter plane mode. I think everyone will keep it in this mode, especially to show off the sick pilot. But it looks Lame-O (with a captial O) in robot mode. Everytime I see it in robot mode, I crack up. It just looks weird for some reason. I can't put a finger on it, but it looks like a mess? Now I want to see the strike packs on the first Low Viz version.
7. Sweet, nice find. Let me know if you want to trade it for the game color version.
8. What are the odds of Yamato releasing the 1/48 Stealth Type fast packs with the strike cannon? I would like to put the Stealth colored fast packs on my low viz, but I don't want to buy the whole Stealth set for $200 just for the fast packs. I also want the strike cannon and I don't think anyone has verified that it will be included with the current Stealth/fast pack release. Should I just wait and see what happens? I think the chances should be good, since Yamato does show pictures of the Stealth with a strike cannon. Maybe I should just get a low viz strike fast pack custom made. Anyone out there doing customs?
9. I want to know why why Graham is member number 11. Shouldn't he be like member # 1 or 2 ???
10. Ouch!!, $25 for 6" figs. Nice box/package though (as usual from Toynami). Double Ouch!!!, $80 for a 12" man doll. Looks cool, but can't you get BBI or Dragon 12" figures for like $40? Macross item prices are just kicking me hard in my privates. Anyways, thanks for posting the news.
11. Go to BigBadToyStore (BBTS). I believe they are still taking preorders. Although the price is $165, it comes out to be the same price as TMP because you live in California. TMP price was $152, but if you add CA sales tax, it comes out to be about $165. BBTS doesn't charge tax, so it's the same price when you think about it. Just do it!
12. I believe BigBadToyStore (BBTS) is still taking preorders. They're probably going "what the fokker?" why are we getting so many preorders all of a sudden?!?! hahaha Damn, that's one purrrdy fokker.
13. Oh yeah! Looks sweet. How come there's "1/48" written in the sale sign, description thingy? Does it say something like this 1/60 VF-0S is about the the same size as the 1/48? Can anyone translate?
14. The white piece holds the hip joints and comes with the toy. The replacement screw is longer because the original screw is too short. The longer the screw, the more metal reinforcment you have.
15. I recently got a VF-11B off ebay with both hip joints broken. The previous owner stated that one hip joint was broken, so I guess the other hip joint broke during shipping! Anyways, it's a pretty easy fix. The hard part is finding the right size replacement screw. I lucked out and found the correct size screws in one of my gundam model kits. Maybe other board members can recommend where to get screws. Take the pieces apart, replace the "short original silver screw" with a "longer black replacement screw" (see picture), put it back together, and you're done. You will still see the cracks where it was broken, but once you transform it into fighter mode, the cracks will be hidden under the plane. Hope this helps and good luck.
16. Thanks everyone for their input. Here is the final summary. For why Yamato toys are getting so expensive, the reasons include lack of competition, dollar vs yen, high overseas shipping, middle man profit, yamato milking us dry, economics of scale, whatever 1/1 low viz wrote, high initial capital cost, high petroleum prices, and whatever 1/1 low viz wrote again. All these reasons are combined to create the "PERFECT STORM" high prices. Are they worth the price? According to everyone, whatever the price, they are still worth it, as long as the product is well made. And it is universally agreed upon that this is the most beautiful, best engineered, best looking hunk of plastic ever assembled. Although we will complain and whine about the high prices, people feel these things are just too cool to pass up. People will buy these no matter what the price. Even if the prices are sky high, they will still buy a least one. Price only becomes a concern when people are considering buying multiples of the same item. Or if you are Godzilla, price is nothing but a number.
17. The answer is "a - Huge, dedicated macross fan". Trust me, I do not feel any remorse when I look at my collection. I am very much satisfied and I enjoy collecting. I was just wondering why the prices keep going up and if everyone feels that they are still worth the high prices. I complain because I want them to be cheaper...so that I can buy more! At the rate the prices are going up, I will have to stop if it gets ridiculously high. That's pretty much what I'm saying, and I definitely do not regret anything that I have gotten (ok, except maybe the cms 3 flower girl).
18. Looks like this thread got hijaked into a scale discussion, haha. OK then, has anyone actually verified that the VF-0 will be bigger than the VF-1? Has the actual measurement of the toy been published yet? Right now, all I see are prototype pictures. No one has the actual toy to take measurements, right? Did Yamato send out the measuremets yet? I don't remember seeing any side by side comparsion shots with a 1/48 VF-1, so are we all sure it's going to be bigger? Are we just assuming the 1/60 VF-0 will be bigger based on line-art specs? Where did people get these line specs anyways, and how do we know these specs are accurate? It would be so funny if we all think we are getting a bigger product and it turns out to be as small as a 1/60 VF-1. Then, going back to this thread's original topic, the 1/60 VF-0 would be so not worth it!
19. Interesting point regarding competition. I can't remember, but did Yamato start producing and releasing more stuff once Toynami's materpiece collection started coming out? And did Yamato production start slowing down when they realize Toynami wasn't really good competition?
20. 'Jacking up the price' is a bit harsh word to say. No to imply that I am offended in any way but the middleman has to make money to run his/her business and operations. Some people have higher overheads vs others and therefore reflects in the final sale price of the item(s). -Kevin 359735 Has there been a big price difference over the year in what Yamato is charging retailers? For example, fast packs were like $45 a couple of years ago and now it going for $65. Is this because Yamato is charging more or are retailers making more profit?
21. yeah!!! love the display case.... where'd u get it?? and how much???? along w/ buying all these expensive toys.... finding a nice way to display also matters.... 359594 The display case cost about the same as a 1/48 valk! hahaha. See what I mean about the crazy prices. I got it off Craig's List from some surfer dude for $150. He was using it to display his surfing trophies. Guess he wasn't that good, cuz he only had 2 tropies in the entire case.
22. Recently, I told a friend that a single 1/48 valk was about $150 and he asked why a "toy" can be so expensive? I honestly couldn't answer him, other than saying, because they're SICKKK! I looked at my display case and realized that I must have spent well over $2,000 for all the Macross stuff (see picture). For that price, I could have bought more food, clothes, hookers, ipods, a psp, and a bunch of other stuff. Why are Yamato toys so expensive? With the average 1/48 valk selling for an average price of $150 now, are they really worth the price? I mean they're nice and everything, and I'm looking forward to the new releases, but are they $150 nice? I also collect action figures and spending $150 will get me a butt load of really cool figures! I can't think of any other transforming, giant robot type toys being so expensive. Masterpiece Prime Transformer went for around $90. I have some 12 inch gundams that cost me only $45 each. They are about the same size as the 1/48 valk, same amount of plastic (less diecast parts), and come with tons of accessories. Yet for $45, I can barely buy a Yamato display stand! Why the huge price difference? The plastic quality? The engineering and research? The quality control? The packaging? The demand? To me, the 1/48 should be $80 toys...$100 max. Are we just paying Yamato more because they can get away with it or can they actually justify the high prices? What price would enough be enough for you to stop buying? For me, if it goes beyond $175, I'm done.
23. Finally, MACROSS PLUS! I really like this figure. Paint job is clean, details are great, pose is cool, almost as tall as Roy. Only wish it came with a helmet.
24. Swapping heads. Misa, take a seat...I'm in charge now. haha.
