Strangely, these aren't so popular locally. I was approached at a forum by someone who wanted to sell Deunan at retail price, but I turned him down. Had too much on my plate at the time. Yeah, it's just wrong to be taking advantage of other people's passion for something. It's pretty galling sometimes when you see scalpers bringing their whole family (including the maid) to a convention just to grab as many exclusive HT figs as they can to sell them online at inflated prices. A common sight in Hong Kong.

I could kiss you, Mechaninac (if you looked like Taylor Swift, which I highly doubt, you being male and all ) Not sure if I'd dare risk getting this past customs, though. It's certainly "kosher" by even the most conservative standards, but that damn toy safety thing keeps hanging over the heads of us Malaysian collectors like a fricking Sword of Damocles. I usually tell HLJ to clearly state on the box and invoice that the item's a collectible for ages 15 and up. Hopefully this shop will oblige me as well. I guess it should be fine if I shipped via FedEx--as expensive as they are, they usually get my stuff past customs with no problems. The tax is brutal, but better safe than sorry. Anyways, is the site something like AmiAmi or HLJ (Caucasian-operated, based in Japan)? Shipping would be brutal if I had to ship this from the US.

I certainly hope so. I've been hoping for a second chance to nab a Super Ostrich for a while now, hopefully one with fixed shoulders. Preferabble in the middle of 2013, when my fig funds have recovered somewhat.

Very true. Even less popular figs like the Appleseed ones can be easily resold for the same price as retail. In fact, someone was willing to buy my Bat-pod at a 25% higher price than retail. I turned him down because it's hard to get another one at this time. I could have pre-ordered two or three, and made a quick profit from them. Sadly, my inner conscience would never allow me to make money off of scalping. I'm just too muc hof a nice guy for my own good.

I agree. While I find her suit somewhat lackluster, I was still okay with it. The armor dress, though, I absolutely abhor. In fact, one of the reasons I passed on the Fate/Zero figma was because her sword retained the same design and reminded me of the armor dress. Nah, nothing wrong with finding adult Nell hot. You're not a pedo bear unless you get the hots for kid Nell, so you're still safe.

Yeah, it's very possible, given how much the Iron Man old has been milked. Like I said, canceling my pre-order is not an option for me, so I'll just enjoy DX12 for what it is--a nice-looking statue.

I've only watched the anime up to season 3, but that bandaged transformation thing looks cool. I actually thought it was a different character. Still kicking myself for missing out on the Figma Rider fig--just wasn't into Fate Stay/Night and didn't like the Saber fig, so I figured just having Rider would look awkward in my display. Same story with Fate/Zero. Didn't watch the anime and wasn't into Saber's rather bland design. But when the bike (motored cuirassier) came out, I decided to pick her up so she could sit on it. By then the figure was already sold out. I hope Bandai would make its own version of Saber in her black suit in their Chogokin. If it's in scale enough with the Figma Cuirassier, I'll get her to ride it. I've only seen Nell as a child in the anime. Looking at her all grown up...feels kind of awkward.

You mean there's actual padding inside the suit that hinders the legs from lifting upwards? That's a stupid design if I ever saw one. And yeah, maybe I should have just ordered the Kotobukiya statue instead. The HT figure might as well be a statue given its limited articulation, except the Kotobukiya statue probably looks more dramatic.

Thanks again for the advice, Kylwell. In this case, some of those really old tee shirts I have should be just thin enough to still be somewhat gaze-like when folded into two layers. I just need to get the cloth slightly damp, right? Worried that getting the cloth too wet might cause water to get sucked into the fan.
-
Damn, I gotta get me a glue gun! These DIY effects just bring the whole figure to life!
-
That's an awesome looking trainer gun pod!

@ Kicker: Nice Bleach collection. I actually found the same Ichigo statue and that guy with the bandages at a DVD store, of all places. How's the quality? It wasn't very expensive (approx. 26 USD after conversion) so I might consider getting one or both of them. BTW, LOL at the bottom right corner of the pic! The way you set it up, it looks like Kon's peeking under Rider's from behind! And that blue-haired chick with the skull on her head...is that Nell all grown up?! Never imagined she'd be so...womanly.

I'm really starting to hate HT for this DX12 debacle. According to sideshowcollectors.com, the damn figure can't even sit properly on the bat-pod. The only Batman that can pull off a decent pose is the first TDK fig HT ever released. Here's hoping Catwoman can actually look decent riding the bat-pod. In all seriousness, I almost couldn't tell it it's an actual pic of Bale in the suit or a figure.

Thanks for the info, Kylwell. AC filters should be available at hardware stores, if I look for them hard enough. For the time being until I get those AC filters, I'll try out the cotton cloth trick. I know it;s a stupid question, but should I use a single layer of cloth or fold it into two layers? I'm asking because I'm not sure if a single layer is enough to prevent the paint from getting to the fan.

Thanks for all the advice, guys! My budget's a little tight right now, so I might have to forgo the expensive carbon filters until maybe later. I can't find furnace filters here in Malaysia, as it's a tropical country with no use for furnaces. I might be able to find the charcoal filters, though. For the time being, I'll have to make do with simply pinning or taping the curtains together, with only the rear of the booth exposed to the outside. Would that be sufficient? One more thing; while waiting for a reply yesterday, I stumbled on a tutorial at ehow.com that suggests using a damp cotton cloth as a filter. Someone even recommended using a a coffee filter as an alternative. They're cheap and easily available, but do they work? Obviously they won't be any good for filtering out fumes (although the damp cotton cloth technique supposedly does), but can they actually be used to keep the fan clean WITHOUT hampering the fan's suction? FYI, I use only acrylic paints (Tamiya, and Pylox spray cans), with surface primer being the only lacquer medium.

Nice. I was never really into statues, but if there's one I'd be interested in buying, this would be it.

Gave up waiting for fricking Tamiya to bring in the damn spray booth, and got one from a local hobby store at a fraction of the price. It's a Hakko 493 smoke absorber, and is supposed to be used to absorb toxic fumes from soldering. Thing is, I'm having a hard time finding replacement filters for this, as the hobby store doesn't sell it. I thought of using the filters for Tamiya's spray booths, but if the damn shop doesn't even have the spray booths available, I doubt they'll have the filters. Can anyone advice on what I can use for as a DIY filter for this thing? Sponges, insulating material, or even scotch brite scouring pads? The filter that came with the smoke absorber looks and feels like a black sponge or loofah, and feels stiff. The store owner said the filter can be reused if I spray mainly acrylic paints, which I do. Since acrylic paints are water-soluble, he said I could just wash the paint off and reuse the filter indefinitely. For lacquer or enamel paints, he suggested I wash it with the appropriate thinner for said paints. Should I call BS on this, or is this true? ACTUALLY, do I even need a functioning filter? I'm placing the spray booth in front of an open window, and any exhaust will be directed outdoors. Some of the DIY spray booths don't even have one.

Sadly, "CW isn't available at your location," according to the site. I'll see if I can watch it on youtube or something. Oh, and before you make any decisions on that Bat-pod, I should tell you that there are some QC issues with it. A few have reported misaligned front wheels and "crooked" back pedal rests. Personally, the tires on mine look nicely aligned, but the batpod doesn't sit perfectly level; it tilts a little to the left, but no more than a few degrees. Not sure it it's a defect or it it's just due to the fact that the tire is connected to the front axle on the left side. I don't know if leaving the plastic sheet on might have had something to do with it. At first I thought the back pedal rest on mine were misaligned, but after looking at some pics, it seems that's the way it's supposed to be.

Tears in Rain - Replicant Rip-off

In the same way Maketoy's Giant is in no way connected to the combining robot that either Hasbro or Takara created. -
Yeah, kind of going off-topic here. You got a good point. I guess it's not so much Katie that's the problem, but the script itself. I haven't watched Arrow (what is it? Movie? HBO series?) but after your recommendation, I intend to. It was during the park scene, where Bumblebee, still disguised as an old Camaro, pretends to malfunction and leave Sam and Mikaela stranded in front of a setting sun. She pops the hood and fiddles around with the engine in a very unconvincing way. But...back on topic. I just got the Bat-pod!!!! Beautiful representation of the actual bike in TDK. Silver drybrushing everywhere, even on the engine block under the hood. I really like the subtle post-shading on the guns and engine cover. Love the fact that the light switch is on the underside of the engine block. With the Tumbler, it was on the left side of the car, and from a sideways angle, the painted ON/OFF near the switch it makes it look like a toy. Can't wait to get DX12 Batman or Catwoman to ride it. QUESTION: You guys think I should try lubricating the tires on my Tumbler and Bat-pod with rubber lubricant? Both are being kept in an air-conditioned environment, which can be pretty drying due to the desiccants in the cool air. Thing is, all those stories about the batsuit reacting chemically with his figure torso got me scared. I've no idea what kind of rubber HT uses for the tires, and it might not be such a good idea to get any chemicals on it. Any advice?

Now that you mentioned it, it does seem pretty cruel to reject your childhood friend's affections on his birthday. Or maybe she was really disappointed with his apparent millionaire playboy antics at the hotel? They didn't exactly part on the best of terms--she dropped him off at Falcone's, after slapping him for what he intended to do at the courthouse. Whoa, I didn't about that geeky side of her. Either way, it doesn't really make a difference to her horrible acting in ROTF. Strangely, she didn't look so spaced out in TF1. She's pretty all right, but I'm not so sure on the part about the cars...or are we talking about her character in the TF movies?

GU-11 replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Fat chance of that happening, though. Bay's what Guido's call a good earner. As far as TF movies are concerned, he keeps productions under budget, and delivers on time to packed theaters. The only time we might see him go is when people finally tire of the franchise, and TF gets a few years of rest before receiving a reboot.- 950 replies

Walhberg? Depending on the role he plays, this could make an improvement to the TF4 movie.- 950 replies
