Congrats....what was your asking price?
-
That would be closer to the going market price.....for the -11B/C Yamato VF-11C.........38550 JPY https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w208693721 The last VF-11B was probably a result of a heated bidding war.....next VF-11B auction will either set the new market price or correct it to previous levels which were in the 30-35K range....

Used all my "rewards" last week when the news was leaked....it was funny because other than Christmas or Black Friday....I had not seen a TRU so packed in a while....lots of folks cashing in gift cards and rewards cash.... In the end we'll just have Amazon and Google......and they'll merge into the BnL Corporation....

The pics with the mecha pretty much ruled this thing out for me......especially for the HM-Rs.....guess we keep waiting for Bandai or someone else to come up with something good....maybe someone can convince KitzConcept to come out with one for that new 1/72 VF-1 line... Can't beat what you can do with a set of chain bases for mecha..... But honestly.....we just want someone to make this one at different scales...all painted and ready for display.....now that would be worth $70+++...
-
Only saw one config that looked ok enough for Macross..... at 70 a set....I'd need to be able to get at least three of them out of the box.....Chain bases are still the best for mecha.....ideally I would want a Macross specific hangar display....but I don't see getting an "official" Bandai HM-R release....

My only gripe would be the glossy armor....they did that with their SD offerings....makes them look more like toys and less like "adult collectibles".....which seeing that they are based on a 30+ year old cartoon....I'm guessing there will be no kids buying these... I think I'll be supporting KC for now....let's see where this goes.... It's good to see someone finally doing something decent with the Robotech license....

My vote would be for an HM-R Stampeed add-on set next....

yes....with all the final "tweaks" last made under the Yamato brand....

Some Macross DX VF-1 collectors have stuggled with this very line of thinking for at least 3-4 times since the original 1/55 back in 1983.....most have just come to their senses and realized that something better will always come at some point in the future...... We are a little past due for a DX VF-1 update.......use your "quiet time" to decide to either get out of the Macross collecting game or start saving money for what is surely to come.....

Most impressive! Not a big fan of the Thunder Hammer, but will encourage greater things via a purchase or two (is the the plan to make this available for purchase?)....it should fit the original Hi-Metal VF-1J too right?

Sometimes taking risks pays off....hopefully the cel is not stuck or it will not damage the sketch if removed....the seller brought down the price too so that's a good thing.....good luck

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/j476283208 It is a beautiful illustration....the only other "officially" published example of it comes from the Macross Gold Book.... As you can see, it is drastically different...even though the main focal point, the Super O, is essentially the same. Several theories were bounced around...perhaps the Gold Book one is the "rough" sketch and the one sold via YJA is the final drawing....but why use the rough one on the Gold Book? And why has this pic not appeared anywhere else?....I do not collect the doujins of the SDFM/DYRL era, so I am wondering if the "cleaner" illustration may have appeared in one of them....any doujin collectors out there that can check their books? The other thing about the illustration is the lack of any signature...usually Kawamori signs his work, like his lineart. Or perhaps this one is actually drawn by Miyatake? The illustration is very similar to his Destroid and Mecha illustrations....very "clean" and "mechanically-realistic" in execution...also there are some examples of VF-1's drawn by Miyatake to add to the posssibilty of this being a Miyatake illustration.....however, I believe he too signs his work. The seller does not give any indication of knowing anything about the VT-1 illustration, where he got it from or who the illustrator is. There was no way to be certain as to the legitamacy of the illustration....even so, it is awesome nonetheless! Any of the other Macross cel and original art collectors here have any further insights into this illustration? And no, I did not win it, I would have liked to but not at the final price with too much uncertainty....this one got to stay in Japan I believe.....
