Thank you for missing my point
Vostok 7
you say that now
-
And they seem to be doing something about it, considering there seems to be less and less breakage as its going on (going from TONS of breaks on the -1S to ONE for each subsequent release is a pretty good ratio from what I can see).
Deeming the whole V2 1/60 line "not worth buying" just because a few have broken is EXTREMELY short sighted considering were just at the very infancy of the line itself. That's like writing off all SV-51s simply because a few Ivanovs had floppy wings.
Vostok 7
Sorry, floppy wings are not broken shoulders. The wing maybe loose but it's not broken. All of I've seen from this new line of 1/60s is broken shoulders and DIY fixes that the dopes at Yamato should have done in the first place. Screw that. I'll spend my entertainment dollar elsewhere.

I can't wait for the USS George "Dubaya" Bush.
Ya it can say this on the side:
"They misunderestimated me."
-
Ugh that's it. I've been going back and forth deciding if I should buy at least one of the new 1/60s VF-1s...Don't need another DIY VF-1. Forget it. Not worth it.

We need a ship named after Clinton...clothing optional

bandit29's probably gonna throw something out the window when he hears this...
haha ya I have this...kill me.
Coheed and Cambria's version of the Trooper is almost as brutal lol music isn't bad but...
There's a few good covers on that Maiden Heaven CD. Metallica "Remember Tomorrow", Machine Head "Hallowed Be Thy Name, Dream Theater "To Tame a Land" and Black Tide "Prowler" are probably the best.

Well we knew this was coming..
Warner Home Video has announced that they will bring 'Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology' to Blu-ray on March 10th. This box set will feature the four Batman feature films made between 1989-1997 - 'Batman', 'Batman Returns', 'Batman Forever', and 'Batman & Robin' - in 1.85:1 1080p VC-1 accompanied by 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks. This five-disc set (one of the films will come a two-disc set, while the others will only be one BD-50) features the following special features:
* 18 Hours of Must See Profiles, Documentaries, and Making-of Featurettes
* Director's Commentary by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher
* 9 Music Videos

One of these films will be worth it, one might be worth it and the other two, no matter what definition they are, will still be terrible..lol

Too bad about EGM..one of the few magazines I read..I'm a current subscriber too..long time reader ..
Not only is the magazine gone but now the same people who (more or less) worked for EGM at 1up.com have been fired too..terrible

Wait a minute - why settle with just 10 albums when you can have all of your albums on one MP3 player?
umm maybe the MP3 player we get stuck with on the island is only half a GB or less lol
My top ten albums that I'd have to have on the desert island
1. Iron Maiden - Live After Death
2. Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
3. Machine Head - Burn My Eyes
4. Metallica - Master of Puppets
5. Lamb of god - Ashes of the Wake
6. Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine
7. Slayer - Reign in Blood
8. AC/DC - Back in Black
9. Children of Bodom - Hate Crew Deathroll
10. Gojira - The Way of All Flesh

I had this model back in the 80s...done terribly of course lol. the box has a Big West sticker on it..I guess they never went after HG for that..
-
So, does anyone still care about this series? Despite all the backlash and low ratings, NBC still continues to keep the show afloat. This month, the new season kicks off with three key characters being killed off. Yawn.
This show is awful. Now there's going to be an evil transformer or some arch rival in the series..ugh
A preview was shown during the NFL playoff games on Saturday.

For what it's worth, I was about to shell out for a full-fledged home theater pc when I came across this:
You just connect any usb hard drive to this thing, and it can spit video out over an hdmi cable in 1080p. It does read subtitles from mkv containers, but it isn't as nicely formatted as MPC can give you and it's kind of hit and miss with some codecs (particuarly DTS encoded sound ... hoping the next patch fixes that) ... still, for $99 I'd recommend it to anyone.
Anyway, anyone looking to save yourself a LOT of trouble re-encoding these things just to watch them on your TV might want to give this a look.
Ah so this does play MKVs. I was wondering when I saw this earlier. I'm kind of tired of converting videos all the time for the PS3. Does it show the stylized subtitles (that are usually in fansubs) or just plain white text?
anyone that needs help converting
http://animeted.wordpress.com/2008/07/03/h...itles-embedded/
I've been converting to M2TS files with hard subs for use on the PS3.
-
ya the jp DVD and blu-ray both have English subs. So I'm sure the all torrents would have them.
-
That cover from Children of Bodom is so awful. Their version of "Talk Dirty to Me" is nails on a chalkboard too. Both of those are on the JP version of "Are You Dead Yet?
COB do a version of "Aces High" and "Shot in the Dark"..that aren't good either lol
Good band otherwise. They put on a good live show.

Started watching the remastered version of Vision of Escaflowne. I haven't watched this series in years and these new fan subs by Grey Phantom look great. Boxtorrents has them if you want a quick(lots of seeds) 8gb download..took less than 24hrs on DSL.
-
ya there's also a DVD ISO out about 6GBs..took a few days..then I burned it to a DVD
-
Someone else already mentioned it, but often "special editions" like this are test runs. It is entirely possible that Oshii is working on a movie that will use a lot of the programs and/or techniques they used for the redone footage here.
Ya you are probably right but the new intro with the Major looks so cheap. Reminds me of the CG from early PS2 games..I wouldn't want to see a whole movie like that..
-
Just watched it.. thought it was ok. The added CG kind of sticks out but I've seen this movie many times over the years. The new soundtrack mix is done well.
But why? Whats the point? I don't think fans were sitting around thinking " Yeah this movie would be better if it looked more like Innocence"
Maybe Oshii should redo Innocence to look more like the first GITS movie..
or should start work on the next GITS movie..one that has the Major in it for more than 10 minutes and in her normal body..

Started watching some of Hokuto No Ken Raoh Gaiden: Ten no Hao. Not bad..I still don't get why the Japanese love Raoh so much.

To anyone: avoid the "massive" Blu-ray "sale" at Bestbuy.com. What a rip off. All the movies are their normal prices(or higher) and they jacked up the MSRP to show the "savings"

I didn't even know they were considering a live action movie and Keanu Reeves...lol
DYRL- Blu Ray format
in Movies and TV Series
Posted
Since BW doesn't care about fans outside of Japan, I doubt they'd do anything. They won't spend alot of money properly restoring DYRL? They don't have to. It would probably just be shovelware if they did release it. "Macross otaku will buy anything" is their thought process.
I dunno if I'd buy yet another copy of DYRL?...Old anime on Blu-ray has yet to wow me. The current DVD of DYRL? is a little over a year old, we probably won't see a Blu-ray for awhile or maybe never.
