Do I really need the HDMI cable to get the best graphics out of the console and the games? It's damn expensive just for a cable. Do you guys think it will drop in price later on?
monoprice.com for cheap but good quality HDMI cables

I find it hard to believe that people are stunned that this is a bit of a disappointment. Most overcooked albums do disappoint, especially when they take THIS long to produce.
I wonder what it was that got him to finally release this? Record company pressure, thumbscrews?
Taksraven
I wouldn't say I'm stunned that's it disappointing or mediocre ..most of GNR music is mediocre. Its just that after all this time you'd think it would be better than just mediocre. Not perfect 10's or anything but better than the generic piece of crap that Chinese Democracy is.
True that nothing ever lives up to the hype. Well The Dark Knight was damn close
Why it was released? Who knows. Money of course is one. Maybe Axl wanted new GNR songs in Guitar Hero or Rockband lol

http://kotaku.com/5101163/king-of-fighters...ster+in+waiting
To refresh: Gordon Chan is directing a King of Fighters movie. Previously, details were scant, but today, details on the flick have surfaced. We wish they'd remained scant.Seems filming has already begun in Canada, and the movie will star Maggie Q, Sean Faris, Will Yun Lee and Darth Maul himself, Ray Park. Those guys all have movie martial arts experience, that's the good news.
The bad news is this:
It also looks like the King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe by following the surviving members of three legendary fighting clans who are continually whisked away to other dimensions by an evil power. As the fighters enter each new world they battle that universe’s native defenders, while the force that brought them seeks to find a way to invade and infect our world.
why? movies like this are all terrible

i've downloaded raw rip like, a month ago and found english soft subs for it @ Macrosshare.
converted whole movie for psp
looks great
ya I did that with my R2 DVD. Made one M2TS file for the PS3 and one to watch on the ipod touch.
might check out this iso.
I can shrink the ISO with DVDShrink, correct? I don't have dual layer burner. I know there will probably be loss in quality but I do have the original remastered DVDs so its not that big a deal to me.

Gojira - The Way of All Flesh..totally kills.
GNR Chinese Democracy...meh 15 years for this? Some of its very dated, some of it sounds new, Axl's screeeeeching has become worse..I'm glad I didn't pay for it..

Consider my interest piqued. So how does one convert an MKV file to M2TS so that I may watch Macross Frontier on my PS3.?
Try xvid4psp (it does more than the psp) and this tutorial. You'll need to download the latest CCCP pack (if you don't have it).
http://animeted.wordpress.com/2008/07/03/h...itles-embedded/
You could also try mkv2vob. This program is less trial & error. Subtitles won't look the same. They will be generic white.

Lamb of god - "laid to rest"

honestly...what did you expect? i don't think any anime on iTunes is subtitled or in dual language with soft subs.

Simple logic. Sure I don't have any numbers, but logically if you're not selling, then you don't need to restock. A limited inventory can service a theoretically unlimited customer base.
In simple terms, if you buy a DVD for $15, and charge everyone a dollar to rent it (which is about the cost if you have the 1-at-a-time, unlimited per month plan), then you're going to make money the sixteenth time it's rented. If you buy a Blu-ray for $30, it's going to take twice as many rentals, but the 31st person would still be profit. And if you have a large pool of customers, the cost can be offset by buying fewer Blu-rays. Two DVDs would take as long as one Blu-ray to make money. And I either Netflix does stock fewer Blu-rays or the demand for Blu-rays exceeds DVDs, because new release movies are quickly available on DVD, while the waiting list for new releases on Blu-ray is often weeks.
Now, we could debate Netlfix's model by figuring the average cost of a Netflix subscription, the average number Blu-rays that person would watch in a month, the cost of that many movies plus postage against the the cost of the subscriptions, and try to estimate how many people would have to watch each movie before Netflix would recover the cost. And again, while I do concede that Blu-rays cost more than DVDs, I only concede that the number of people who have to rent it before Netflix makes money on it is a higher number than the number of people who would have to watch a DVD. As long as enough people rent the movie, though, and I suspect they have more than enough people ready to rent the movie, it still becomes profit.
Look, at the end of the day, Netflix is a business. If they think they can make more money, or make their profit faster, if they charge Blu-ray users a dollar a month premium, that's certainly within their rights. And if you, as a customer, don't mind paying the premium, that's fine too. It's your choice, and you're money, and maybe like eugimon it's worth it to you. But I think you, or Netflix, or anyone else would have a hard time arguing that it's necessary for Blu-rays to remain profitable for them. So when Netflix says "we're going to charge you more because Blu-rays cost more," I'm betting that it's less "Blu-rays are more expensive so we can't afford to offer them if we don't charge a premium" and more "Blu-ray players, HDTVs and home theater equipment necessary to maximize the HD experience that Blu-ray offers are rather expensive, so people who rent Blu-rays are likely have more disposable income and therefore less likely to object to us charging them more if we point out that Blu-rays cost more than DVDs."
meh.. its a dollar..besides if the blu-ray movie sucks you are only out a 1.00 as opposed to 25-30.00 if you bought it...

If anyone's on the fence about the Gunbuster vs Diebuster bluray set, rightstuf is having a Bandai Visual sale this weekend. 35% off all titles, which brings it to 64.99 to pre-order.
cheaper at Amazon 58.99 without a sale

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. KISS co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have mentioned that there will be no new KISS material in the foreseeable future. So, just to please their Japanese fans (or at least grab a quick Yen out of them), the current lineup (with Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, who have replaced Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, respectively) re-recorded 15 KISS classics on one CD. The result is nothing short of disastrous.
It's a sad state of affairs when most KISS tribute bands sound better than this re-recording. At least the new Journey still sounds like classic Journey...
KISS: Jigoku Retsuden ~New Recording Best~ (地獄烈伝~ニュー・レコーディング・ベスト~) (Listen at your own risk!)
Ya I heard this awhile back...its awful. I'm surprised this hasn't been released here yet...considering they will sell just about anything..

BAD NEWS fellas. Yamaguchi is taking a LOOOOOOONG break.
http://eyeonasia.wordpress.com/2008/11/12/...ve-immediately/
aw crap...
Kaiyodo do seem to have been having some problems with Revoltech over the last 12 months, there are been some serious QC issues and the fact that Fraulein, Hokuto No Ken and SFO ranges have all massively under-performed.I haven't picked any of them up yet but the Hokuto No Ken and SFO lines aren't that old. How could they be under performing already? Or is it just QC problems? Another case of the strong yen hurting JP exports?

So is Robotech the Macross Saga.
Macross II is in 6 episodes not the movie form..I'm assuming Plus and II are in English only. They are in the Manga Entertainment section.

I actually don't want "middle ground" Macross toys. Toynami tried that with the 1/100 and in my personal opinion they were terrible...
And in a sense - that's not surprising. Besides; the Bandai classic Takatau mold reissues are kind of middle ground, insofar as they are more durable than the Yamatos... But... in a sense... I just can't see how you can seriously have a "middle ground" Macross figure?
What would it look like? What compromises would have to be made? Why would you want it, when you could get the nicer one?
Would you realy shell out say 49,99 for a "Leader Class" Macross figure that was quite shabby when you could buy a Yamato?
I dunno... maybe I'm extremist and going overboard (as usual:) ) ... but I get the feeling that part of what makes Macross special is that it doesn't have this middle ground thing... There's no preschool Macross line, no "kiddie Macross" line...
maybe in one sense it would help Yamato financially to do something like that - maybe it would be better not to have all your eggs in the adult collector/uber fan basket... but... I won't complain if they continue on their present course.
Pete
I didn't say there shouldn't be high end toys. I just think there should be more options for fans. Not everyone wants to blow US 200.00 plus on a 1/60 YF-21 for example. I've been through that "special" feeling you talk about. After awhile, that turns into "This stuff is too expensive and not worth it".
For example, NASCAR has companies that produce different grades of 1/24 die-cast cars. You have the crappy 20$, the average 60-70$, and the high end 100-150 or more 1/24 scale.
Macross is still otaku country though. That mostly means small runs and expensive products.
Toynami's junk doesn't qualify as middle ground. I have had gashapons that were made better lol
-
Wow.. comparing Ferrari to Yamato...

in a nutshell: Why are Macross Figs so expensive..small fanbase, crappy exchange rate (as of now), cost of raw materials has risen and Macross fans will over pay for just about anything Macross ...myself included

IMO Macross has always needed more middle ground toys. For awhile now, it's been high end, overpriced Yamatos or junky POS gashapon figures from CMs, Bandai etc. Maybe the new 1/100 line from Bandai will help. But even that is a bit high given the exchange rate and international shipping. IIRC the 1/100 VF-25 is around 5000 yen before shipping...
