  1. I've been so busy lately that I haven't been following the latest Blu-ray developments. From my limited understanding, T1 is just a repackaging of the old release; T2 on the other hand is supposedly a new master. T2 has been released in so many different versions on the various formats, I've lost count. Laserdisc had around six different releases, IIRC.

Batman (1989), Goldfinger, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, This is Spinal Tap, Pulp Fiction, Braveheart, and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Theatrical versions) are some new releases I'm anticipating. They're supposedly going to release some of the Alien movies as well. ^_^

What are the films that will make you take the big leap to HD--Other than Star Wars and Indiana Jones?

There are rumors of a remastered T1 coming out later this year...but for now all we get is a repackaged version of the old blu-ray...lame. I've had the JP Steelbook of T2 since Dec. It has the directors cut and theatrical version on 2 separate discs. I don't think I'll get the new skynet edition or the Endo-skull version. I'll rent it to see the extras and compare the audio tracks. US/UK version has DTS-MA. JP version is Dolby True HD. I'm assuming the video will be similar...

I rented the Tim Burton Batman movies...meh..I liked them back in the day...but they put me to sleep. For their age, they look/sound good though.

Gladiator, IIRC is coming this fall.

  2. Yeah, I saw that... but I already have the first release of third film. Buying the other two separately for $20 each is still $10 more than I want to pay, anyway.

If you are into digital copies, they only way you can get them is with the box set. That's some added value I guess...

I didn't have any version of these movies so I bought the box set. Video quality is good on all of them but the sound...if you have 5.1 system.. is awesome.

  3. Looks like MvC2 might be due around June 29th

In reporting its Q1 2009 financial results, Marvel Entertainment has revealed a short release schedule for its upcoming licensed products, including those that require the frantic mashing of buttons. Though the dates are noted as being subject to change, the fine purveyors of POW! indicate that Capcom's PSN and Xbox Live Arcade release of cross-company brawler, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, is currently set for release on June 29, 2009.

A quick flick through our Official Age of Apocalypse Calendar reveals that June 29th falls on a Monday, and since neither Xbox Live Monday nor PSN Monday exist, one may speculate that the game may be due sometime during the week of the 29th. We've asked Capcom for further information, though suspect that we'll receive little more than a 768-hit combo of non-commentar

    and this too

We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title," Kramer said. "We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months."

  4. Meh it was alright. It wasn't Fantastic Four or Daredevil bad... but eh....Weak supporting cast, Gambit was a complete waste, too much crammed into one movie, and sometimes laughable special effects. I saw the Deadpool ending...yippee lol

I can see it now...the new look for young douchebags trying to get girls this summer : cigars, white tank tops, dogtags and beards lol

  5. there might be some hope

    http://tv.ign.com/articles/973/973668p1.html

As for where Season 3 could go, a new interview with Brian Austin Green sheds some light on that. [spoiler Warning for those who haven't seen the last two episodes of Terminator - though if so, what are you doing reading this article? Some fan you are!]

Green tells Comic Book Resources, "The third season is going to be incredible, if it happens. There were no intentions of this being a series finale. It was absolutely a season finale. There's a plan where this can go and it's so good."

  6. Thanks wmcheng for feedback. Hmmm...guess i have to think about how to pull cables from upstairs to my home theatre downstairs. Perhaps i shall just resort to those LAN over powercable adapter things.

In other news.....what do you guys think about RE5's vs mode?

    http://kotaku.com/5202917/resident-evil-5-...-disc-all-along

I generally feel we shouldn't need to pay for this ....in fact it isn't even a DLC.

Not surprising...Capcom did the same thing with their Street Fighter IV costumes...

After all my bitchin' I did pick up RE5...once you get accustomed to the awkward controls and accept the fact you can't run & shoot... the game is... fun.

  7. from the guy who was involved with the last Street Fighter movie...

Team Ico's beloved 2005 PS2 adventure is being turned into a film…by the screenwriter of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

The old showbiz saying goes, "You're only good as your last job." And while that axiom may hold true for much of Hollywood, it doesn't seem to apply to game-based movie projects. Case in point: Andrezj Bartkowiak, the director of the big-screen version of Doom. When that project bombed, he was promptly given the job of helming Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

The shock of today's announcement was enough to fell the mighty beast.

Now, despite The Legend of Chun-Li adaptation's spectacular flame-out at box-offices and with reviewers, its screenwriter has been handed another beloved, award-winning game license. According to both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Marks has been asked to write the script for a big-screen version of Team Ico's Shadow of the Colossus. Currently, the scribe is working on a remake of 20,000 Leagues: Under the Sea for director McG (Terminator: Salvation, Charlie's Angels).

According to the trades, the big-screen Shadow of the Colossus is in the early stages of development at Sony Pictures Entertainment, sibling to the game's publisher, Sony Computer Entertainment. It will be produced by Kevin Misher, who worked on The Interpreter and this summer's Michael Mann-directed, Johnny Depp-starring gangster epic Public Enemies. He is also attached to a new adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel Dune, to be directed by Peter Berg (Hancock).

Hailed by reviewers upon its release in 2005, the PlayStation 2-exclusive Shadow of the Colossus sold over 900,000 copies in the US. Developed by Team Ico, which is working on its PlayStation 3 debut, the game follows a young warrior who has brought his fallen love to a faraway temple in the hopes of restoring her to health. According to a mysterious presence that dwells within the temple's walls, the only way to save this girl is to hunt down and destroy the 16 massive beasts that roam the surrounding lands. To see how the quest goes, check out the video review below.

  8. Only 1 hour. It was hoped that this would be a season finale, not a series finale, but not all shows can get a 2-hour series finale or an entire half season to wrap-up plot lines with style and grace.

Less than hour if you take out the commercials. Probably around 40-42 min <_<

Maybe the blu-ray/dvd set will have an extended version...

  9. There are a lot people on this board who are WAY too critical...and have extremely high expectations. When a new thread pops up, about a new movie coming out, the typical response is "my childhood is being raped (again)." Hell, that kind of response is almost expected on this message board. I would be very surprised if I didn't see a response like that...and would probably think that pigs are flying and hell is freezing over. It's quite annoying actually....

meh I went in with no expectations. Didn't care how accurate it was vs the comic book. I just wanted to be entertained. And for the most part, I wasn't.

  10. Macross Frontier's pandering to every anime cliche/fetish doesn't bother me too much. This show is mainly intended for Japanese teens, not us old schoolers lol. I get that.

My main "issue" is with the character animation. It's all over the place. Sometimes its looks great, other times its cringe worthy..

Also most of the cast is rather forgettable. I really didn't care what they did or what happened to most of them. They weren't developed enough.

For obvious reasons, most of the budget went to the mech porn and soundtrack.

Overall I liked Macross Frontier. It won't top DYRL? Macross Plus or Zero though.

  11. You want a good barometer for how the economy is going? Try my job: Local LTL trucking.

A bit of an explaination, here: I go around the greater Seattle area picking up little bits of freight all over the place. By 'little bits', I mean anywhere from one-to-three pallets, all the way to 26-30 pallets... now, I know this means bupkis to a lot of people, but the simple explaination is this. The more pallets I get, the more freight is moving, the better the economy.

Now, another point. Guys in my line usually see a drop in actual freight shipments during the winter months. When I first started, I thought that, with the Christmas season and all, winter would be a strong season for us, but that isn't the case. Most of the holiday freight we carry is sent out during the spring and summer, with a few panic shipments in the fall.

Finally, I come to the point. (YAY!!! right?)

This last winter, ever since the election, we saw a SHARP drop in freight. So much so, that most of our drivers were lucky to eek out 30 hours a week. It's showing a small upward turn now, in the last week, but still...

With that, the only toy purchases I've made this year were as follows:

A new laptop, since my old one was six years old, and dying. I did that with my income tax refund.

and, a Revoltech Soltic H8 Dougram, for a whopping $8... (A nostalgic purchase for me... if anyone cares to ask, I'll gladly explain)

Anyway... there's my two bits' worth...

I ship LTL and most of the trucks that come in my dock lately are empty or half full. Been that way since September. Some of the drivers I talk to have had their hourly pay cut and less hours per week.

Usually this time of year is busier...

  12. Fed chief Bernanke: recession could end in '09 - America's recession "probably" will end this year if the government succeeds in bolstering the banking system, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Sunday in a rare television interview. In carefully hedged remarks in a taped interview with CBS' "60 Minutes," Bernanke seemed to express a bit more optimism that this could be done.

we'll see. Since construction has slowed down, we've been slow since September. Just enough work to get by.

With all these damn bailouts, the US dollar is going to start tanking again..which will cause oil prices to go up despite there being a surplus and no demand.. <_<

  13. Ninja Gaiden II Sigma headed to the PS3 this fall

The game will have PSN support as well as new content.

In Ninja Gaiden Σ, it was possible to play as voluptuous character Rachel for some of the missions. In Ninja Gaiden Σ it will be possible to play Dead or Alive's Ninjutsu expert Ayane as well as Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa — which makes sense as Hayabusa and Ayane are friends.

The first one was okay but nothin great. How is this one on the 360?

  14. I sold off my 1/48s long ago. Even the low-viz..

I kinda wish I kept the Hikaru VF-1S with fast packs..was thinking of getting back in the game with the new 1/60s or at least buy the new Hikaru VF-1S...but as a recovering valk/toy addict I'm not so sure..

  15. Tats are for pro's, parolee's and jailbirds.
