  1. With that broad chest and shoulders? I don't think so. The Valks are slim and nimble and versatile but so was Bruce Lee... and he sure didn't look like a woman. That's always been my feeling about most Valks, they're more like a slim but muscular martial artist. Except for the RVF-25. That one, maybe due to the head, seems to remind me of a woman more than the others. She's got man-hands!
  2. Despite the historical connotation to females and Valkyries I do not see female traits in the majority of VF Battroid modes. Certainly not in the original VF-1. While not hulking it's a bit butch for a lady.
  3. What's the image to text ratio like? That last Space Wing book was a tad too much text for a non-speaker/reader like myself.
  4. That's a bummer for you guys in Oz. Personally I always ship things by Fed Ex if I can. They're about the only company who can get a package to New Mexico in less than a week and I've never had any issues with lost items either.
  5. It says $35.14 for me. $150 would be ideal I think however what's "bang" for you? The VF-1 is the coolest to me but it's the first Valk I ever saw and I have a soft spot for it. Maybe somebody loves the VF-11 more, then the VF-1 wouldn't be as cool and thus that does not matter. Maybe the VF-22's are cheaper but do they offer more "bang", if you prefer the 11 more then what does the 22 offer the 11 doesn't? Plus the 11 comes with fast packs. That's equal to a VF-1 with super and/or strike parts and a lot more than the 22 offers.
  6. $173 with Fed Ex isn't bad. What do you think it should cost?
  7. That's exactly what I was thinking... though with all of that white it shouldn't be too hard to modify one with a little blue paint to look a lot more like Max's YF-11. Maybe a third and fourth!
  8. Hmm, $140 for that 11C... dare I get a third?
  9. I'm referring specifically to any VF-1 schemes. Yamato seems far less willing to release other types of VF's in different schemes.
  10. That's about the only two schemes they have left to make unless they start branching out to VF-X (which they already started doing) or they feel like making a Macross 7 Milia with the black bands around the legs and on the wings.
  11. I wonder what the reason is for going with a full release for these two? Was there a big enough demand on the limited variety they decided it would be worth it to go ahead with a full release? Were they always scheduled to be released and they decided to have some "promos" (in the case of the VF-X being offered through that magazine) ahead of time? Are there other variants they might consider? They have already stamped out more unique VF-1's than pretty much anybody else to my recollection. Even with the amount of "not another VF-1" chatter we get on this message board it sounds like most of these sell through enough to warrant yet more variations.
  12. That is awesome... now make it in a color scheme I don't hate.
  13. Out of stock where now? HKCollectables is still showing it available when I just checked the website.
  14. The cheapest (and only) place I could find this book two months ago was at CDJapan.
  15. Even if it turned out relatively okay that's still a bummer man. My VF-1A Max is one of my absolute favorite valks. I wouldn't be as calm as you if that had happened to me.
  16. I agree, the models themselves are not great. I was mostly appreciating the attempts at all of the different paint jobs. A few were even inspired by the Marine's paint schemes from the VF Master File books. The first one didn't come out all that long ago so I'd say unless this person gave up or is taking a little longer assembling newer model kits they're probably still in the ARII arena for now (he does mention having some 1/72 Hase's in some of the pic descriptions as well.) There were more than a few paint schemes on those models I'd love to see a V2 1/60 painted up as (and photographed in all three modes.) Also, if you click on those pics it takes you to the guys Flicker account where he details his ideas for each scheme/modification and shows off some impressive knowledge of aircraft as well. He has some pretty interesting reads to go with the models.
  17. In an only marginally tangential google search I ran across this guys website with a whole tone of VF-1's in various paint schemes. The earliest works aren't that fantastic but some of the later real world paint schemes are pretty cool to see on the valks, plus there are some modified one's with long wings and with radar dishes. Pretty cool work and I haven't seen this posted anywhere else. Customized VF-1's
  18. I'm sure because of Basara's popularity this thing will sell like gang-busters because it looks like an excellent toy. I hope and pray Yamato makes some color variants however because I still can't bring myself to buy something this color.
  19. It's a really cool idea, and I completely understand the constraints, however it is a bit of a bummer for those of us with little to no skills who still want to see if they can tinker and get something from some of these models.
  20. While I understand when it was designed and why and it's function within Macross I was only commenting on the picture from the book and my feelings on when something like that could/should have emerged. It obviously was based on the F-117 and while it couldn't exist in the original animation because it wasn't publicly revealed until the late 80's (though it did exist back into the late 70's) those pictures made me think about what might have existed around the time original series occurred.
  21. This isn't necessarily related to the VF-19 but it does have to do with something I saw in the book the other night and started pondering. After looking at the pic of the two VF-17's flying in low-light on page 55 I can't help but feel that particular fighter would have existed at a time far closer to when the original VF's were issued. It makes sense they would attempt to fit the OverTechnology to existing designs, even if they didn't perform quite like the VF-17's in Macross already, it seems to me there would have been an attempt to create a bomber at the same time as the fighter's were being produced.
  22. I got a VF-0A at the last HLJ sale and it was definitely the re-release with the new box a la m0n5t3r's post earlier up. Is it worth it? Well, depends on how much you like the design I suppose. I personally feel it's a little rickety compared to some of the other VF's Yamato has made. It's my second least favorite 1/60 just ahead of the horribly floppy YF-19.
  23. $300? Nope. Not going to buy it. Not for a color scheme I truly despise and I hate to say it but not for any of the others as well. It's too high and I refuse.
  24. Yeah, that's pretty much a line-art problem. I suppose it could be possible to include a mechanism that allows you to push that portion down so it sits flush with the nose however considering the size of the parts you're working with right there it would be a mechanical nightmare to produce and/or would make the thing brittle beyond belief.
