1. Backwards compatibility? Why? The hardcore already OWN what came before, and aren't getting rid of it. 327831 Preservation is the most important objective of what I would define hardcore, loyal supporters. No matter how good you take care of your console, it eventually goes (much like several of my SNES cartridges). Hence, legacy support or emulation is the only alternative. 327871 Funny, as every console and game I've ever owned is still kicking, with the exception of my first copy of Metroid 2 and my first Virtual Boy, which was dropped on the floor(technically stil works, but the displays are out of alignment). This is from the 2600 on up to DC, GC, and PS2. I'd really liek to know what barbarism you inflicted upon your SNES games that killed them. 327874 I rub the smooth side of the cartridge against my bare buttocks. A lot of fun, but terribly hard on the cartridges
2. Sure... nowadays. But remember that, at the time of the Dreamcast, backwards compatibility really hadn't been done before. It was the PS2 that set that standard, with the GBA (and later the DS) following, and soon all three new consoles, to follow that trend. You can't really knock on the Dreamcast because Sega didn't think of it first. 327855 Not blaming Sega at all, just stating that I disagree with DC's postion as the last hardcore console. Legacy support would be more favorable for such a mantle.

4. Ack! Already started a topic about this. I didn't see this topic first I hope all the new changes go well.
5. You have to scroll down. Look at the new section labelled "Overtechnology Think Tank" and you should see the Toys and Models forums.
6. Oh, wait, I can see some of the forums now in different locations. Guess there must be some rearrangement going on. Strange.
7. Can anyone else see the strange logo at the top of the message boards? Picture of the Forums I also can't access some of forums. What's this all about?
8. In all honesty, I couldn't agree that the Dreamcast was the last system dedicated for hardcore gamers. Though I agree the Dreamcast had a far superior initial lineup of software compared to its contemporaries, it still had it's share of lousy titles released to fill up shelf space. The DC also lacked features like reverse compatibility, a feature which would certainly be the definition of "hardcore" in any non-subjective benchmark of the player market.
9. Oh this is looking sooo good so far. I've seen plenty of fan-made, 3D Starfury models over the years and this is appears on the road to compete with the best of em. I hope the final result is as good as the WIP pictures. Then come, the custom paint schemes
10. I've heard it twice; it's okay. If I may, I'd recommend Audioslave if you want to listen to a really good supergroup (Cornell from Soundgarden and Morello/Commerford/Wilk from Rage Against The Machine). Their debut album (self titled) is really good, a fine merging of some flat out rockers and bass driven tunes.
11. It's funny, but I've just recently been buying a bunch of music at various sales and I've been thinking about music all this past month. HMV, Future Shop, Best Buy, and a bunch of other stores are clearing loads of new and old overstocked product. Three for $30, $5 off any two, two for $15 and more. Must have purchased about ten CDs in the last month. At those prices, you can't lose. Got a bunch of White Stripes for really cheap. It's good stuff so far, but I still have to listen to more. Picked up a Deftones album, Radiohead, The Smiths, and some Hip. I also finally picked up The Masterplan from Oasis. I've been meaning to pick up the album since it was released in 1998, but something more important always came up. So strange how it took this many years. Anyway, it rocks so I'm finally happy
12. 1995 will always mean Champagne Supernova to me
13. That's why you always buy the second controller. Every console I've ever owned has two controllers. It's well worth it. Eventually, one controller will fail and you'll always have that second controller, which should probably last longer than the console itself
14. Fantastic system. I still own my Dreamcast and the one title I purchased for it...Soul Calibur. I still take the system out and play every once in a while, much like my old SNES.
15. Whatever you do, please do not forget to post plenty of pictures when it finally is complete.
16. This is one fine rendition of the SDF-1 Macross. This interpretation is somewhat more smooth and ovate than the actual lineart, but it's quite striking. It appears as a more Zentradi/Meltrandi design done this way, owing more to the smooth, organic nature of their ships. I have to say this is probably the most impressive CG model of the SDF-1 Macross I've ever seen. The detail and individualization you've given to the model really blows away any other work I've seen to date.
17. Mr March

Heads up!

Damn, it's pricy. Oh well, I knew it would be, so I better get it over with now and at least save a little.
18. I'll probably go to see it because I'm really in the mood for some brainless action that I haven't seen in a long time and because Statham is almost always entertaining, even in a lame movie
19. I think I might be going to Banff this weekend. I love Banff...now only if it had a couple million people, then I could live there
20. What can I say? Seeing "Calgary" in a signature is rare enough that it catches the eye. 325458 I din't know there was any fellow Calgarians here. Though I'm actually from Fort McMurray originally, only been in Calgary for 4 years. Nice to see some locals!
21. Edit I was going to add to the discussion, before I read the fourth page. I think this thread is lock bait, so I'll not add anymore fuel to the fire.
22. I've held a rule close to my heart that I stand by to this day. It goes something like this: As long as I date regularly, party regularly, exercise, hold a stable job/attend school, plan/act on the future, save money, vote, and work at my relationships with family/friends/girlfriends, I can do whatever the hell I want to do with the rest of my available time...and not only will everyone have to accept it, they'll be forced to live with it. Since I'm currently satisfying all these requirements, I can watch my anime, collect my models, watch cinema, eat junk, drink vodka, talk about video games, argue politics, debate religion, slam stupid public figures, bitch about taxes, curse insurance, and generally carry on as the person I am for the rest of my existance. And it's fun
23. A fair observation, however, try applying this thinking to other genres of entertainment. The office where I work is filled almost exclusively with 25s-35s watching The O.C., One Tree Hill, and a host of other shows aimed at teen to pre-teen viewers. I generally don't call my co-workers immature for watching such programming, despite the fact such shows are immature products. Granted, I would like to think the "MAJORITY" of television shows are not aimed at children or teens, but it would be hard to convince me that NA television is inherently mature by nature. That would be a laugh.
24. Of course! Everyone knows animation is made by 12-year olds. It gets marketed by a group of preteens in shark suits sitting around a big coloring table. All the corporations that create, manufacture, and distribute anime are filled with children under 10. It's a well known fact the entire multi-billion dollar world of animation globally hasn't a single adult working in the industry.
25. My favorite is when Simpsons fans (which is just about everyone I've ever met) call me immature for watching animation. Ought to be a picture of these people in the dictionary under "hypocrite"
