  1. The look is new, part of this latest update. So you haven't missed anything. THanks for the welcome back fellas. I hope you enjoy the site.
  2. I really wish there was a hi-resolution scan of that white SDF-1 Macross picture. I'd kill to have a 1600 x 1200 of that.
  3. I don't suppose any of the Another Century's Episode games are available over here?
  4. WHOA! These last two are really good! Who made these?
  5. Way too much to get into and I'm not feeling these explanations are going in any new directions than arguments that have already been addressed. Each point is simply throwing more unknowns at the problem rather than going with the simple explanation that is most supported and unified by the official fiction and the anime productions. Digressing, this is also way off topic, so a new thread should be made in any case.
  6. vermillion01 Nice picture. The individual drawings are too small, but I'll save it all for reference. It's a very nice wallpaper. briscojr84 Not a problem. We don't have much to do anyway. The VF-2SS will be the biggest job to scan for Macross II. Everything else will be just one shot. VF5SS Interesting pictures. What class is the Valhalla?
  7. When Kamjin in a 35 ton N-Ger drops with terminal velocity on top of Roy in a 13 ton Valkyrie, I wonder what's going to happen? Same thing with Kakizaki versus Britai. These scenarios are hardly relevant and if anything, the minor damage the VF-1 head unit suffered from all that force only proves my point. And how is tearing through an interior deck wall and cutting through the thick armored outer hull of a battleship in any way the same thing? The only inconsistent thing I see is the "weak hands" theory and if it came about because of something as stupid as another "small hands" mentality, I really need my head examined for even starting this conversation I think we just struck gold. "weak hands! weak hands!" is going to be the new cry of lameness
  8. Azrael Oh gawd, don't remind me! "small hands! small hands!" Mark Yeah, as I suspected this is a lot of supposition brought in from elswhere to bear against the actual Macross fiction. It doesn't jive. Despite the logic behind the hands/manipulators as intricate hardware, they are not going to be as delicately designed as the swing wings on an F-14. Valkyrie hands/manipulators are specifically designed for heavy use in adverse conditions including firing, punching, grabbing, lifiting, leveraging, etc. They are going to be, by necessity of function, some of the most robust parts of a Valkyrie. To take an example straight from Macross Plus, the entire weight of the YF-19 and the YF-21 was brought to bear upon the hand/manipulators as the two Battroids attempted to wrench the GU-15 gun pod away from the grasp of the other. And what part of the Valkyrie actually yields first under all that pressure? The hands? Nope, it's the elbow joint of the YF-21 that yields to the extreme mechanical forces placed upon it. The hands of early Valkyries were not excessivle large, they were simply drawn that way on the line art. The line art I just posted above is a perfect example of the forced perspective Kawamori used in the VF-1 drawing, perspective that is not used in his later Valkyrie drawings. In accurate perspective adhering to the specifications of each mecha, the hands on the YF-19 are actually larger than those of the VF-1. A comparison of the VF-1 and YF-19 schematics would confirm as such. The hands are built to handle anything thrown at them and all the instances of the Valkyries using their hands to tear and punch in the anime is more than enough to throw out the weak hands theory.
  9. Is this about the CG censoring? Yeah, I heard. What a sad state.
  10. VF5SS I want to add some more game entries, but I usually focus on the mecha that don't appear anywher else. THere's not much point in priotitizing duplicate entries just for the sake of completion. If it looks different, that's what I want to add first. briscojr84 My mistake. I thought last time we'd spoken about scans I'd asked for the VF-2SS from Macross II but there was a problem. Regardless, we should proceed with a VF-2SS batch of scans and make a proper profile for that mecha. Zinjief Really? I must say that I've totally forgotten. Well, we will organize something. We should be able to sneek in a bit of Macross II before Frontier gets well underway. Kurisama Well, the quality of the productions is not as much of a factor as it once was when I first started. I also hate Macross 7, but now that most of the really good Macross stuff from SDFM, DYRL, FB2012, M+, and M0 is all complete, I can do the shite last I think we've got Macross II scans covered, but we'll see who is most motivated to submit first GGemini Thanks. And thanks for your help as well. grapetang Merci. Make sure to keep visiting.
  11. Only 3 times. No need to burn myself out on it. I don't want to get bored of the show before it's even had a chance to get started. I've got about as much information out of it as I can for now and I want to be able to watch the official regular season release of episode one in April with a full level of anticipation.
  12. What the heck is with this weak hands crap? I'm sorry to go off on a tangent and I don't mean to single anyone out, but I've about heard my fill of this often repeated and (IMO) completely ridiculous theory. I've never understood the parallel some seem to make between the pin-point barrier and a perceived "weakness" in the hand/manipulators of later Valkyries. Where the hell did this come from? It makes no sense, it's not mentioned/shown in any Macross anime and it's not part of any official statistics or information on the mecha. Just because Isamu and Guld used the pin point barriers upon the arms and shields of their Valkyries doesn't mean these areas of the mecha "needed" the pin-point barrier just to engage in physical combat. Valkyries of all eras are shown to be incredibly robust, punching through mecha or walls, smashing into the ground at high speeds, ramming through bridges, flying through buildings and more all intact. Almost every Valkyrie from the VF-0 in Macross Zero, to the VF-1 in DYRL to the VF-17 in Macross 7 (ALL with square styled, articulated hands) are shown punching something without the novelty of a pin-point barrier system. The hands/manipulators never suffer any damage and remain fully functional. Even if the hands/manipulators of the later Valkyries weren't designed for hand-to-hand fighting (a ridiculous assumption for a military robot), energy converting armor (Valkyrie technology that we now know Kawamori conceived many, many years ago, long before it was even canonized in Macross Zero) would make concerns about punching in hand-to-hand mecha combat completely mute.
  13. Lonewolf Howdy stranger! I'm glad you had some time to check out the site. Morpheus I have nothing against including Macross II on the M3, it's just the lowest priority of the franchise. I also have no access to Macross II line art and I don't think briscojr84 does anymore either. I'm also very unfamiliar with Macross II. I saw it only once or twice years years ago and didn't like it (thus I don't own it). The near total lack of official statistics for the MII mecha also makes building profiles very hard. It's likely worth doing a proper profile for the VF-2SS (especially because of fan interest). I might do a rudimentary section that just features one b&w drawing of each Macross II mecha and very short profiles, like the VEFR-1 profile but without the stats or text. There's just so little to work with; I think Kawamori put more thought into the official mecha statistics of the Flashback 2012 music video than the creators of Macross II gave for their whole anime
  14. Brilliant stuff. I really like the sun and teeth decals.
  15. Dante74 Hehehe, I think I know exactly what you're referring to Ignacio Ocamica Aw, thank you IO Warmaker I'm glad there's some good Macross Frontier pictures floating on the net. They make pretty good pictures for profiles. Flaming Guantlet Yeah, this was a big update. I'm sure it makes up for the small amount of down time Kurisama Oh good. I was worried there might be some problems. Enjoy the content! 1/1 LowViz Lurker Glad you're enjoying the site. The variable glaug hasn't been included as yet. Only so much little old me can do.
  16. Now that we have statistics, I made up a rough size comparison chart that includes the VF-25. Naturally, the fact that the picture compares the VF-25 3D model (with flawless dimensions) to the VF-1/VF-11/YF-19 line art (with artistic interpretation) means the comparison may appear a little "off." Nonetheless, it should provide at least a rough idea how the mecha measure up to each other.
  17. It's back, it's back. We just had to change servers. We were down for a few days, "but we're fine, we're all fine here, now...how are you?" Make sure to update your favorites/bookmarks!
  18. Very nice.
  19. Macross007 I'll take that as a very positive response Kurisama Make sure you're using the newest address. We recently switched servers and are now at the new address for the M3. Let me know if you're still having problems. Dante74 Thank you, sir. Your work has made my site all the better and I can't thank you enough. As for the main page navigation link, I'm not sure it's much of an issue. Besides, the splash page has to get some love kensei Thanks for visiting. The presentation really needed to be improved and I can't imagine it any better than it is now. It feels more like a real website Zinjidders Glad you like it. I hope you get a chance to go over everything new.
  20. Hopefully all goes smooth with BSG.
  21. New address! Please change your bookmarks/favorites! http://www.new-un-spacy.com/m3.html February 13, 2008 MAJOR UPDATE! Macross Mecha Manual Version 2.0 (Our One-Year Anniversary!) It's 2008 and the Macross Mecha Manual celebrates it's first birthday! It's been a lot of work and I want to thank all the fans for visiting and supporting this website (including patiently enduring the recent server switch which had us down for a while). Today the Macross Mecha Manual not only features an update with 50 new profiles but also a website-wide revision making this one of the most important updates in the M3's history. Without a doubt, 2008 is going to be a big year for Macross as the newest animated television series in the franchise, Macross Frontier, begins airing in Japan in April. This past December fans were treated to a special promotional release of the first episode of Macross Frontier and the reviews have been largely positive from the fans and the larger anime community. It's an exciting time for Macross and I hope this website helps fans world wide enjoy the newest jewel of this long time science fiction franchise! This update also adds Information Headers to all sections of the website. The headers feature production information and relevant trivia for each Macross anime. These headers will help website navigation as well as provide fans and non-fans alike with relevant reference points for properly placing each vehicle within the larger Macross continuity. The new Macross production titled Macross Frontier now has a very rudimentary section on the Macross Mecha Manual. It is my hope that line art for Macross Frontier is made available much faster and in a more comprehensive book than that which was published for Macross Zero. Macross World forum member Dante74 has created Custom Banners for each section of the website as well as new Navigation Buttons. I am extremely pleased to present his work and hope that these new additions make the website even more enjoyable for our visitors. Lastly, the for fans only section debuts which contains fan-made line art, custom color schemes, variant squadron colors, wallpapers, line art comparison pictures and other miscellaneous goodies. Due to visitor feedback, I've simplified the website by relocating Features and Humor (along with the sub-sections) into the new for fans only section. Refer to the list below for all the new profiles in this update. 22. We're almost there my friend. The new server is up and I've got FTP access. When I've finished uploading the whole site and I'm ready to roll, you know where I'll post
  23. Damn lousy background. They just HAD to put these beautiful pictures against a lousy background that can't be deleted easily with the magic wand. *grrrr* Oh well, I guess cleaning the pictures the hard way will make it all worthwhile in the end. Finally, some Macross Frontier profiles for me site
  24. Yummy! *gobble, gobble*
