Well, I don't think the tanks are specifically used to create reactant, but I was just saying the ships of the colony fleets have to recycle elements whenever they can becuase they've no idea when another source of natural resources is coming along on their voyage. Whether it's something as simple as looking for ice to acquire more water for organics, recycling the dead for nutrients in the soil or searching star systems for elements to be processed as reactant. The fleet has to be "Super-Green" -

That could be it. Or it could be that Luca is a competant combatant and the scene was designed to yet again emphasize Mikhail's far superior skills above those of the average pilot. -

It was mentioned, but not a nicely as you put it. I agree it was a great touch and makes absolutely perfect sense. This is a long-distance colonization fleet and they have to manage resources with an eye for as little waste as possible. Who knows how long it will be inbetween stops for natural resources like ice, metals and other elements to process for reactants to power their ships. -

I agree with IAD's point. This was pin point accuracy required and even the slightlest movement could jeopradize Ozuma. So Mikhail looked for a solid pearch from which to snipe. Also, he was probably looking for cover as well, to keep himself and his VF-25 safe while he took extra time to aim and fire. The Vajra was still an offensive threat at the time. -
Well that's just it: I'm not a collector. I don't own hundreds of figures and models and I don't complete product lines; I have a small collection of figures. I too like to purchase the best and the best transformable is Yamato. The best articulation is Revoltech. I also trade up over time. I purchased Yamato's first 1/60 VF-1, then sold it to buy my second 1/48. I'm now going to sell one of my 1/48s and buy the new Yamato 1/60. And at the cheap prices for the Revoltechs, I'll grab them on the side. From my perspecitve, things keep getting better, both the products and my ever changing "collection".

"There is no curse in elvish, entish or the tongues of men for this treachery!" -
Indeed it was. As Radd has mentioned, mass cloning was indeed used although it only lasted for about 18 years before they ran into trouble. Here's the Macross Compendium entry: http://macross.anime.net/wiki/2030

I've no idea why people have a problem enjoying both, particularly for the wants both products fulfill exclusively. As much as I love and want more transformable Yamato's, they can't offer anime-like sculpts nor articulation that allows poses directly from the anime shows. It's like sidearmsalpha posted, we're buying Revoltechs for the specific reason they were designed; perfect replication of anime articulation. Of course, the Revoltechs also have the virtue of being much smaller and much, much cheaper. If there was a transformable toy that offered the best of everything, there would be no reason for a Revoltech (other than to fulfill a market for smaller, cheaper toys, which is in itself important). Slightly off topic, this is what also makes no sense to me regarding the fan criticisms of the new Yamato 1/60 scale VF-1. To me, the sculpt appears more anime-like, the articulation has been improved and the size is smaller. It's improving in almost every way and that's EXACTLY what I want. Yamato has my money on the new 1/60 VF-1. It's awesome! However... I won't be 100% fully satisfied until Yamato, Kaiyodo, or some other company makes a fully, perfect transformable VF-1 Valkyrie between 15-25 cenimeters in height that has the articulation of a Revoltech, the styling of a Hasegawa and the most favourable compromise of proportions between Fighter, Battroid and GERWALK modes. I'll continue to purhase Macross products that fulfill each of those wants until such time as a product is made that satisfies them all!

Koing Monster Just adding to Zinjism's reply, we actually have some magazine scans of the VB-6 Konig's other modes. http://www.new-un-spacy.com/macrossf/vb-6-...ltipleviews.gif Hopefully better ones come along, but we know it's a real Konig and it transforms. -
IMO, I never worried about manufacturing in the Macross universe. The Factory Satellite basically represents the holy grail of manufacturing. We're talking a factory larger than our moon that's completely automated, requires no skilled personnel to operate and can run for hundreds of thousands of years. The Factory Satellite is quite possibly the most impressive manufacturing facility in all of science fiction. Even if it took months or longer for the humans to repair the Factory Satellite to even a small fraction of its full potential, the production speed and capability of that facility alone would be orders of magnitude more than even the entire industry of pre-annihilation Earth. After all they popped out the far larger Megaroad-01 in a year compared to what took the entire Earth industry over a decade to accomplish with the much smaller SDF-1. I'm not surprised in the least they can pump out Megaroad and New Macross Class fleets roughly once a year. In fact, roughly one fleet a year actually sounds pretty slow, but it's likely the Factory Satellite is both running at only a fraction of full capability and being used for all kinds of projects simultaneously, not just fleet construction. Combine this with the fact that post-war industry always booms AND mass cloning became available to repopulate, I'm not surprised the UNG was able to recover so quickly and expand so agressively.

Well, like I've commented on the subject of Macross Plus before, I've never understood the fan interpretation that the YF-19 and YF-21 somehow needed the pin-point barrier to punch each other "safely." I'm sure the manipulators are just as powerful and robust as those on the VF-1, VF-4, VF-11, VF-17 or all the other non-PPB-equipped mecha. The Valkyries are all military machines after all so the manipulators would be specifically designed for combat and of course, they are already part of the Energy Converting Armor system. IMO, they wouldn't be "weak hands! weak hands!" Having said that, I'm not sure what the heck that knife is. If the VF-25 knife is an entirely new and exotic technology for Macross, it could be anything or it may be something more traditional the vibroblade or monofilament. If the VF-25 knife is an established OverTechnology, it could very well be some kind of pin-point barrier shrouded weapon. We know the super dimension energy of the pin-point barrier/full barrier system can be used offensively (with usually disasterous results for both friend and foe) but perhaps on a smaller, more limited scale it can be utilized safely as a physical weapon. I also had the thought that the knife could be a variation on Energy Converting Armor. The knife could be utilizing a power source to strengthen or "charge" the blade to such a degree that the blade material becomes strong enough to cut through virtually any Valkyire armor and even something as strong as the Vajra. An Energy Converting Blade if you will. -
This is my first time seeing it too.

Yep, I love the way the sculpts of the Revoltechs matche the Kawamori line art style. And they can do all the great poses from the anime. They are as good as non-transformable figures get IMO and I'm buying them specifically for that reason. For a good transformable, the new VF-1 1/60 is where I'm going, but action figures, Revoltech has it down.

I also don't think the Zentradi Battle Suits in Macross Plus were ever identified as anything other than Zentradi. We don't know if they are new units built by cultured Zentradi of the UNG sphere or if the suits are old technology from the ancient Zentradi fleets that were only then encountered in Macross Plus by the UN Spacy. -

Renato Excellent post. I've noted it in my original post with an edit. Thanks for setting the story straight. Indeed you do, you dirty old man! Yeah, you're right; I just like saying Obsequious Toady Badge, especially in bold Even if Macross Frontier was devoid of substance, which it most certainly is not thus far, SC doesn't have any eye candy and has no substance. So what's their excuse? But I guess when a fandom like that for SC is at the bottom of the barrel, there really is no where to go except to criticize other, better animes...which would be every anime By the way, you have the word Toady incorrectly spelled as "Today" in your signature -
I stand corrected! I've edited my post on the issue with a link to this thread. Thanks for posting this Renato! I think I might find a way to add this to my website as well if you're willing. It's very good information that deserves clarification.

Anime Friend was a Korean animation company utilized to help animate the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross. As a low cost animation studio, their animation skills were notably inferior to that of Studio Nue and the Anime Friend episodes of the SDF Macross are infamous for poor animation quality and numerous animation errors. As such, the term "Anime Friend" is a running joke on this message board as an appropriate insult for the poor animation of other criticized anime. EDIT: Whoops, beaten to the punch EDIT #2: There is a thread made by Renato that corrects the information I've posted here. I'd suggest reading his excellent topic on the subject: The Real story of SDF Macross, AnimeFriend and StarPro Enjoy. -

I bow to thy would-be trollishness, for thou hath spoken as thine most hideous of toadies to be reckoned with. I bequeath to thee, thy Obsequious Toady Badges. Long may you curse the name Macross! The sad truth is, I've seen people with that opinion on the net. Let's hope our sarcastic banter is all this message board ever sees of that kind of talk -

Oooh, I love it when you start talking dirty, Zinsexah. You saucy devil! Now, I demand more Obsequious Toady Badges in this thread Holocause Personally, I don't really care what the HG fanbase thinks. Macross has always been the real deal, even if it hasn't always been at it's best. Robotech is a 20 year old mistake that should have gone away with Star Blazers, Warriors of the Wind and all the other bastardizations of anime. But I welcome stuff like Shadow Chronicles. It's so poor a production it only appeals to a nostalgia fanbase and few others. We'll never see anything remotely as good as the likes of DYRL or Macross Plus come out of the Robotech franchise, so that's all that need be said. Hopefully Macross Frontier proves itself and only helps to drive the point home further. -
Fly4victory Hehehe, you might have a market there for other Macross fans that want the same. Like the old "Hand Recast" thing that went on for the 1/48 line miriya I was sold from the very first pictures I saw. Everything else is just icing on the cake
