*cheers* Definitely a good perspective to have. Though to play devils advocate for a moment, I'm sure when most say "realistic", it's with the understanding that we all accept the unreality of the real robot anime shows as a starting point and then debate from there.

I agree with Gubaba on this one. Macross is a geek series and always has been. Macross Plus is about a serious as Macross ever became, but even that OVA was solid sci-fi geek porn. Macross is not the kind of show that caters to the main stream, especially North American audiences, and is not cool nor will it ever be. Even the hip, much lauded Cowboy Bebop isn't cool to most people simply by virtue of being sci-fi, animated and foreign. And like it or not, the rule of cool still reigns over the opinions of the masses. Our geek shows, no matter how accepted and popular, will always be geeky and never cool. I say just be thankful Macross Frontier rocks. It's great Macross, or what a Macross sequel should have been. Enjoy it while it lasts

This really worked for me too. I was kinda saddened and affected by that derelict, owing to the scenes you described in the original SDF Macross series. Quite poignant.

That was a great little animation. Nice way to show the model. I know what you mean about learning new stuff. I learned some new shading techniques in photoshop and I've created new color schemes for some of my previous released vehicles on the M3. It's fun stuff.

There's enough resources just within the Sol system alone to build anything mankind can conceive. Once the problem of power and transportation has been solved (which certainly have been since the introduction of OverTechnology) the entire wealth of resources in the solar system is at the UNG's disposal.

Weirdness

This is an important point as well. I think some fans are looking at it from a Macross-only perspective. Yes, I am a bigger Macross fan than any other anime franchise, but I'm not purchasing products in a vacuum. I picked up Patlabor and Evangelion Revoltechs and I love them, so when I heard a Macross line was coming I was sold. And I'm glad I did because these Revoltech figures are simply 100% fun. The Revoltechs are like lego, constantly engaging my creative side to come up with new and interesting poses. Besides, I don't see any other company releasing a Reguld in scale with the VF-1 so Revoltech is the only option.

The FB is 1,400 kilometers tall; the Factory Satellite is 3,000 kilometers tall and is roughly twice as wide as it is tall. The moon is 3,474 kilometers wide by comparison. The Factory Satellite was set near Earth at a Lagrange point and was so large it was still visible to the naked eye from the surface of the Earth (though the Lagrange point is much farther from Earth and thus made the satellite appear noticeably smaller than the moon, which orbits much closer).
