Is there anyway we can confirm either Guantanamo or Maizuru as the class name? Because that would be really helpful.

You evil people -
That's gold, baby You are not your Valkyrie collection...you are not how many repaints you have on your shelves...you are not the boxes you collect...not the contents of your store room. You're not your fracking Yammies.

Saw that coming -
I love it TYLER: Do you know what a Yammie is? JACK: It's a Transforming Valkyire. TYLER: It's a toy, just a toy. Now why do guys like you and I know what a Yammie is? Is this essential to our survival? In the hunter-gatherer sense of the word? No. What are we then? JACK: Macross fans. Hehehe

Well, I'm guilty too, since I recognized you from a few other forums I post at and a few where I lurk from time to time I'm glad to see you joined MW, there's plenty of good stuff here. I try to repost as much as I can on other forums to spread the Macross goodness online, but I can't always keep up. I love Sheryl. I'm not sure where all the hate comes from. I suppose she is a more aggressive and confident woman, but it's not that. She's simply interesting, like so many of the characters in Macross Frontier. It's funny, but you don't see fans coming down on Ozuma for the awful way he treated Ranka after the Misss Macross Frontier show. Yet the smallest thing Sheryl does invites intense criticism. I think she's great and I'll take her faults as a character as the promise of good drama later on. Anyway, Welcome to Macross World! -
HAHAHAHAAHAHA Well, this IS MacrossWorld after all Like JBO mentioned, Roy Focker does some repairs to Hikaru's VF-1D in episode 2 of SDF Macross. That's the only time we see them and they never appear again.

Agreed. Not a good source for accurate information at all, even ten years ago. Best to stick with the Compendium, as always. -

I love the VF-25 rear wings. They make the VF-25 look more intimidating, like a gargoyle Besides, it makes the VF-25 more distinctive among the Valkyries and it does so in a good way (yes, those VF-9 wings are awful ) -
That's what I said...

Well, I saw a name that I did not recognize at first and figured that was the name for the "Stealth Cruiser". The Maizuru is actually the name of a Guantanamo Class ship according to the Macross Compendium: Guantánamo (CV 299), Macross 7 Fleet, docked with Sunnyflower Maizuru (CV/ARMD 362), Macross 7 Fleet Mamoi (375), Macross 7 Fleet, destroyed July 2045. I guess we'll have to wait for more information on the new grey stealth cruiser ship.
-
Well, the VF-1 does have a cheat ZING! hehehe
-
No, the first VF-0S transformation features a gun pod grab. It remains attached to the arm just like the VF-1, then pops off and the Battroid grabs it. The mid-air refueling scene was much later in the Macross Zero series.

Oh, I see. I suppose, if we get really technical, calling them Bolognese or Guantanmo "Class" might be a stretch (even though there were many active service Bolognese, which strongly suggests a "class" of ship by that name). Regardless, I'm not sure what other "online sources" you're referring to. To my mind, the Macross Compendium or direct translation of animation materials would be the only sources that count, and they say Bolognese and Guantanamo, however delicious they may sound (hahaha) I've never heard Northampton or Maizuru in any Macross show nor seen in any translated material. My guess is the "other online sources" are Robotech stuff? So we still don't know the name of that new ship, the grey one with all the gun turrets? About the Engrish, I'm used to it by now. I agree it would be nice if they got it right (especially if they insist upon using so damn much of it over and over again), but we english fans are the beggers so we don't get to choose -

Boo, hiss -
The Maizuru-Class would be the only truly "NEW" ship in the fleet. That must be the big grey fella with all the cannon turrets; the one that got "blowed up" by the Vajra in episode 1. The other ships are just variants (with a few new features/altered colors) of the UN ships we've seen in Macross Plus and Macross 7: Bolognese Class Stealth Frigate Guantanamo Class Stealth Carrier Uraga Class Escort Battle Carrier

The new yellow/green ship is a refit of the Bolognese Class Stealth Frigate. Same basic shape and features, just updated a bit and given a new color scheme. The other ones aren't ARMDs but Guantanamo Class Stealth Carriers. They've also been given a bit of a CG update and painted green. What the heck is a "Northampton Class"? Also, I think you meant the "Destroid Work" appears based on the Destroid Cheyenne and I agree, it looks very similar to the Destroid in Macross Zero. Same design motif. -

Well, there's no way to get around some names. Different languages will always cause problems. I have a British friend who laughed his head off whenever we would drive on Shaganappi Trail (a native Cree name) in my old city of Calgary. I thought he was just being immature laughing at the word "Shag" but then told me "nappi" is cockney slang for a dirty diaper, so shag-a-nappi started to mean something quite different -

Well, intakes are intakes; they aren't engines, right? I just assumed most Valkyries place the engines in the lower legs, like the VF-1. Makes sense to me. Here's a thread where Dante74 posts the cutaway diagrams of the VF-1: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=584721 -
Hehehhe, it's the VF-25 Shao Pai Lon I'm more or less happy with the name. Like I said in the other pinned thread, though Messiah is a bit over-the-top at least it hasn't been used and abused for fighter craft names by a thousand other sci-fi franchises. I'm sure someone will eventually post some obscure fighter called a messiah from a sci-fi franchise, but I haven't heard about it so that's all that matters to me.

Yeah, that yellow/green ship must be some kind of refit of the Bolognese Class Stealth Frigate. Same basic shape and features, just updated a bit and given a new color scheme, much in the same way the Guantanamo Class Stealth Carrier has been turned into a CG model and painted green So, VF-25 Messiah. A little over the top, but at least it's a title likely to be unused by any other science fiction franchise for a fighter.
