  1. You know, if the only response to new toys from Yamato on this bbs was "HURRAY FOR YAMATO!" this'd be the dullest forum on earth and there'd really be no point to reading it. Also, "if you don't like the price don't buy it" isn't exactly a killer comeback. If enough folks don't buy it, that's bad for Yamato. I would say "if you don't like the price complaints, don't read em." People telling Yamato (in this forum and elsewhere) that they're not buying it because the price is too high is useful feedback for Yamato, I would think. It's very understandable that macross fans would be let down that a toy they had greatly anticipated ended up being badly overpriced, according to their personal sense of value.
  2. It is true that there is a lot of complaining right after Yamato releases something new, and I think there's a good reason for that. Yamato is a young company, and it has an unfortunate tendency to release some items that aren't as well-made or as cheap as the stuff Bandai gives us. Of course, they have a good excuse: they're smaller, they have less experience, etc. But I think it's fair and valid to point out their flaws. If I may share my perspective with those of you angry at the 'hobo' posts ("it's too expensive!"): I was similarly annoyed at such posts about the toynami Alpha, because I'm looking forward to that toy so much. I've been dying for new Alpha toys for years! just as we've all been dying for a Q-Rau toy for years. Thing is, if I step back, I realize it's true that the Alpha is overpriced compared to similar toys from larger toy companies (Bandai, Takara), so I really can't fault people for complaining. The Alpha is definitely "worth it to me" (as is the Q-Rau for that matter), but I can understand how it might not be worth it to other folks, who may have different priorities or may just have more sense than I do. I recommend thinking about that a little bit.
  3. that "huge q-rau" is barely bigger than a toynami Vf-1. Exactly as big as it should be at 1/60. To add the (inaccurate and QC-ridden) 1/55 MPC to this mix is invalid. And with that, I'm done arguing. If "high quality" means "falls apart as soon as it's removed from the box" as has been the case with several Yamato releases, then I hope Toynami sticks to "poor quality". Anyways. I buy both Yamato and Toynami, so I'm not gonna fight over Yamato, which has produced some really beautiful items.
  4. HA! Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds? By even saying it, you're acknowledging it IS the same! In fact, this is far worse, since this toy costs a lot more, has zero diecast, *and* doesn't transform. But, heck, I'm buying the Q-Rau, and I'm buying the Alphas too. I've got the money and I'm a slave to this crap. I just hope you remember your new 'enlightened' perspective next time you're tempted to flame Toynami regarding the Alphas.

    Q-Rau

q-rau definitely out. review please? http://www.toy-wave.com/cgi-bin/store/comm...d=7958360.16996
  6. they're junk you never bought? how d'ya know they're junk, then? I hear ya on the fanboy bullshit. We're all getting waaaay too old for it.
  7. ummm.. no. I don't know that. I think they make fine toys. And it's fun to transform them MPCs! Imagine that. Actually (and I know you were referring to kawamori's original art or whatever, not the anime) I think the superposeables look the most like what you see in the TV anime. They're 'anime accurate' (don't quite know why I'm responding. feel free to disregard this post)
  8. It was a rumor, from a credible source, but still just a rumor. The *point* of the rumor was that bandai will NOT be doing it now. As I said the first time. Lemme make sure this gets through: BANDAI WILL **NOT** BE MAKING NEW DX VALKYRIE TOYS IN THE FORSEEABLE FUTURE
  9. Rumor has it (just rumor, people) that Big West was hoping for a 'DX' valkyrie toy for the anniversary, and yamato made the 1/48's to prevent bandai from making such a toy. Bandai ain't dumb, I doubt they'd make an updated valk toy now, with the market so saturated. What could have been.. oh well, the 1/48's are damn fine toys as it is. and.. my goodness, who is that girl in rdenham's little pic?!
  10. I wasn't meaning to suggest this at all. However, I'm guessing a super vf-1j hikaru doesn't appear in the DYRL movie. Thanks for the info guys! Very helpful!!
  11. Hi, Can anyone tell me which super valkyries actually appeared in the TV series? (vf-1a, vf-1j, vf-1s?) Is the Hikaru Super 1J 'canon'? Also, was the VF-1J the only valk to wear GBP-1S armor in the TV series? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  12. Yeah? well I laugh at YOU now for your use of 'jesus tap-dancing christ"! Christ, as everyone knows, did interpretive dance.
  13. Man, I'm sure the mospeada nitpickers and the anti-toynami goon squad will hate it, but that's just a beautiful toy. The canopy looks pretty cool to me, although it'd be nice if they had a clear one too.
  14. Gamestop.com has new release dates up, starting with Scott Bernard on 2/20/04: Gamestop Bernard Alpha Preorder followed by rook bartley on 3/36, lancer on 4/30, and sue graham on 6/25. Given that the dates Gamestop originally provided us for these toys were so wildly wrong, added to the fact that toynami does not have a great track record for hitting their estimated release dates, I wouldn't take those dates too seriously. But, look at the bright side: the fact that they're still listed means it's likely they'll come.. eventually. By this time next year we'll (probably) have new alpha toys!
  15. dude... Although I would like to hear if Graham thinks if this release date is realistic.
  16. Sorry, a tad more info I should have included. It's definitely the Yamato 1/60 (saw that on the page where I got the picture). The website where the picture appeared was some sort of catalog, probably for retailers. I couldn't remember if we'd already seen this painted version, which (from your responses) I guess we hadn't. I'm very excited for this toy! Yamato did an excellent job on the Giant Robo, which was also a diecast nontransforming robot. It really is a shame that thing didn't sell better.
  17. It says January, 12,800 yen where I saw it. That seems unlikely (January that is). Any info? (Thanks to the big D of the WJ)
  18. It's an original sculpt based off Imai's 1/48 Legioss kit, but in a smaller 1/55 scale to go with their VF-1s MPC (Major Piece of Crap) toys. From all the pictures I've seen, it looks pretty good, and seems to have several improvements over the plastic model. However, since QC is Toynami's Achiles's heel, the final product may not be anywhere near as sturdy as the old Gakken 1/35 scale toy. And the MSRP is just absurd. wait.. major.. piece.. of crap? uh.. OH! OH WAIT! I GET IT!!! AH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAha ho hem cough. ha. You know what else is funny, we hear so many reports of yamato toys breaking when it's the Toynami toys that have bad QC.
  19. Hey, I'll bet HG is gonna lose their rights in a US court any day now, right guys?
  20. Yeah, but when everyone stops making VF-1 toys, what will the angry young macross zealots do with their time? (I recommend Halo)
  21. Shaggydog

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

Yes. It says something about '3'. If only some nice person posted a translation provided by a friend fluent in Japanese...
  22. Shaggydog

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

You can read that on the card? I could barely make it out. I dunno... your eyes must be better than mine. *smacks self on forehead* you did see the BIG photo, right?
  23. Shaggydog

    1:60 GBP-1 !?

merry christmas sign says: 1:60 3 Step Transformation Armored Valkyrie / Future Release / 2004 (thank you darren)
